Hell yea. Havent played in a few years. But just about to start up a new play through as a warrior since my last 2 play throughs were as a mage and as a rogue.
For anyone watching now, who's new to the game, there are a few other places to get fade-touched materials. One of the most sought after materials is Silverite, as it adds 5 Guard on every hit. If you have the Descent dlc, there's a Descent war table mission that's repeatable. It gives Silverite and it also gives fade-touched Silverite, at a ratio of about 1 fade-touched Silverite every other mission. Sometimes it gives 2! The mission can only be accessed at the war table in the 1st Deep Roads camp, not the war table in Skyhold. It can also only be done by Cullen, so make sure he's free. It also requires an area to be opened up and this area is deep within the Descent dlc, so it's not easy access. The mission itself only takes 33 minutes. Thus, after just a few hours play, you should have all you need. If you have the Trespasser dlc and activate 1 or more trials, you will start getting 'special shipments', in a chest in Skyhold. Much of the time these will be random fade-touched materials. The more trials you have active, the more often they will appear. You can also get Masterwork materials from Bonnie, the Orlesian merchant, once she's moved to Skyhold. Just check her stock regularly and she'll occasionally have a Masterwork item. Lastly, for those not averse to using an exploit... chests, loot piles etc. will replenish, as long as you don't completely empty them. Most will replenish randomly but for certain items, including fade-touched materials, they will refill with the item removed. Just remove the fade-touched material, leaving everything else, go to a completely different are/map. Upon return there will be a new piece of fade-touched material, of exactly the same type. Repeat as necessary. It's rare to find fade-touched materials in chests etc, so keep an eye out for them and don't automatically click 'take all', without first checking. You can also do this with tier 3 schematics but it's random which tier 3 schematic you get and most visits there will be either random loot, or nothing at all. Just re-visit regularly and always leave 1 item in the chest/container etc. The best place to do this is the Cradle of Sulevin, as it contains many containers which could generate a tier 3 schematic. Thereby increasing your chances of getting one each visit. Hope all this waffle helps someone. :)
Can u get special shipments without having any trials activated? I havent unlocked Skyhold yet but i keep getting a ! pop up in my house at the special shipment chest at the starting town everytime i return there. It even gets highlighted when u hit search but there havent been anything in it so far.
@@Shiftry87 The icon shows always, when you get a shipment you will see a message to the left of the screen and the icon will be yellow, like quest icon before you mouse over them, and without trials enabled you may get a couple but are scripted and have specific items, for instance I started a playthrough without any trials and after defeating the pride demon when you wake up in your room, I got a shipment with 3 avvar armors, then when I hit lvl 7 I got another shipment with schematics for those same armors, don't know if there are more shipments like that but maybe, for random items and materials tho you need trials enabled

Some special features of crafting is the ability to remove class restrictions on armors. Snofleur skin (Leather) and Silverite (Metal) in the primary slot will remove the class restrictions. Mages will be able to wear medium or heavy armors, rogues can go heavy, and warriors can do medium. This is especially good for two handed warriors since medium armors tend to offer more +crit%, +attack%, and +critical damage% than heavy armors.
So those two materials can do that? How is this found out because I have missed it. No wonder I knew about this but never saw the materials if they were in front of me all this time :D

Dude you are just about my favorite go-to for help in this game, you explain things so thoroughly and thoughtfully, and it goes a long way that you're really nice and genuine about it, with a light sense of humor and never condescending. Keep up the great work!
So you're missing the slot in your schematics? Sounds like you haven't done the War Room mission to get the dwarf chick that unlocks that customization.

To bad this game is short. I loved every moment of it, but if you JUST do the main missions, its over fast. you HAVE TO involve yourself heavily into closing rifts, and doing side missions. Overall I loved the game, and am sad its over so fast, and the ending was disappointing. felt rushed.
The unique weapons do seem to drop from specific bosses. For example, the templar and Mage mini-bosses you fight in the hinterlands always drop a specific unique weapon.
A small remark here. When you talk about the materials affecting DPS, you stated that Rare materials can increase the DPS of a weapon beyond what it normally should have. That is wrong. The tooltip stated your axe's damage as 215 - 273 because you do not have enough Dragon Bone to get the 289 DPS. If you do have sufficient Dragon Bane, the tooltip will say 215 - 289. Long story short: the tooltip states the DPS you can get with the materials you have in your possession, and only the materials that you have sufficient amounts of. You didn't have enough Dragon Bone, so it did not count that.
hey man we love your rambling videos. you're the best resource for this game you don't need to apologise for the way you make your videos, they're awesome.
I just crafted a Sturdy Battlemage armor that I crafted entirely out of Dragon and Fade touched materials, and the masterwork material was Fade Touched Silverite that adds 5 guard every time I get hit, I am now the Ultimate Knight Enchanter Tankquisitor!!!
Just found out I can use the master element to "add 3 guard on hit" to my rogue daggers. Now I have two aoe daggers, one with add 10 stamina and the other with add 3 guard, both are 330 DPs. Currently I activate poison, stealth into twin fangs, flanking move (activates stealth) and then deathblow. This combo generally wrecks about anything I come up against. If it doesn't the poison takes em out and I also have full guard built up. A rogue with guard and assassin spec is unstoppable right now. just my 2 cents.
Remember the most slots not always best gear, two things to consider when comparing schematics is (1) type of slot compared to what you actually trying to buff and (2) will it take upgrades when completed. Masterwork chances are preset so save before crafting and use low level materials and count how many times it takes before success, then reload and use rubbish until you get to the one you know will succeed. (Can also Identify materials not to use at all) ie if it takes 3 great bear claws then two heartwood before a master work on testing you will know never to use great bear claws and use junk to craft with first heartwood and then use good materials for second heartwood. Seriously consider if masterwork 10% worth it over some of the fade touched abilities, 1-2% on a few stats and 20-30 armor on a backline character not as good as most of abilities you can slot
One simple correction in case nobody else has pointed it out. The DPS range doesn't include the DPS if you were using Dragon Bone because you don't have enough Dragon Bone to achieve that level of DPS. The DPS range shown represents what you can actually make based on what materials you actually have.
Fade-touched metals can be picked up from nodes of that same type. Fade-touched cloth is found in loot just like other clothes, and fade-touched leather can probably be found on animals, so you get the blue mats from the same source as the whites.
Don't know why I waited so long lol but I'm just now playing this game. Absolutely fantastic so far. Side quests are a bit dull but everything else has been very solid.
Great videos, clearly explained and very informative. Thank you for the time you've invested in making these, they have helped me enjoy the game so much more! :)
Great vid series KGTR! Best early set I've made so far is for mages - farmed snofluer skin for a warden hunter mail. Snofluer has no class requirement so mages can use it for medium armor. Only neg is that you can't use arms/legs for it. Almost 200 armor at level 13 - keep up the good work and enjoy!
Someone might have already pointed this out already, but at 10:15 of the video when you're showing the DPS of the 2 handed axe (215 - 273) the only reason why this range hasn't expanded to 289 is because you didn't have all the dragon bone pieces necessary for the weapon. Not because is goes "above and beyond the normal restrictions the weapon should have". Awesome video though man, just wanted to make sure that was pointed out.
The damage range is actually based on two things. If you noticed in the damage slot there is a number (22) which means you need 22 iron for example and the more that number is the more damage you can produce. The second is if you have enough higher tier material than iron. So if you have 22 obsidian material then your range would be 100 - 190 or somethjng and then as you get more dragon bone material - 22 for example - your range will jump to 280 something. So damage depends on material and how much the weapon needs of material.
I just started playing this game again and was wondering of the tips mentioned in the video is still relevant after the few patches which have been released since the video came out?
Yep. But then felt like this game is a very slow game which is perfect to play while laying down so I bought it on steam summer sale for my steam deck. (Heroic can't install the game from epic due to the stup EA launcher)
2:15 correction it is not ALL RNG some purple are from set sources in the world for example you will always get the "sweetish fingers" sword from a templar in the templar encampment in hinterlands or you will ALWAYS get masterwork vanguard armor from the gang leader in the fortress in the hinter lands
Kenetic, Im new to your channel. like the DAI vids a lot as I have limited evening time to play (fam and all). You do a great job explaining and your gameplay after the explanation helps as well. Keep it up.
I've found fade touched iron two times in home location at very first levels, just after waking up. First time uphill from siege weapons, second hear hut where you need to search for notes for alchemist. It's very rare, once for 200-300 minings of iron veins, so if you see iron or any metal - grab it even if you have 200 of it, there's a
KineticGTR If you add an AOE effect to one of your daggers, the poison stacks on every enemy that was hit by the AOE dmg. Pretty nice crowdcontroll for a single target assassin.
If you want to farm fade-touch metals you can go to an area where the metal is abundant (like the last dragon nest in Emprise du Lion for that Silverite who gives +5 guard; save, clear the area, and reload your game if it didn't popped. I thought it would be determinated by the game when you load the zone but it it's randomized when you pick it actually ^^ (all the time i lost travelling back and forth lol)
The best possible creatable weapon IMO is a Masterwork Tier 3 schematic crafted with dragon bone, with the upgrade that increases stats by 10%, go with as much critical chance and critical damage as possible. As for armour you'll really really want a Tier 3 Masterwork or ordinary Heavy armour crafted for all non-warrior classes with Silverite warriors go with dragon bone and then use the fade touched silverite upgrade. if you are in the early game just after getting to Skyhold, then I'd strongly recommend getting 20 Inquisition Attack and then going to Emprise du Lion, if you can manage to kill the red templars at the first camp you'll get access to silverite but if you find it too tough just go with the leather from the pigs at the frozen lake both silverite and the leather from the pigs allows any class to use the armour which if you play a mage is invaluable.
Actually, some items are not random. Equipment drops from dragons are predetermined (the amount of crafting material you get is random though), the loot from the tombs in the Hissing Wastes are pre-set, etc. The loot system is a mixture of RNG in most cases with a number of predetermined drops for certain items.
KineticGTR I thought you said they were completely RNG, sorry if I heard wrong. It just made it sound like there were no predetermined loot. Some unique items or certain schematics will always be found from that certain enemy or in that certain chest. No worries, just a slight nitpick that I thought should be clarified. In most cases, it is RNG, so not much of an issue.
Miketo2000 Even if the loot is predetermined from some chests and enemies the stats on the weapon/armor may vary. even the amounts of a certain stat may vary, such as Cunning +3 or + 5.
Thanks for posting this video i looted also the bags so i got allot of good crafting material, maybe about 20 schematics and 11000 gold without selling the rare items i also took, the commends in this video where also very helpfull
Rogue Crafting Guide: 2 Dragon Bone Daggers with Hidden Blades masterwork on both. Armor with Chain Lightning masterwork. Done. Nothing else matters. Solo the rest of the game.
I did most soloing on hard with frequent use of various grenades(jar of bees works wonders), when I tried nightmare it quickly became apparent why tanks are needed.
P's a tip I have for getting master work on all crafted items is to save before yu craft and use a their 4 masterwork item that has a 40% to master your weapon of mass creations if it didn't master work it load it again and repeat till all stats for it are up by 10% ;)
As a mage: highever weave, plaid, and deepstalker hide together looks amazing. It's not great with stats, but just for looks, it's great. It looks very Witcher.
Nice character name. I use Draven for my alt warrior build and Raven for my main mage name. When you made the "Precise Dirk" I suddenly thought "He should rename that dagger to the Precise Dirk Diggler...heh.
Just saying this. I don't know if people know about this but if you use sliverite in any armor it can cancel all class restrictions. Not to sure about which slot but I think it's the main one.
Fade touched materials can be picked up from mining ores. Earlier today i was playing and i mined some veridium and got my first fade touched ore, later on i picked up more fade touched materials from looting.
Hey thanks a lot! I had totally missed the part where the number of mats for a slot caused that other stat to rise by that number. Lucky I'm only level 10.
They aren’t normal restrictions on the DPS... it simply shows the range of what you can craft with what you can craft... you didn’t have enough Dragon Bone in stock which is why the range was only 215-273 and not to 283
I'm new to DA:I I've only been playing about a month and a half now and I still have two MAJOR Masterworks crafting questions which you never even touched on in this video: 1 - WHEN in the game can I start crafting Masterworks items? 2 - WHAT is the purpose/use for the Masterworks Crafting Items like Dragon Tooth 40% and bear Claw 30% and other such similar categorized items of lesser percentages? 2a - I'm presuming that there is a Masterworks Item Crafting FAILURE possibility based on the percentages listed in Q#2; so, what happens to all of the crafting materials that were attempted to be used when a Masterworks Item Crafting attempt fails?
You made a mistake. The DPS range shown next to weapon schematics shows what maximum or minimum value you can get at that moment with only the crafting materials you have. If you had enough dragon bone to craft that axe, then the DPS range would have said 215-289.
About that axe being stronger than that sword but placed below it. The sword is just slower than axe and mace, It will almost always be at a disadvantage on the dps number because of that. Maybe a dual bladed dagger vs single blade, and cleaving 2hand axe vs maul could also be in this situation. Though the 2hand blade, and dual blade dagger increases potential auto attack dps with additional enemiesk. Btw, thanks for putting out these videos.
Confirmed. You can loot fade touched crafting materials from their respective sources. Example can get fade touched elf root from an elf root plant. Very rare chance though, seems
Sending Leliana to collect leather (at war table) will always give you 6x great bear hide. which, if i am not mistaken, gives you the most crit hit chance +
I have many questions. For one. Does putting the "hidden blades" fade-touch material masterwork ability on my staff work when I use spirit blade? I'm running knight enchanter and trying to make the highest dps masterwork staff. I've heard it can proc when I'm using the staff but I've found nothing about it working with knight enchanters spirit blade. Can ANY masterwork fade touch material ability work on ANY weapon/armor and ANY class/character?
U can get that armor in val rouxal in a store u should be able to find it pretty easily u can also get the helmet there.and u can find the original warden armor for mages warriors and rougs on the dales in a deailish camp
Didnt learn anythign new which is good, looks like the game provides you with the information you need on its own ;) GREAT video though. My problem with the AWESOME crafting system is that it makes loot useless. For example, made 1 shield 1 weapon and 1 armor at lvl 10 , all tier 2, no masterworks. They are still better than all the lvl 15 uniques I find!!
I get so carried away killing things and collecting shards, gathering resources that I forget to make armour and weapons. I have tonnes of schematics and I'm a little lost on and behind on it all and don't know what to do with it all. I'm confused. but your video helps. I look forward to seeing more DA videos from you. You got a sub and a like from me. On my first playthrough I done In Your Heart Shall Burn and it sort of messed up. What should I do before doing that quest?
In 10:40 you explain that the crafting screen doesn't display 289DPS as the upper bound due to Dragon Bone being an extremely rare item. That is actually incorrect. It does not display simply because you do not have a sufficient amount of the material to use it for that slot.
Iv heard that if i get hidden blades on armor it only activated when i am hit, if thats true does it apply on 30% focus gain too? Do i need to get hit for the masterwork on armor to be usefull?

2024 unfortunately replaying this in regards to the abomination they just dropped (transguard) and I gotta say loving it till this day 😂😂😭😭🤷♂️
Someone might have already pointed this out already, but at 10:15 of the video when you're showing the DPS of the 2 handed axe (215 - 273) the only reason why this range hasn't expanded to 289 is because you didn't have all the dragon bone pieces necessary for the weapon. Not because is goes "above and beyond the normal restrictions the weapon should have". Awesome video though man, just wanted to make sure that was pointed out.
Your videoes are really well made and informative! Keep up the good work! :)
I just started playing this game again and was wondering of the tips mentioned in the video is still relevant after the few patches which have been released since the video came out?
mikkdc yup it's all still relevant
Back from epic game giveaway. Anyone here in 2024?
Yeah. Just cheat engineered my gold to 9999999.
Nice video, just started this game and it’s awesome. Can’t wait to make some nice gear now!
It's very rare, once for 200-300 minings of iron veins, so if you see iron or any metal - grab it even if you have 200 of it, there's a
Hey kinetic nice videos. It's been helpful since I got back into the game, and trying to beat it.
I've had this game since it was on 360'. Still trying to get through it. I enjoy everything but the battle for some reason.
Back here in 2022!! This game still holds up amazingly.
KineticGTR
If you add an AOE effect to one of your daggers, the poison stacks on every enemy that was hit by the AOE dmg. Pretty nice crowdcontroll for a single target assassin.
masterwork materials can be purchased by the merchant at skyhold with a perk for better stocks, the merchant randomly stocks 1 masterwork material.
Alot of unique items are locked in place,
There are unique wep. And armors that you get from dragons like the in peace, vigilance
This game is finally available this year in our country! I’ll start streaming it from tonight just to have fun !! No clue what to do though
Dalish scout armour is my favourite, it looks really nice and has 246 rating! ♡
mmmmm.. dailish bread!
Isn't that what I said? I'm pretty sure that's what I said :P
Miketo2000 Even if the loot is predetermined from some chests and enemies the stats on the weapon/armor may vary. even the amounts of a certain stat may vary, such as Cunning +3 or + 5.
it should be noted that for the fade touched abilities you dont need to be the correct class to get the benefit of it.
Thanks for posting this video i looted also the bags so i got allot of good crafting material, maybe about 20 schematics and 11000 gold without selling the rare items i also took, the commends in this video where also very helpfull
Rogue Crafting Guide:
2 Dragon Bone Daggers with Hidden Blades masterwork on both.
Armor with Chain Lightning masterwork.
Done. Nothing else matters.
Solo the rest of the game.
On Normal or Nightmare?
I did most soloing on hard with frequent use of various grenades(jar of bees works wonders), when I tried nightmare it quickly became apparent why tanks are needed.
Scrub
Great video, thanks. I've been doing it all wrong until now. 😃
It looks very Witcher.
ye but u can tint your armor for looks
Nice character name. I use Draven for my alt warrior build and Raven for my main mage name.
When you made the "Precise Dirk" I suddenly thought "He should rename that dagger to the Precise Dirk Diggler...heh.
Just saying this. I don't know if people know about this but if you use sliverite in any armor it can cancel all class restrictions. Not to sure about which slot but I think it's the main one.
If you do have silverite ,snoufleur skin, dales loden wool you can wear any armor you like.
FYI I have obtained Fade touched crafting materials from picking up items from the world. Fade touched Iron, Obsidion, from just standard mining.
I'm so glad i found your channel, Subscribed buddy!
Thank you! New to dragon age so this is very helpful.
Fade touched materials can be picked up from mining ores. Earlier today i was playing and i mined some veridium and got my first fade touched ore, later on i picked up more fade touched materials from looting.
Fade-Touched resources are Masterworked resources with the critically higher version of it's normal stats.
Hey thanks a lot! I had totally missed the part where the number of mats for a slot caused that other stat to rise by that number. Lucky I'm only level 10.
Everything sounds more epic with the DAI theme in the background.
Thank you this guide help me so much. You got yourself a new sub
Thank You,
your info is very informative
we appreciate your hard work!
They aren’t normal restrictions on the DPS... it simply shows the range of what you can craft with what you can craft... you didn’t have enough Dragon Bone in stock which is why the range was only 215-273 and not to 283
Thnx man ! You're vids are really helpfull... mez in my 20th hour of play and soooo much to figure out, and your vids are very very helpfull :)
Thank you I needed a refresher.
I just found 10 obsidian, 1 Fade obsidian and a sigil i a chest un redcliff
idk if anyone put this down yet but you can find fade touched ores by picking them up off walls and what not. it's just rare when it happens
Good info, clear and well presented, thank you
I believe the thing about the one-handed melee is that while axes and maces have more damage output they are slower to swe=ing kinda like skyrim
I'm new to DA:I I've only been playing about a month and a half now and I still have two MAJOR Masterworks crafting questions which you never even touched on in this video:
1 - WHEN in the game can I start crafting Masterworks items?
Rambling is good because you're talking and giving alot of info also wanted to know
I like your warrior cloak thing, I have a female qunari and I've never found anything like that.
only other way that i know of to get more fade touched materials is probably the black emporium which is free to download by the way sry typos
Can ANY masterwork fade touch material ability work on ANY weapon/armor and ANY class/character?
very nice explained every question i had
Man you should go to deep roads, there you should get tons of unique weapons armors schematics and stuff
U can get that armor in val rouxal in a store u should be able to find it pretty easily u can also get the helmet there.and u can find the original warden armor for mages warriors and rougs on the dales in a deailish camp
Hey how about a video about finding the schematics - especially for Hats...I can never seem to find them...
Would be very nice if you could post DAI gameplay , cuz your guilde showed what a blast it will be to watch you play it ! Liked and Subed :D
Yeah mate 2021 I'm 44 playing bow dwarf rogue, he's pretty awesome in nightmare
What should I do before doing that quest?
my character is named Draven too that messed with my mind for a second.
In 10:40 you explain that the crafting screen doesn't display 289DPS as the upper bound due to Dragon Bone being an extremely rare item. That is actually incorrect. It does not display simply because you do not have a sufficient amount of the material to use it for that slot.
thanks for the help everything is clearly explained
Iv heard that if i get hidden blades on armor it only activated when i am hit, if thats true does it apply on 30% focus gain too? Do i need to get hit for the masterwork on armor to be usefull?
