My favorite tip I've ever heard was that dispels affect rift summons. Cast dispel on the summons before the demons pop out and it counts as defeating them. You get the xp, and it's one or two less demons to fight. Works with any dispel ability.
I knew all these tips except for the last one. Great list nonetheless. My tip, loot stuff everywhere. Always have at least one of each class with you so you can use the to unlock, smash, or energise doors and objects. Craft weapons and armour. Seriously, I make crazy powerful weapons and armour. For example, I was level 11 and I had a great sword level restricted at 15 damage 150ish. I then crafted a great sword with a tier 3 schematic and the damage was 209 without having to wait until level 15!
you can open locked doors (only the one that requires rogue's) with the raging bull sprint, don't know if you already knew that but i found that out on accident xD (ps3)
I've found this game to be oddly difficult. Some enemies are super easy to kill then I walk a few feet to fight a bear and the bear destroys me. I even re-rolled my guy just to set the difficulty level to "casual" instead of "normal." Doing the stupid bear quest alone has killed me a total of 10 times. (Not including re-roll.
Yeah it nearly turned me off how useless the difficulty options were when really the difficulty was based on what level you are =/ I was level 4 trying to beat level 12 rift monsters near a stupid farm, it was like trying to beat a hard core level without even realizing it cuz it was supposed to be "casual" In the end, grind through codex n quests cuz simply killing enemies takes forever to level up
thanks for the tips, but damn i dont feel like i should have to study this damn game on youtube and some wiki like im studying for a test.....feels like the first time i played skyrim all over again
Teagon Barry haha if you think this is hard you should try and reach my level is Skyrim. (level 537) I have been playing the game sense it came out haha. Though it's a bit boring now with a bow and sword that does so much damage it literally goes back over the damage scale. (meaning after it passes 1000 damage it goes back down to 0 then starts back up. it doesn't say that your weapon does 2500 damage. But what iron dagger that does 500 damage one shot a dragon on legendary difficulty?)
The Champion Tree is incredibly overpowered for tank classes, Blackwall can face tank the Hinterlands dragon at level 10 if you gear him properly. You can get Sera's Jar of Bees grenade very early, doing 300+ damage per second for 15sec ruins the balance of fights at early levels. Also the variety of cheese builds in this game seems endless, I wouldn't mind seeing some builds people come up with.
While you can be a.Jack-of-all-trades during the early game (before reaching Skyhold) you should specialize in your preferred combat form before adding your Specialization e.g. Stealth is generally useful for Rogues but Tempest and Artificer combat mechanics make attacking from stealth kind of a hat on a hat. Similarly while there's no harm in having all your mages have the basic spells, you'll eventually want to have them specialize in an element if only so that Dragon that has been jolly-stomping you gets it's lizard ass kicked when Madame Du Fer unleashes icy death on its fire/lightning breathing tail
I know this was posted three years ago but I do feel like it's worth mentioning that some spells are really useful regardless of what element you specialise in. Fade Step is the best movement option for all mages and Energy Barrage's upgrade can quickly strip resistances that enemies may have to your chosen staff type (because Energy Barrage isn't actually always lightning - it's based on your staff type meaning it can work for any type of mage build). Energy Barrage also combos insanely well with Flashpoint from the Inferno tree because the sheer number of attacks that Energy Barrage launches makes it almost certain that you'll get at least one crit which will, in turn, allow you to use your next spell twice in a row. Conductive Current also works well with this set-up because if you have no cooldowns then it means you'll likely be remaining pretty low on mana from all that spamming you're doing so the extra damage on top of that is useful. Basically: don't be afraid to mix and match.
Just started downloading the game. Never played it before but im hoping to get the same rush i got when i first played oblivion and skyrim. Heres to it
been playing the ps4 version lately and noticed that most chests/sacks around the zones will randomize every time you re-zone. So, if I'm in the hinterlands and open a chest, if it only has 1 item I'll leave it. If the chest has multiple items, then I will leave at least 1 of the items in the chest. no need to save scuff Zone to haven, then zone back and all those chests you looted will have randomized loot again. so far I've noticed this works with every area/Zone I've unlocked provided you don't take everything from the chests. Just have to leave and then Zone back in. So early on this can be done on the Haven chests, then the Hinterlands chests near the inquisition camps for farming schematics/gold/Materials/rare items on Console. Not sure about the xbox-ps5 versions so maybe quick save beforehand if you check
For some reason I never thought of reloading to get better gear from chests. Thanks for the tip! Also, KNIGHT-ENCHANTER FOR THE WIN! *stands on top of a dragon corpse laughing maniacally whilst swinging a spirit blade*
Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I think you can't sell research items to the vendors. Early in the game, before knowing exactly what that intel was, I found out I had a couple of items on the valuable's category that didn't appear when trying to sell to a vendor. Then I found out that they were those research items.
FF games to come should learn from this game in particular. Also this game is a masterpiece I'm shocked nobody talks about it much these days or maybe because I'm just late.
The best warrior skill to have on ai is Horn of valor with the guard generation upgrade, set as Preferred. Changed my life after spending way, wayyyyy too many time grinding for fade touched obsidian or silverite.
Nice video only one of the tips was a cheat and while I know you exploit things in your game its still nice to see someone who actually gives good gaming tips in a tips vid instead of calling it a tips video then filing it with cheats. Thumbs up.
To be honest, I am dissapointed the PC version seems (or is) a bad port of console version, I am not enjoying this game as much as I wanted. Anyway, useful stuff, will try some of those now.
I tried wasd for a couple of days and the run-stop animation drove me mental. Also clicking thumbstick to search is much nicer than pressing an extra button - I do wish it had click-to-move then I'd have stayed true
extra pc only tip for the war table send people too misions then go into your system time setting and increase real time by a day considering the game constantly checks upon system time this is a pretty ingenious way to just never wait ever
Thanks, these tips will definitely help me in the game :) I wish I had watched this beforehand. I have been selling all my research items without knowing...
i was looking for the tip of how i can use all the moves i have. im lvl 28 knight enchanter and i don't always fight like that unless im doing a dragon. Is it possible to use more then 8 moves on my skill bar? can you answer that?
I've tried saving before opening a chest (tried various chests also), I always get the same exact thing(s), even after reloading twice. I've tried many times, and so imo it's immutable.
A tip I want to know is how to get better armor. I'm level 9 and an archer. My armor is literally so bad that it's the second armor I found in the game for my character. I keep having to go full try hard and use my invisibility and hit then hit and run. so far my hit and run has failed me 1 time but other then that what kills me the most is bugs. for instance I use an evade ability that jumps you out of the way while shooting arrows and the next thing I know I'm falling for like 5 seconds. Some times it's helpful, like when your trying to run from a gladiator and you glitch onto a mountain, still able to shoot them just you are now out of there reach. but most of the time it's not that great.
The most useful would probably be how to duplicate crafting materials, it's so handy and would somewhat speed up the slow start to the game crafting. Bdw anyone know where the research turn in is in Skyhold?
Khayman PDX Nope still works as of the last update, it's in the fabric of the game. It's been there since DA: Origins, it's more like a nod to old fans, not exactly a bug.
+AfroNinja1995 I'm assuming you found the researcher by now? If not, take the stairs near Solas' room and go around past Dorian. I think it's the 3rd table along? Also, duplication doesn't work for me since recent patch ;-; --I'm on PS4
I dont know man... i loved DA 1 and 2 - i just cant somehow get to this one... something is off for me - but i m trying to get there :P anyway thx for the tips
Late answer, As explained in the video, it can be used to gain combat buffs against certain enemy depends on its type, like buff against living, creatures etc

As I learned in D&D, brute force isn't the best alternative, but it is an alternative. Lol.
That last tip though!
Revisiting this game in 2024 and im blown away. This game is better than 70% of games made after it
I've found this game to be oddly difficult. Some enemies are super easy to kill then I walk a few feet to fight a bear and the bear destroys me.

shards give you upgrades to elemental defense and some pretty good gear as well. Its actually the furthest thing from "no reason at all".
thanks for the tips, but damn i dont feel like i should have to study this damn game on youtube and some wiki like im studying for a test.....feels like the first time i played skyrim all over again
