regardless if the film was about some lgbt bullshit agenda or not. This guy is on hell of a talented actor, and he deserves this. Have you seen luke cage?
klausweasley Well, to put that into perspective: he is an Ahmadi, so the majority of muslims disagree that he is one of them. He's persecuted in most muslim countries and wouldn't even be allowed to go to Mecca. So I wouldn't celebrate this like most of the media does
I watched it expecting some majestic performance given all the hype.... He was very good no doubt but best performance of the year? The dude had like 25 mins or screentime or something
Grace Amazer I would disagree he was in the movie for 10 minutes and I never once felt attached emotionally. plus the role of Juan was just kind of bland, no emotion in it and no foundation. so I guess mahershala did the best with what he was given. but if moonlight wasnt critically acclaimed as a whole movie, that performance would be a faded memory.
Miguel Munoz Hmm, I guess we can agree to disagree. Growing up in a similar community, he reminded me of some older men/drug dealers. In films, they are usually portrayed as totally evil/bad, but the ones I knew looked out for kids a lot and tried to help them get away from their own paths. Juan may have been in it for only a little bit, but his time was effective and humanizing in my opinion, and I've heard that from people who can't relate to the films subject manner as well. That being said Dev is great and I'm hoping he gets nominated/wins in the future, he's so young too and has quite a lot of time to show off his range/depth.
Kimmel just gets it. In every interview on his show, Kimmel knows that it's not about him, he knows that it's about making the guest shine. And that's why he is probably the best talkshow host of this era.
There was just something special about him when I saw him perform as Cottonmouth on Luke Cage. I did not like how they took him out though BUT with an oscar on the line I clearly understand now :)
Randy Cooper Diamondback felt like a rushed character, someone they had to come up with to try and get him on Cottonmouths level but I personally didn't like that idea either.
+Adnan Rao +Randy Cooper Yeah CottonMouth was much better than DiamondBack. I still liked diamondback, but Cottonmouth was much more developed, and much better acted.
Mark Calkins I think the show was great after he died but they set up an interesting conflict with Cottonmouth knowing Luke's past, it was made pointless after his death. They should've kept him alive long enough for that conflict to mean something or just not introduce it at all.
I remember when I was sixteen I had a similar experience. I was at my first party without my parents (I was also the only girl at the party and the youngest guest). I had a massive crush on the host and since it was New Year's, we ended up kissing, and it was my first kiss. Immediately after the party, I called my mother on my father's cell phone (due to my social anxiety, I was texting the host all night) and immediately told her, half-asleep, that I'd kissed that guy. Immediately, I was all, "Hi, Mom!" and her response was, "What's wrong?!" Parents are always prepared for the worst when you call them after midnight, lol...
Such a great actor! Glad he won! I'm not the biggest fan of Moonlight tbh, I thought it was good but not special. Felt more like it was checking off a list of things to have in the film to get award recognition and I couldn't shake that feeling for some reason. But happy he won! He deserved it!
He is 43 and looks about 35. He seems really down to earth despite his success which is refreshing. I just think though why do people wait until being nearer 50 to have a child I mean he has been with his now wife for 17 years! Hollywood types can't hold back the years Mel at 61, George at 55, come on your poor kids are having grandparents for parents.
A black Muslim winning an Oscar for an LGBT film. Boy, Trump must be a huge fan.
regardless if the film was about some lgbt bullshit agenda or not. This guy is on hell of a talented actor, and he deserves this. Have you seen luke cage?
Show Maker he didnt say the opposite
klausweasley *yuuuuge*
klausweasley what is LGBT
klausweasley Well, to put that into perspective: he is an Ahmadi, so the majority of muslims disagree that he is one of them. He's persecuted in most muslim countries and wouldn't even be allowed to go to Mecca. So I wouldn't celebrate this like most of the media does

Larry Bird your point?
Larry Bird Racist Alert !!
Larry Bird who is Kareem Abdul Jabbar, since we're just sprouting random facts.
Larry Bird if that's the case then you didn't have to mention he's a muslim
X M a L i K X muslim isn't a race... it's a religion
This guy is a great actor. Well deserved. Im a big fan.

Driftar he is amazing in House of Cards!:D

Larry Bird why do you keep telling people that as if it's a bad thing?
He's a troll.
yeah that's why I love him
My god he is so handsome.
Rachel T He's muslim
Larry Bird What does that have to do with appearance?
Larry Bird I'm a Muslim as well and handsome :) what's your point?
Rachel T it seems to me like this person has an issue with Muslims, otherwise he wouldn't have pointed it out like that.
Rachel T he is gross. Are you blind?
One of the most well deserved wins this decade
Aza Jabar you're kidding right. Dev Patel performance was light years better.
Miguel Munoz Dev was good but Mahershala brought magic and humanity to the role.

Grace Amazer agree about Dev! nice to finally disagree with somebody and be able to talk about it without being bombarded😂

Live,Laugh,Love she remind me of that grandma in victorious
What a down to earth and awesome dude. Congrats to him 👏👏👏
This guy, Mahershala Ali, is one of the best 'underrated' actors working today!
Kimmel just gets it. In every interview on his show, Kimmel knows that it's not about him, he knows that it's about making the guest shine. And that's why he is probably the best talkshow host of this era.
He's a good actor and seems like a genuine person
EST94 Of course Cuz gangstas keep it real 💯
Talented actor. And his acceptance speech was really classy too
There was just something special about him when I saw him perform as Cottonmouth on Luke Cage. I did not like how they took him out though BUT with an oscar on the line I clearly understand now :)
yeah I didn't like how he went out...plus I liked Cottonmouth a lot more than Diamondback!
It's funny how he is initially really serious in every interview, but as it passes he gets more and more relaxed
This man is a gift. Great talent, what a week he has had! All the best to him
He was AMAZING in Moonlight. He truly deserves that oscar.
How can you not like this guy??
last time i was this early cottonmouth was still alive.
Michael Garcia they killed him too early
Cloneme12 show went way downhill after he died.
Mark Calkins I think the show was great after he died but they set up an interesting conflict with Cottonmouth knowing Luke's past, it was made pointless after his death. They should've kept him alive long enough for that conflict to mean something or just not introduce it at all.
He is so intelligent, talented, handsome, funny, and his wife is a lucky man.

Such a great actor! Glad he won! I'm not the biggest fan of Moonlight tbh, I thought it was good but not special. Felt more like it was checking off a list of things to have in the film to get award recognition and I couldn't shake that feeling for some reason. But happy he won! He deserved it!

I remember first seeing him on House of Cards and he is SO HOT and needless to say a fantastic actor.
He is 43 and looks about 35. He seems really down to earth despite his success which is refreshing. I just think though why do people wait until being nearer 50 to have a child I mean he has been with his now wife for 17 years! I like his voice
