I ordered the Samyang spicy ramen 5 pack on Amazon because of you! I made the spicy cheddar one today and I thought my eyes were going to bleed and melt right out of my head. 😂 Worked better than Claritin. I can breathe again!
I just made this and it came out dangerously delicious 😩 I loved it! I added some corn, a soft boiled egg and a slice of spam since i didn’t have chasu. It was soooo good and I’m afraid that I’m hooked.
Thanks for turning this to my attention, Emmy! I make one more addition to this hack, and that is melting 1-2 slices of American cheese in the pot right after the noodles have cooked and before adding some of the broth to the egg mixture. It makes a huge difference in adding to the creaminess of the broth!
I’m from North Carolina where Duke’s/Hellman’s Mayo reigns supreme, but since coming back from Japan I’ve been a diehard kewpie user. Sandwiches, ramen, quick salad dressing, etc. Great on everything.
My husband does a hack similar to this too. Also I couldn’t love this chef more. She’s almost zen in her presence and presentation. I wasn’t sure about the product pitch but when I heard her support of women’s needs she totally endeared herself to me. Bless her! I’m going to watch more of her recipes now. I love instant Ramen. They're about 20 ¢ a piece. I like dressing mine up, too. But, I use the seasoning packet plus a bouillon cube of the same flavor. I have to eat up to 3,500 mg of sodium a day just to keep my levels normal. So, yeah, I even salt my pickles.
Ana Kelly: OMG😵, me too!!!! I'm not so alone in the world!!!👏🏻 I have a tough time keeping all of my electrolytes up, but sodium is especially HARD to keep at high enough levels to keep me alive! Then I started eating ramen everyday or nearly everyday, and my sodium levels are much easier to build and maintain. I too salt my pickles, often til they're crusted over. I can always tell when my sodium is starting to drop, because I can't taste salt at all, even if I ate a whole spoonful, when it drops alarmingly low. I also found that himalayan salt works the best for me, because it contains sodium, potassium magnesium and calcium. My magnesium issues disappeared when I discovered himalayan salt. My doctor was fascinated when I told him that I can tell by how the cramp behaves which electrolyte (or electrolytes) is dropping dangerously low. Don't want to frighten you, but make sure to keep those levels up: severely low sodium causes the brain stem to collapse, then death. Terrifying. You are in my prayers. 🙏🏻 Stay well.

Rhode Island must be an expensive place to live. Sapporo Ramen is 49 cents here and Maruchan is 39 cents. If you add an egg, Kewpie mayo, garlic and green onions to ANY ramen it'll be great. Thanks, Emmy! You're still the greatest!!
I found Sapporo ramen at the store today so I made this for dinner. It was absolutely delicious. I added some mushrooms and green onion to it. I'll definitely have it again.
I add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to my ramen. It thickens the meal and makes it so creamy. Thanks for the video Emmy, i will be sure to try this myself.
I use to make “ramen pucks”. So… in a 1cup-ish tuber-ware container I’d put some uncooked bacon, cooked chicken, onions, garlic, peas, maybe some seaweed, and anything else that happens to be in the kitchen. Top it off with some chicken stock, put it in the freezer. Once I was hungry, put a “puck” in the pot, top with water, boil, add noodle, enjoy. The whole concept was prep for later convenience, but make it taste good.
I just tried this exact recipe but with spicy nong shim ramen noodles. I loved the garlic forwardness and the creamy broth thanks to the Kewpie mayo. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe! It’s gonna be a go-to fav when I have the additional time to prep ingredients in advance.
Emmy, I hope these sponsors are paying you a TON to get you to devote :90 at the beginning of your videos to their ad copy. As an advertising producer, I know how looooooong that is and how much it costs. Please don’t give it away for cheap!
I love adding mushrooms, rice vinegar, ginger, and Valentina hot sauce to my ramen. Now I have a new option to try out for a late night meal 💜 Also thank you for promoting accessible reproductive health services!
Went to our supermarket today and in the international section they had fruit mochi. I finally decided to try them since you raved about them. Bought hami melon and mango. Was pretty good. Maybe next time when I feel more adventurous I'll try the sweet red bean paste ones 😀
Oh, the sweet red bean paste is the BEST! It's the only way I'll consume beans because I hate beans with a passion but that stuff is unlike anything you'd ever expect. 💖
MSG gives me migraines, so we have found different ways to flavor it up. We like beef ramen. We add ½ bone broth and ½ water, add a bit of fish sauce to the pot. Then cook per the instructions. Our other additions are nori, ginger and either chili powder or chili sauce depending on what’s available. Sometimes we add cooked roast beef with garlic. Green onions from the garden go on top. Soooo good!
in my water (about a cup, or 1 1/2 cups, enough to cover the noodles) I put in 1 tsp powdered chicken base, approx 1 tsp soya sauce, few drops sesame oil, pinch of dried chives, pinch or two of white pepper and a big squeeze of siracha (meh maybe a good tbsp), few pieces of dried ginger if I remember, stir, bring to a boil, crack in a egg, drop in the noodles, reduce or shut off heat and cover for 5 min. Completely changes it into spicy goodness.
I just tried this out, it was great! We don't have Japanese mayo so I just used ordinary mayo but with the smallest amount of banana ketchup to add that sweetness. I also added sesame oil and imo it was a game changer
I've used milk, added mayo and eggs (like this), cheese, salsa... Basically I tried anything that sat about in my fridge/kitchen that could have spruced the cheap noodles up that was dirt cheap. But of course a really simple one is sesame seed oil, that goes a long ways.
I came back here just to say that I have tried this just now and it really tastes more luxurious than just normal noodles... And the ingredients are easy to get so, I give it a 10/10
I just made this dish using an inexpensive Maruchan chicken ramen. Delicious! What a total level up from the basic soup. That fresh garlic is dominant and warming. Thank you for sharing. I love you Emmy. I just bought Kewpie on Amazon this month. It's eggy and a bit tangier than American mayonnaise, I love it. I used some in a cheese sauce with garlic and soft white cheese with cornstarch. I cooked chicken and added the sauce on top, let it finish cooking 1 minute before serving it. I call it garlic cheesey sauce chicken. Yummy! 😋 I learned how to cook from my family and friends who are cook's for restaurant's. It takes practice and skills to cook like a professional. I love cooking. I think of it as being art and poetic. It helps me to relax and release stress. 👍
As an American been doing this for decades, add in a few slices of american cheese and sriracha (use to just add chilli powder before I found that), toss some veggies in (fresh or pickled) and meat if you have it.. Mmmm-mmm!
@@CHANELRAY105 Was never big on boiled eggs, but I blame that on my mother she always did hard boiled eggs. But after learning to cook a soft boiled egg yeah I add those now too.

I tried this and loved it!! Definitely better than I expected... (btw I used chicken flavour noodles and regular mayo) My whole family loved it but I didn't tell them there was raw eggs in it 😅
Me too! Except I thought, since I’ve got the microplane out, why don’t I grate in a carrot 🥕 (the only fresh vegetable in my fridge), and it totally just blended in. A little sprinkle of chopped peanuts or pistachios adds a bit of crunch too. I bet this would be an easy way to get vegetables and egg into picky little kids too!
I’m definitely trying this hack. Love that you just add a few ingredients to the bowl and then use the hot water to bring it all together. So simple and I can even do this at work.
I just made this with my fav korean ramyun (Jin spicy ramyun) and WOW IT ELEVATES IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL. I AM HOOKED!! Squeezed the heck out of my old kewpie mayo in the fridge, and the rich garlicky soupy broth really takes the cake.
I felt inspired by you Emmy and did this at home for lunch today; oh my goodness, it’s SO GOOD!!! ❤️ I’m a complete convert, I think this is the only way I will ever eat ramen now! 🍜
I watch every video Emmy makes about ramen, because I enjoy all the different ways to spruce up instant noodles. I tried this version just now and... it might be my favorite! The savory, creamy, garlicky broth is so nice! I did have to stray from the recipe a bit: I used Best Foods mayo cuz that's what I got. I have the Sapporo ramen, but in Original flavor. I put a thinly sliced serrano pepper in the broth to give it a kick. And of course I added my favorite ramen toppings like crunchy chili, nori flakes, sesame seeds and a few dashes of fish oil, as well as the green onion. I also tempered the mixture so the hot water wouldn't cook the egg-- just slowly adding the water a half-cup at a time while whisking did the trick. I recommend this highly! So good!
Tried this recipe and OMG is my new favorite way to eat ramen noodles! I love the fact that depending on what type of ramen flavor you have you are always going to end up with a different ramen every time
I just tried this recipe and it is delicious, I added some gochujang paste for more flavor and I am really glad that I did! Thank you, this may be my new go to dish for the cold months!

I always add something to ramen. Spinach and onions goes well with an egg. Hot red pepper flakes are a yummy addition.
I always add the flavor packet into the cooking water so I can boil the soup and noodles together. The noodles absorbed the flavor better that way.
that's so smart!
@@chimeracooks Just have to be careful about boil over when you do it though as the salt lowers the boiling point of water.
Me too. 👍
I ordered the Samyang spicy ramen 5 pack on Amazon because of you! I made the spicy cheddar one today and I thought my eyes were going to bleed and melt right out of my head. 😂 Worked better than Claritin. I can breathe again!
Such a great idea. Next time I have flu I'll do that. Thanks for the tip!
I’m laughing 😂 but I so feel where you were at 😁
yeah those chili sauce packets aint nuttin to fug with, use just a touch, not the whole packet
I'm so glad to see you Emmy. I am feeling emotionally tender, and you are so lovely. ❤️
Hey, you made it through another day! You're doing amazing sweetie!
👋🏼And so are you.
You brighten up our day ☀️ Emmy
I'm so glad. ☀️
I know that sounds stupid maybe but I found it lovely.
I’ve been watching you for years and I love that you are very honest when you don’t like it. You don’t shy from the truth and you like to make a types of recipes not just ones in your wheelhouse
i usually add bean sprouts, cabbage, some kind of meat, and seaweed to my ramen to make it more appealing to me. Now i can never go back to eating cheap ramen without trying to make it a bit fancy xD
Ana Kelly:
OMG😵, me too!!!! I'm not so alone in the world!!!👏🏻
I have a tough time keeping all of my electrolytes up, but sodium is especially HARD to keep at high enough levels to keep me alive!
Ive never thought about the "necessity" to add things to instant noodles. Girlie you've just set me on a journey. Great advice! Thanks so much!
Do you ever just stop and reflect that you are such an interesting, charming person and performer that, in the first 2 days after you post a video, it has been viewed by more than 150,000 people? And that we watch you because you bring value to our day? I’d like to thank you - and also tell you that I use your videos as examples in my public speaking (college) courses in the Zoom/podcasting era. Thank you again!
In Michigan maruchan is only 25 cents,
This turned out so good. Had it for dinner tonight and it’ll be my favorite ramen hack forever.
I still have my EAT THE DUCKY MOSS shirt i bought a few years ago. I still wear it and get asked "what does that mean?!?!"
I got so inexplicably excited when one of the girls at work said “eat the ducky moss” one day. I was like “OMG YOU KNOW EMMY?!” 😂😁
I just bought one and I'm so excited!
That's awesome. It means nothing and that's why it's funny. 😂
👏🏼
I have been looking for one!
AH THIS LOOKS SO GOOD
Emmy, I hope these sponsors are paying you a TON to get you to devote :90 at the beginning of your videos to their ad copy. As an advertising producer, I know how looooooong that is and how much it costs. Please don’t give it away for cheap!
6:36 & 8:06 are just my guilty time stamps. You can have fun with them, as well!
I could listen to you talk all day. You explain all the flavors and your voice is so soothing 😊
That bowl of noodles looks so good it's almost a religious experience!
Can I get a *Ramen?*

I love adding mushrooms, rice vinegar, ginger, and Valentina hot sauce to my ramen. Now I have a new option to try out for a late night meal 💜 Also thank you for promoting accessible reproductive health services!
Just discovered the wonders of black rice vinegar. You might want to give it a try.
I have rice vinegar and never once thought to do that. Now I need to.
I thought I was the only one who added Mayo and garlic to my noodles and felt like it was probably some huge faux pas, haha 😂
I do egg with coconut milk and garlic (and ginger) but I've never tried the mayo!
@@emanonfox1709 add a splash of curry powder to that mix and holy moly it’s so good 😊
I've used milk, added mayo and eggs (like this), cheese, salsa... Basically I tried anything that sat about in my fridge/kitchen that could have spruced the cheap noodles up that was dirt cheap.
But of course a really simple one is sesame seed oil, that goes a long ways.
@@SilvaDreams and peanut butter! with chili flakes, cumin and lime
Would normal store bought mayo work?
I came back here just to say that I have tried this just now and it really tastes more luxurious than just normal noodles... And the ingredients are easy to get so, I give it a 10/10
I just made this dish using an inexpensive Maruchan chicken ramen. Delicious! What a total level up from the basic soup. That fresh garlic is dominant and warming. Thank you for sharing. Emmy, I watch you almost every evening before going to sleep. You have such a nice, calm spirit that makes your videos so relaxing.
Emmy. I tried this the other night when I was home feeling sick after my second covid shot, and it was amazing. I don’t think I have ever commented on a RUclips video but I just felt I needed to say that your lovely personality and cheerful curious attitude are so refreshing and cool. Your videos have cheered me up during sad times, and introduced me to delicious foods I never would’ve tried otherwise. You’re a treasure.
I love how Emmy is so inclusive with her language and word choices, the way she presents herself is so warm and welcoming, it makes everyone feel safe!
Emmy!! You should totally make a video of your top ten favourite recipes you’ve made since you’ve tried sooo many different foods!! Much love from Ontario Canada 💙
Dang, I wish I had seen this earlier. The bowl of ramen I had for lunch would have been more satisfying 😪😪😪
Going to make one now. I have a pkg of Sapporo Ichiban beef ramen noodle in the pantry. :)
Hopefully next time.

I think I might make this
Thank you Emmy. I love ramen or any noodle soup with an egg, coconut milk, shrimps or shredded cooked chicken, squeeze of a lime, Mae Ploy sauce, fried onions and green onions. Yum yum
Oh lastly but not least, slices of fried tofu and fish cakes. Now I’m in heaven. Woo whoo!
Chicken-Cheese Raman - slowly stir in an egg and add a slice of American Cheese. Another variation of this that I used to eat regularly when in Korea.
Yes! I can't eat instant ramen without American cheese in it now, best in spicy ones 💖🧀🍜🧀💖
As an American been doing this for decades, add in a few slices of american cheese and sriracha (use to just add chilli powder before I found that), toss some veggies in (fresh or pickled) and meat if you have it.. Mmmm-mmm!
@@SilvaDreams yes! All of this and I like a sliced boiled egg in mine
@@CHANELRAY105 Was never big on boiled eggs, but I blame that on my mother she always did hard boiled eggs. But after learning to cook a soft boiled egg yeah I add those now too.
Whoa, I've never considered cheese in my ramen. Ngl, it first sounded really off-putting, but somehow interesting enough for me to want to try!
I just made this and it turned out soooooo yummy, totally scratched that garlic tonkotsu itch 😭🙏 I used pork flavored ramen and my first homegrown green onions!! Def wanna try adding soft boiled egg and add some pork loin next time, too, oof the possibilities! Ty for sharing!!
I'm going to try this in the not too distant future. I may even add diced tomatoes!
Just tried this. So hecking good!
Now I often throw in an egg, but the addition of the mayo, garlic and onion make such a difference!!
Love these “Emmy-award” winning videos! I appreciate your research, attention to detail and presentation. Your content is a joy to watch!
So good. I just tried this today with Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup and it is so delicious.
I tried this and loved it!! Definitely better than I expected... (btw I used chicken flavour noodles and regular mayo) My whole family loved it but I didn't tell them there was raw eggs in it 😅
I was wondering if i could use regular mayo. :)
the egg cooks
The heat from the boiled water cooks the egg. It’s basically the same thing that happens when make pudding or custard from scratch.
Emmy sounds cool asf! Bet she would be fun to hang out with! ❤️
They called her Eazy E in college 😂
I’m definitely trying this hack. Love that you just add a few ingredients to the bowl and then use the hot water to bring it all together. So simple and I can even do this at work.
I just made this with my fav korean ramyun (Jin spicy ramyun) and WOW IT ELEVATES IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL. I AM HOOKED!! Squeezed the heck out of my old kewpie mayo in the fridge, and the rich garlicky soupy broth really takes the cake.
When Emmy uses a $200 kobenstyle pot for boiling ramen water you know she’s serious 😂😂
More like $100

No one has seen the end of this yet.. so I skipped to the last minute.. SPOILER ALERT: She lives, the ramen is fancy.. someone love me please..
I'll love you :)

I love you!
Sapporo Ichiban is already an excellent ramen. Their yakisoba is also delicious.
No it's not, they use the same noodles as maruchan and both are the grossest ramen noodles.
@@jaredf6205 ok thanks
I feel you, I also have much worse ramen in my country, so when I saw the package, I thought "oh, these are the good ones!"
i like the nissin "demae ramen" noodles a lot, you might try them🙂
I felt inspired by you Emmy and did this at home for lunch today; oh my goodness, it’s SO GOOD!!! ❤️
I’m a complete convert, I think this is the only way I will ever eat ramen now!
I love the fact that depending on what type of ramen flavor you have you are always going to end up with a different ramen every time
My mom would add a slice of American cheese to it so I could get my protein at dinner. It made it creamy too. ♡
try a softboiled egg. you're welcome. :)
I just bought kewpie Mayo and ramen yesterday. This is a sign!
i make what i call "fancy ramen" all the time where i add all sorts of tasty ingredients to make it super fancy
