Thank you sir, for outlining so clearly, the time line of Mr Chomsky's conversation. Very helpful. Good of you to share. Thanks. Greetings from London.
Sadly, it's amazing how the government screams about Russian intervention in our electoral process. For over 60 years, the U.S. has intervened in other countries elections and just let Dictators come in. The shah of Iran, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Vietnam, Chile, just to name a few. It's time for expert diplomacy and BRAINS to settle the mess we got today. That takes the most Courage.
pbruc brooks You are completely right about that. The US as intervened in countless elections and no one bats an eye. The Russians are hated so much because Putin took a stand to globalism and now the US is fighting it. I like Chomsky for the fact that he clearly knows what the issues are but I disagree with his solutions.
O.k. , that's somewhat of a Fair statement. It's little known that during the hostage crisis in Iran during Jimmy Carter's term there was a State department Diplomat by the name of Gary Sick who's team worked 24/7 to negotiate the hostage situation and release I say Bravo to that! The Mliitary rescue before that was a big failure. Chomsky does lean to the Left, but he backs it up in terms of factual history.

Professor Chomsky´s reflections on fascism bring to my mind an opinion expressed in the late 40-ies by German writer Bertold Brecht " In the future fascism will have an American face¨. It is hard to disagree with it seeing America's consistent record of aggressions and crimes worldwide.
I know that might sound/read horrible, but I'm really glad that Chomsky is still here w us to witness and comment on what is clearly an important period in our history. His insight is much needed, we should all stand up as such and call out the bullshit w the highest intelligence as possible. that is our strength, that is our key.
If David Attenborough was our president then our country would be saved, preserved, fixed, helped, all of the above and all around GREAT. We need a president that is not "all about war, more military, and building a wall" We NEED a man like David Attenborough that will care solely on preserving our WORLD, in turn that will help our future, and the future of all living things including the Earth itself for 1000s of years to come. We NEED a man like David to be in POWER so he can actually make the changes that he wants to change for the better good of humanity. Solely looking to save our wildlife will in turn save our earth and humanity.
'What the farmer does not know, he does not eat.' As foreign customs and peoples, other policy options, together rather than against each other, prosperity for all, social security, peace and clean environment. Propaganda is so successful, because there are people who have given up trying to think for themselves.
This young man has been talking for more then fifty years. Isn't that a world record?we must really thank this young man for all the words he may have discovered, created that helps out society today to progress as far as we have. This truly is a world record.
I just back tracked and replayed what this man said. "The U.S. healthcare system is an international scandal..." I've never heard such a soft spoken man with such a GIANT set of balls
What Chomsky says is a fundamental truth as he understands processes very well thus sees clearly what could happen. Let us take notice of what he says as he is correct in his understanding of human behaviour. We need to make decisions based on doing the best for mankind and the planet we live on
Professor Chomsky is just paying attention to world events and drawing educated conclusions based on information from fairly reliable sources. This is no exceptional act of mental ability. He just reads and has an excellent memory. I am a huge fan but also very realistic about his point of view, which appears rather limited to his studies via academia. I think his experience shapes his opinions just as experience affects everyone. In the end, he is very knowledgeable but I have disagreed with his perspective on certain things such as in relation to responses (or lack thereof) to Global Atrocities and the operational policies of the US and our Military.
The working class wasn't as duped by Trump as these otherwise brilliant political commentators seem to think, at least not here in the Rust Belt. The vast majority of us did NOT support Trump or Clinton, but Bernie Sanders! But, you see, when we were forced to "choose" between these two candidates we despised, well, there's no way in hell we were going to vote for the candidate/party who robbed us of the candidate we overwhelmingly supported! Some of us sat out the sham "election," or voted for "third party" candidates, while many others became determined to make sure the treasonous criminal who stole our vote was not "elected." And *not* as a "protest vote" but because she convinced us that she was the "greater evil." A true enemy is preferable to a false friend.
Dan, how unfortunate. I sure hope you are not proud of what you did. You were not robbed. Bernie like trump was being helped by Russia. All you have to do is ask him if he was aware Russia was messing with the election, and then ask him why he decided to stay in so long. He wanted trump to win, so actually you voted for trump. Ask Bernie what he got paid.
It was the Bernie Sanders followers who didn't get closure. We didn't even get to give our votes to Bernie. He was bought off I'm sure of it. Plus he did look like he was roughed up a bit but nonetheless he stabbed us in the back. The DNC lost the election and how the Bernie Sander's folks were silenced! If Hillary had handled it well by letting Bernie Sanders people as well as himself carry on. By the way Bernie didn't recede -- and do you think with the 2020 election that the socialist are going to forget what happened to them? I think not --
there are aot of things that i like about the professor, but the best quality that i admire the most is the dedication to research that he conducts in prder to support his evidence. there are few intelectuals around the world that are as good, and even if one can disagree with his conclusion, one can always use his sources and notations in roder to further the work and evolve the analysis.
The average American (I am American) deserves our present (surely poor; but time will tell for sure) leadership. There seems to be a strange way where often leaders fill a void for their public, which any sane person should see as a sign of the poor state of mind of the average American. Chomsky has a beautiful way of explaining systems, where it's clear he understands issues from many perspectives, throughout many ages. So many people lack the flexibility and stability of thought to understand or accept what Chomsky and other bright minds tell us, "the public". It seems about 90% of Americans can't hold an intelligent conversation because of some pre-decided core value which they are unable to think critically beyond. I think that's why you have so many who want to reject his analysis, and claim he is dumb or propaganda. It's sad. Clearly, Chomsky is amazing.
The amount of national myths in USA is just astonishing. Few nations out there are more brain washed than the USA. One might think of former Eastern block countries, but by 70s everyone could see plainly through the primitive state propaganda. It's not that Americans are more stupid or more suggestive, its just that the propaganda methods and the amount of informational bombs is simply overwhelming for an ordinary person to stay level headed.
Chomsky is the ultimate reminder that we like to have people explain how things are but then when people do that we understand we should listen to them but also look to other sources as well to avoid being one-sided.
Jared Scharf trauma bond and abuse, the victim integrates that toxic reality frame in personal identity formation. Becomes a pattern of behavior, all cluster b personalities do that.
Atónio Lima, yes, which is another way of saying, 'ideology.' A certain set of values, even those that facilitate trauma as you say, are so embedded that they're seen as norms that people would actually be afraid to do without. It's not even really about policy. As Chomsky says, a great many Americans who believe they oppose 'Obamacare' are in favour of the affordable care act. Similarly, Tory voters in the UK have been interviewed expressing support for policies that are only espoused by the left-wing Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, but when they're told they're Corbyn's policies, they react with revulsion. So it's about concerted demonisation of certain abstract political positions (i.e. 'socialist' as opposed to concrete positions like support for single payer healthcare) and the personalities said to represent them. And people buy into all this without in any way understanding what they're really supporting. As Marx said of ideology: 'They are doing it but they do not know they're doing it.'
they are the zionist, you know fake Jews want to be real Jews., not the Jews we know to be great ,from Jesus, Mouses, Bernie Sanders and Noam and Wachowski sisters(or know as Brothers,Matrix. Some things Chomsky says are wrong, from time to time. But that would apply to anyone if they said as many things as Chomsky. I feel like we're lucky to live at the same time as this guy. His brain is a huge resource on politics, economy and human affairs and his observations make a lot of sense. The topics he mentions are eye-opening because the mainstream media ignore a lot while most alternate media lie to you with unfounded conspiracies.
Philosopher, cognitive scientist and political observer Noam Chomsky has been called the “father of modern linguistics,” and his revolutionary work has had an impact on everything from artificial intelligence to music theory. Born in Philadelphia in 1928, Chomsky enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania in 1945, at the age of 16. There, he achieved his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in linguistics, leaving in 1955 to take up a post teaching philosophy and linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - where he presently holds the position of professor emeritus. A revered cultural icon, Chomsky is still politically active, especially when it comes to issues of American foreign policy, state capitalism and mass media news. He has written in excess of 100 books and was named the “world’s top public intellectual” in a poll conducted in 2005.
Yeah, sadly it appears that the new boss is exactly the same as the old boss possibly even worse if that is even possible.. It is nearly time to start building guillotines not war machines....
While I deeply respect Chomsky I found this interview somewhat disappointing. It appears that he is buying into propaganda. I list only few points where I found myself completely disagreeing with him. - Syria. Assad is a leader who enjoys support from all ethnic groups - Shia, Sunni, and Christians as clearly was demonstrated during last presidential election. He is one of few leaders in the Middle East who promotes equality between men and women. None of allegations against him that he used chemical weapons to kill innocent turned out to be true. In some cases we couldn't identify the source of chemical weapons, in others it was proven to be Al-Qaeda/ISIS. If Assad goes then who will be in power? Do we want another destroyed country like Libya ruled by Al-Qaeda and criminal gangs? Do we ever learn? - I understand and partially share his dislike of Trump but it doesn't mean we should ignore the fact that our mass media produces so much biased and fake news based on undocumented and untrustworthy anonymous intelligent sources. They are real threat to American people and democracy. Their cheering for war is a serious danger to humanity as a whole.
When given a chance one on one with controlled intellects found it enjoyable for both of us . Dream of discussion with Noam on subjects not considered publicly . I believe him to be a good man and will make sure , given a chance . Don't give that much . Thanks
The veil of corruption is lifting. Fear will tear this world apart. We must unite with love to create positive change. Through suffering we learn. Anything is possible with graditude and love. There is always hope.
Naom Chomsky always has his eye on the ball, and sees all the underlying selfishness of many politicians. His books are well worth reading, and if I believed in a god, I would make him a saint!
Well worth sharing and listening to everyone.....I listened to the hour while doing other things online......and so much I heard is familiar and some not so.....scary world we live in!
Fascism seems to be to be about a strict political and economic hierarchy based on power and wealth - and I cannot see any way it is not anti-thetical to democracy, and it is easy to understand why fascists call real democrats communists. The basic tension in our former society seems to be that Fascism has a natural tendency to find, root out and attack democracy, while democracy only has a slight duty and responsibility for the reverse ... so naturally societies tend towards fascism unless they have built in hygienic systems, such as progressive taxation, the estate tax and a social safety net. The refusal of Republicans to recognize these democratic institutions and even attack them with the intent to destroy them is positive proof that they are un-American, and trying to destroy this country from within.
It's hard to believe Trump is easy on Russia just over elevated tensions. It's believed Trump has had business dealing with Russian oligarchs and mobsters connected to Putin. If this is the case, I want more investigation of these matters not less.
Agreed with everything Noam says, except the part where *if* we can take down Trump with the Russian ties, of course we should? Every single moment he's in office is far more destructive than it is hurting Putin's ego.
I admire a person who has had access and privilege to the highest intellectual property and people on the planet and remained humane.

It's crazy that Noam Chomsky is actually talking about Donald Trump hahahah
Ajay Pasricha you verbalized my thoughts.... it is crazy! 😱🤔
Absolutely delightful to see him looking this old. Soon he will be gone and forgotten.
Jay Kraft .... he will have a great legacy. You on the other hand, not at all.
Yeah, sadly it appears that the new boss is exactly the same as the old
boss possibly even worse if that is even possible.. It is nearly time to
start building guillotines not war machines....
Awesome intelligence in both depth and breadth.
Thank you for doing this -
When given a chance one on one with controlled intellects found it enjoyable for both of us . Dream of discussion with Noam on subjects not considered publicly . I believe him to be a good man and will make sure , given a chance . Don't give that much . Thanks
Noam with an OG jumper. style and brains.
My hero 🙌🏻
Thank you this was very nice.
Phenomenal.
Well worth sharing and listening to everyone.....I listened to the hour while doing other things online......and so much I heard is familiar and some not so.....scary world we live in!
No More War
Chomsky for president!
I think the saddest thing for me is that my children won't experience Chomsky, or his influence in the public sphere.
2017 and still in 480p... Luckily, broadcasts like these are all about the the audio and that's decent.
I think the forced removal of the doctor on a United airline flight is a game changer. A spark that makes people matter.
The term "Terminal War" is what I've been looking for. @49:07 this clears up a lot for me regarding
why some people now behave the way they do.
It's hard to believe Trump is easy on Russia just over elevated tensions. It's believed Trump has had business dealing with Russian oligarchs and mobsters connected to Putin. If this is the case, I want more investigation of these matters not less.
Benefactor of Humanity he is
100% true
Our country will never be perfect, but we can try to be better.
Agreed with everything Noam says, except the part where *if* we can take down Trump with the Russian ties, of course we should? Every single moment he's in office is far more destructive than it is hurting Putin's ego.
Noam Chomsky: Is it weird that Juan Gonzales always addresses you by your full name when he asks you a question?
As always an interesting objective perspective.
Oh yeah, these two definitely did it
The UN has never looked more impotent. Not a typo
Chomsky is the real OG
Chomsky: Have you ever been content with any administration, or have they all had their pros and cons ? Huh, come on ?!
HOLY SHIT Chomsky SMILED
Chomsky looks thinner and younger here. He looks good.
yes
His speaking against Russia & lying about Syria marks my first distrust of ^this guy. Dammit.
Oh, please, add subtitles or closed captions!
When did Duke Ellington get a job at Democracy Now?
