Evolution of Baseball Video Games

- Doesn't feature every baseball game, and it skips 2001-04. Doesn't matter though, it features just enough. The games I chose after 05 is The Show Baseball Series, simply because it has been the #1 baseball game surpassing 2K and their series. I don't think that should matter, as the purpose of the video is to show just how much baseball games have evolved. I made the video 3d through RUclips's new feature. I don't know how it works but it might be cool for most people. Most of the classic games I used can be found on this link videogamecritic.net/baseball.htm

Major League Baseball is the one I remember most from my childhood. Loved that game.

Actually gave me chills. I was there in the 80s playing Colecovision, Atari 2600, and Intellivision. The thing is, home consoles weren't big. It was the arcades where true gamers played. Flipping games, tourneys for cash. Racking up points for bragging rights and to enter my 3 initials into my favorite game and then actually meeting the person who's score you passed. Those were really the days.

In my opinion, SCEA SIE San Diego (Formally 989 Sports) develop the best baseball series hands down. Hell, they've been doing it for 20 years! My dad and I have been playing the series since their first edition MLB 98, and we've witnessed the progression of the series over the years and seen it mature into the masterpiece that it's become. While EA made a great game, they just opted to abandon their MLB license to focus strictly on Madden. I doubt we'll see another "true" competitor to The Show series because that is far too large an undertaking to create an even close to competitive franchise, Sony has just been doing it for so long, anything else is second rate. RBI Baseball - cough cough...
