Emmy... I made this for my grandkids, and they LOVED IT!!! I had the REALLY cheap ramen (5 for a buck) so I added my own veggies... onions, water chestnuts, chives and red pepper... plus a can of canned chicken... the kids DEVOURED it. My 6 year old grandaughter is the pickiest eater ever, hates everything... she went back for 3rds! This is a definite keeper in the dinner arsenal! Thanx!
My grandma used to make this soup for me! Often it was a frozen veggie mix with some fresh, just whatever she had. But it was so tasty & it made me feel so loved.
I love how Emmy is always so sensitive while aproaching subjects like the needs of people on a budget, without a full kitchen, poverty or homelessness.
I felt validated when you just cracked the egg in the pan and then scrambled because that's how I do mine for breakfast! Family, roommates and my ex have all criticized me for not beating them first in a separate bowl. I just think if I'm only making two eggs there is no need to dirty another dish it's not going to fry instantaneously.
I used to do this but not anymore because once I had bad egg, now I crack it on bowl first, no need to scramble it tho, just to make sure it's not a bad egg
I love the genuine delight when she successfully plates it. I feel the same way when a new experiment (especially when I try to cook a dish from another country) looks like what I get in a restaurant. This looks like something you could throw together for friends and still make it feel like a full home-cooked meal, for a little bit of money (although that insta ramen is the expensive $3 kind!)
When Emmy starts talking, you really listen to it. Every word she uses to describe every food she makes or her speaking voice itself is like a music that never gets old!
I've been making this using regular packaged ramen after watching chef Chris Cho make several variations on Tiktok. You just bash the ramen up in the bag, add your packets and water to cover to the bag, fold the top over and prop it up against something while you prepare the rest of the ingredients. He recommends a splash of soy sauce, a little sesame oil and a little cheese to make it extra special. Its so yummy!
Ooh I’m gonna use the Top Ramen “soy sauce flavor“ in the blue paper bowl. Because it has a packet of sesame oil, and to me sesame is the flavor that makes something taste like fried rice I get at a restaurant.
I keep a big ol' bottle of toasted sesame oil because I ADORE that flavor so much and always add it to my ramen, fried rice etc. It REEEEEEALLYYYY does kick it up a notch! 🤌
there's a video of an actual shop in korea that does this and they pour in a bit of sesame oil and sprinkle some sesame seeds into the cup before putting the fried rice back into the cup (for molding).
Emmy you’ve legitimately saved my life😭😭 I’m 13 and I’ve made almost all of your recipes and now people think I’m actually good at cooking. All of these are delicious thank you!
Love when kids start cooking! You learn. A lot. My oldest never did till she moved out but my youngest was a picky eater and started cooking for herself pretty early on. She learned a lot about what she thought she wouldn't like but actually did!!
This is reaffirming what I had just made. Frozen vegetables work really well to the cooking process. I used frozen corn/ okra/green onions with the egg… excellent.
First off, love your videos. 10/10 could listen to you describe different foods for days. 2nd, my dad passed this past Friday and I’ve had you on repeat. Really the only thing I can pay attention to right now are your videos. Thanks for all of the hundreds of uploads for our viewing pleasure 🙏
When i was young, me and mom would always mix the little bit of noodles we have with the rice, cuz we didnt have enough to fill us. Beautiful memories.
Emmy you're the best food-describer on this website and it's one of the things that makes your channel stand out, you really take the time to get across the texture, taste and smell of the food. your videos always make me hungry but also weirdly satisfied cause i feel like i know what the food tastes like just from your description!
This is so clever because I always couldn't wait to finish the noodles in instant ramyun so I could eat the leftover broth with rice. You get small bits of the noodles mixed with rice (starch on starch, as Dave Chang would say) and that perfect seasoning! So I know that dish was good. Thanks for sharing, Emmy!
I tried this tonight and LOVED it. I hadn't seen the pre-cooked rice before and found it at the "W" store near me. I added about a tablespoon of soy sauce when all was in and frying. Quick, easy and very good. Thanks Emmy.
Thank you so much Emmy for making such wholesome and positive content :) Your videos are always so refreshing and inspiring. Also, I love the intro music :D
Omg that looks so good. Reminds me of one of my school cafeteria menu, they call it minas, an abbreviation of mi - nasi goreng, which basically means noodle - fried rice. It’s fried rice topped off with fried noodles (usually indomie instant fried noodles) and served with fried eggs, we usually garnish it with tapioca chips and fried shallots! Super cheap and loaded with carbs hahahah
i love shin black. something tells me when using it for a fried rice combo dish the salty-spicy flavor could be greater improved by adding a bit of sweet - even if it's just a handful of frozen corn, or a dash of sugar or something. btw i'm pretty sure the second soup packet in shin black is the beef bone broth!
emmy!!!! can you do some more recipes that only take a microwave or a rice cooker to cook? i’m a college student and don’t have access to a stove or oven and i need healthier meal options that i can make in a microwave or rice cooker or just with hot water!!! you’re a lifesaver!
Eating cup ramen while watching. Perfect. My favorite Ramen preparation is to use less water, no packet. When it's cooked stir in a tablespoon of peanut butter. Divine.
I wholeheartedly agree with you! Emmy is definitely a legend in her own time. I really enjoy being along to learn how she makes all of the goodies she makes.🙂🌻🦋
I wanted to watch this so badly last night but we had a pretty good family vibe going, woke up before everyone else and snuck away to watch this 😂 Great start to a Sunday!! Thank you for another great video Emmy, it’s so nice seeing someone without any pretense. It’s so refreshing seeing a creator be completely void of snobbishness or judgment. I know Emmy was raised at a certain social strata, and has continued to live at the same level…but the fact she’s so aware of how OTHER people live is just 👌🏻 🙏🏻👌🏻
It looks so good! I love making your other fried rice recipe as well! We make it almost weekly. It’s so easy and tastes amazing! I look forward to trying this recipe too!
3:44 the subtitles say "wild kale" but I believe Emmy said "wok hei" for anyone wondering! (wok hei is the fragrant flavor/aroma that comes from cooking in a very hot wok)
I’ve tried this recipe once before it came out really good. The texture that the noodles added to the fried rice made it really satisfying to chew. Can be a little salty depending on what noodles you use.
Emmy, you can also add the plastic rice bowl (Not vented) to boiling water in a small pot. We do that camping sometimes. Love your videos!! You always bring a smile to my face and your voice is so calming!
I wonder if anyone remembers Rice-a-Roni. It was like the Italian American version of this carb bomb. At one time it was very popular. EDIT: Apparently some people do...
You can get a cup of rice a roni instant like ramen! Different flavors (chicken, broccoli and cheese, etc). Like ramen, it's salty but is good for leftovers like ramen use half the packet of seasoning, yum. I always love Emmy' s show!
I just made this yesterday night for me and my boyfriend with the same exact ramen you had and we added chicken, eggs and pork and it was delicious!!! There’s something that’s such a guilty pleasure about carbs😍 we’re definitely going to be putting this in our recipe Repertoire!!!

I've made this a few times for my family, and it's always a hit! You can use it to clean out veggies in your fridge or from your garden. Works well with frozen veggies too (usually what we are able to get from the foodbank). :) Delicious on it's own too, of course, but with even 1 carrot it has a bit more of a dynamic and it isn't too expensive to acquire in cold areas.
Omg! Made this for lunch today. So excited it came out beautifully molded like yours. I was even impressed with myself. Thanks. It was a delicious lunch.
Absolutely delicious and simple to make! I would add more to my fried eggs for a full-meal deal. Chopped fried sausage or ham or crispy bacon (added last minute) and green peas, corn, diced peppers and carrots for more veggie. Bump up the protein by adding egg white to the eggs. Definitely a good bet for a lot of different flavours of ramen out there, for sure!
I went and made this while the video was still playing. It's a little gummy, but super delicious! I added yum-yum sauce and white pepper to mine since I made a little extra rice 🍚
There are other ramen/ramyun/instant noodle varieties out there this would make a good comfort food that I usually do on a rainy or cold weather. I sometimes add some slices of left over meat, onions, carrots and other left over veggies available in the fridge.
Totally enjoyed this video, I will definitely try this recipe in the future, my family eats instant noodles at least once every two weeks, so this is something that we have to try lol, thank you for sharing, I really loved the video and look forward to your next post 😊👍❤❤
awesome. its always great to combine favorite foods to mashup the different flavors. if you love cheese, try adding shredded cheese to your ramen or fried rice. its delicious!
When we visit Puerto Rico I make sure and get as much limber as I can while I’m there. My favorite is coconut but there’s so much flavors. You should try making it! I love to stick my freezer with cups to grab.
We make fried ramen slightly different in our house, Emmy! After soaking the noodles until they're just soft enough to separate, we toss them in a pan with a little bit of oil and fry them until they start getting crispy on the edges. From there, add 1/2 the season packet (or the whole packet if you like strong flavor) and an egg. Scramble the egg together in the pan with the noodles and then serve it 😊 You can add extras either before or after frying the noodles, depending on the cook time.
LOL-this is just how we would use up our leftover bits & pieces. Leftover meatloaf or meatballs are absolutely fantastic in these type of “floor sweepings” meals
I always add green onions to my shin ramen too... I have it with whisked eggs too and lately I've been putting a few slices of processed cheese on top to melt!
Emmy... I made this for my grandkids, and they LOVED IT!!! I had the REALLY cheap ramen (5 for a buck) so I added my own veggies... onions, water chestnuts, chives and red pepper... plus a can of canned chicken... the kids DEVOURED it. I always make my eggs like this when I’m cooking for just myself too! I call it “frambled” (fry/scrambled) - silently to myself, lol
I do the same, why mess up another bowl? Don't need more dishes to do! 😂
I think when you beat the eggs first, they lose flavor.
Whoever made instant ramen deserves a Nobel prize
I wholeheartedly agree. Friggen genius 👏
Momofuku ando created ramen. Won lots of prizes but not the Nobel, which I agree he should have won.
Instant noodles in general was made to feed a lot of people after the aftermath of ww2, it deserves all the love its getting
Adding egg and rice really elevates cup noodles. This would make a satisfying quick dinner on a budget.
