    Thank you for your excellent advice. As a former supply fed with a government credit card, and having worked at a site where there were no government supply stores, I can confirm that (1) all of our acquisition was micro purchases, and (2) local businesses were positioned well to sell office and medical supplies to us, especially if we were in a rush and needed stuff the same day. Otherwise we faced at least a 1 day wait from businesses that had regional distribution. A local vendor would have done well to visit us in the supply and medical departments, inform us she could supply us at the last minute (even offer delivery) and leave us a catalog/business card/website. None ever did though in my 14 years in this big city. Also, although SAM registration is not required of vendors accepting micro purchases, if a vendor was registered and also left me a print out of her business in SAM, she would have been outstanding with any of us cardholders. This seller would have solved our problem of last minute need and our requirement from higher up to include a business’ SAM printout in the purchase file.

    • @koblerville923
      @koblerville923 9 месяцев назад

      @@sekiagarrett9019 In the rush scenario I described above, I am not contracting, just buying supplies quickly. At our local level we didn't contract to buy supplies, just did contracts for catering and hotel services. For buying supplies we were required to regularly use sources such as DoD Fedmall and GSA Advantage. Your SAM registration is still valuable as it supports our requirements to show in our files that you are vetted. (Your SAM registration is your company being vetted by the government, it isn't a contract). As for what industry you might be in as a factor in successfully selling to us, it matters only that your products fulfill our needs. Hope this helps.

    New Sub! Super helpful. If I’m setting up my LLC with a general Nacis code can I bid on any contracts? If I want to set up as a consultant can I bid on providing pens or paper..etc? That’s the piece I am missing. Or does it have to be specific to one type? My stepdad told me about this in my 20’s and I never looked into it because the gov makes things so complicated. But he told me I can set up as a consultant and bid on many opportunities especially on small works roster. Is this true? Or do I have to start a janitorial business for example and only bid on janitorial? Please clarify. Thanks!!

    • @FedAccess

      You can bid on anything as long as you meet the qualification requirements. If you are submitting a bid for, say, janitorial, then i suggest you go back into your SAM registration and add that NAICS code to your profile. You can add NAICS codes in your SAM registration at any time.

      Just like you would be unlikely to hire a contractor who had never done the work before, the government also wants to hire companies that it knows can perform the job. If you are a new company just getting started, you may want to look for teaming and subcontracting opportunities.

    Out of curiosity, do you have any insight or ideas as to why an RFP would keep getting extended or having multiple amendments?

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 года назад +3

      Good question. This is quite common. Something in the RFP was unclear or not to the liking of one of the bidders. They submitted a question to the government. The government responds to the question in an Amendment, and extends the due date to give all of the bidders time to incorporate the new information in their bids. Always read the amendments! they'll give you insight into what is going on.

    I'm starting a new LLC for federal contracting. I'm a beginner and interested in bidding for service based contracts, like replacing equipment or supplying materials to be shipped. Would this type of business be considered as a logistics subcontractor? I've been doing tons of market research. Do you think it's not enough to serve as a logistics subcontractor? I'm open to new ideas, I feel lost at what kind of service I can give even with my extensive research.

      Watch my video on how to write a capability statement: ruclips.net/video/y3kMBgk9svw/видео.html
      The short answer is, highlight the commercial experience you do have! For example, if you have 10 years of landscaping experience, highlight that!
      If you still have questions, tell me more about the challenges you are having, and I'll try to do a video on this.

    You mention that the cost of bid is more on larger contracts. How is this? What are they paying for that makes it cost money?

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 года назад +1

      For a big contract, the proposal can be hundreds of pages. That costs. Either your time, if you do it yourself, or the time of others whom you pay.

      The contacts issued under the simplified acquisition procedures should be posted on SAM.gov. although, best practice is to build a relationship with the buyer in advance, so that you know about the contract long before it is actually posted for bid

      I am a big believer in getting started bidding on contracts, because you will learn a huge amount just by going through the process. Just make sure you don't bid so low that you lose money on the job.
