I did not hate Miri in the beginning. She was as annoying as a real 4 year old, but she was so freaking ADORABLE, man. And their might not actually be any homoerotic nonsense between the two, but Kazuki rapidly devolving into an overworked house wife WAS pretty funny.
What makes Buddy Daddies special is because every characters are important to the plot and tackles how hard to have a family. Meanwhile Spyxfamily still have the "Shonen" spark on it which is why it's popular. But Buddy Daddies is like something a grown man/woman. Will watch. It shows how hard to raise a child and tackles child custody if you go deeper to the story. It's really hard to watch BUDDY daddies without relating too much. Even my bestfriend who was divorced find the anime very relatable because until now he was still fighting for her daughters custody. Anyway thanks for letting others Know how Buddy Daddies is so special
I'll simplify it for you. Spy x Family is a show through the perspective of a kid (Anya) while Buddy daddies is a show through the perspective of the adoptive parents.
What I like about Miri is, the fact she acts exactly like a 4 year old, I live with 2 four year olds so I know how irritating they are. And because she acts like a normal 4 year old it makes me happy
3:23 I also think that Anya has a more mature mindset given that she can read minds so she’s very aware of all things happening around here, while Miri is just a normal child
I did not hate her at all at the start. I loved how she was annoying as HELL but still in a cute type of way, just like your average 4 year old. This is one of the multiple shows that show me how badly I want to have kids in the future and I love that it gave me these feelings.
I seriously think both Miri and Anya are equally realistic. Miri is a realistic depiction of a typical 4 year old. meanwhile, Anya is a realistic depiction of a 5 year old who can read minds without even trying, and spends hours a day reading the thoughts of an elite spy; said spy being a master of decption and social engenering, as well as good at everything else.
In defense of Anya not being "realistic" She was a government experiment that can read minds, im sure she acts differently because of some trauma but with her new family she can somewhat release her inner child more.
Buddy Daddies was better than I expected. I think I prefer the relationships in this show to Spy x Family in terms of feeling real. I also like how important characters are more likely to die. That last episode wrapped up the action and family drama elegantly.
Thank you so much for explaining how it is different than sxf in words 😭😭I always knew it was different but didn't know how to put it in words, and you just kinda put my brain into this video! Love your reviews and love this video!
Watching Miri in this show and comparing that to the videos my parents took of me at the same age. I see no fucking difference except for the fact that one is me and the other is some fictional kid. They really got the kid element real in this show lol.
Buddy Daddies is like, everything I needed from an SxF fanfiction since these indepth stuff probably wont be shown in canon, and it’s even more a rare gem since it doesn’t revolve around the romantic tension between two parents. Fortunately, Buddy Daddies is canon and i wont have to cry over the ending and it just satisfied this cold soul more than any accidental-baby-acquisition anime trope could ever do. Plus, the action scenes and actual killings as part of their story, as it should!!!because!!!actual!!!hired!!!killers!!! takes the cherry on top. Plus, it’s the first canon duo that i actually dont mind as purely platonic, like, I could watch and read them all day as besties trying their best at parenting., when by now I should be in the BL feels hype train. That’s a first.
If I were honest, I like Buddy Daddies because of one scene that I shed in tears, and it’s her mother, despited wanting to redeem herself just to raise Miri again, only to get killed. This is like one of the harsh realities that kids had went through.
Don't usually leave comments under yt videos but can easily see you blowing up in the near future, perfect mix of comedy, editing and relevancy on the topic to keep the audience engaged. Keep grinding👊
I went into this anime thinking it's another 'turn off your brain and watch' type of anime. But after the first 2 episodes, there is nowhere left to go but forward. The ending is really nice and sums up everything in it's own neat little bow (which is not something a lot of short animes do). I highly recommend this anime, you will not regret it.
Literally this so much. I can’t explain how much it aggravates me when people call Buddy Daddies a “Spy x Family rip off”. This show hit me so much harder than Spy Family because it touches on so many different topics and has so much nice subtext that a lot of people can find something to relate to.
Honestly same. The main reason I didn’t want to watch buddy daddies is because I had heard that it was just another spy x family but boy were they wrong. This show is so much more than sxf, and in my personal opinion is even better. Because when sxf is funny and a chill time, I found that buddy daddies touched me in a deeper way, it almost made me cry ngl. The only bad thing about buddy daddies is that it isn’t longer.
I love Miri! what I enjoyed about this was that she was a realistic 4 yr old, she's annoying but cute (coming from someone who's not fond of children 😂) And I absolutely love the dynamic between the two guys, they're both hilarious! I'm extremely picky about shows etc, but this show is top tier 🙌✨🏆
To me, This anime was kinda more interesting than spy x family. In spy x family, there's a lot more mysteries and trauma shown for the characters, It kinda felt somewhat bland. Yes, there's comedy and wholesomeness, but not as much as i wanted there to be. I took occasional breaks while watching spy x family but for buddy daddies? i wanted to binge it the entire time. It just hits the right spots for me to keep watching with interest. Especially because i related to kazuki so much. Somehow a child just pops into your life, and now it's suddenly your responsibility. Just like how i had to be a parent to my brother when he was a toddler. I relate to Rei too, Just wanting to spend your days playing games and not thinking much about the rest of your responsibilities. Anyway, I'd rewatch this anime and still feel just as exited :)

Miri might Actually be Kazuki biological child from the wife that left, but they leave us guessing. Like she even looks like the wife by a tiny bit. Plus the two guys aren't even homosexual either and it kind of reminds me on an American show in the 1970's called My Two Dads minus the spy stuff. The plot of My Two Dads was that the mom had two baby daddies and didn't know who's the dad so she gave them both her kid and said one of you is the dad good luck and left and the two guys were stuck with kid. So this is somewhat similar too me. Or the Two and a half man show.
It sounds like the two main characters (the two male leads) are more like buddy cops (you know the whole buddy cop flick trope) who happen to get mixed up in taking care of a little girl that ruined a big mission for them (and they probably think said little girl knows their true identities or that they're assassins and she's a witness so they have to take care of her to make sure she doesn't blow their cover/spill the beans).

I already finished watch Buddy daddies when it came out😅, its there next to Spy × Family 😇& Buddy daddies speaks for itself with the actions, comedy, story & more importantly, the emotions 🥲❤🥲
I watched this anime when it was originally airing and while yes I chose it for the spy x family comparison it didn't take long for me to love the characters and their shenanigans. It's definitely one of those animes destined to remain a hidden gem but I think that only makes it better.
I came in watching this anime with low expectations, and came out of it crying and left feeling empty wishing for more of it. But this is very different from spyxfamily, same theme but I feel like they added more realistic nuances that let the audience relate to the characters more than spyxfamily.
Loved this anime. It is funny, dramatic, perfectly authentic, surprisingly close to earth and also super tragic. It is a beautiful show. Also, Miri is not annoying at all. I know so many real children that are way, way worse. It is never established if the buddies are homosexual or not. But it wouldn't change a thing if they were. Their dynamic work equally well as close friends or as lovers, it doesn't really matter because the story explore their family dimension first and deeper. The point is the assasins becoming parents.
Spy x family literally includes super powers while Buddy Daddies does not. They are two completely different styles and it's dumb to compare them just because they're two famous anime that features a little girl and two criminals. Anya is a failed experiment who can READ MINDS while Miri is just an ordinary little girl. This is made obvious even with their hair colors. Miri was meant to be annoying and the people who hate Buddy daddies because of that is just proof that the anime accomplished what it wanted. Im more than happy to leave the anime to people who can actually appreciate it for what it is; a dark but wholesome story about two traumatized men breaking free of their underworld and finding happiness because of a little girl who showed them what actual family felt like.
As someone with two niblings that are currently four, one of whom is a niece...Miri is very true to life. I live w/my nephew and I see my niece basically every week, so I can tell you that a four year old kid is generally going to drive you a bit crazy. Especially if they're the more outgoing, energetic type (which is honestly most kids at 4 years old). Also I live in the US, not Japan, but a lot of first-time parents do face the super ordinary type of sometimes overwhelming tasks that the Buddy Daddies deal with and ppl tend not to know about automatically. Like yes, writing your kid's name on everything they bring to school so it doesn't get mixed up. I love Anya, and she's not super unrealistic, but Miri is definitely the most true to life depiction of a 4yo I've seen in anime. Whoever wrote this absolutely has had kids, or direct experience with them.
Buddy daddies is incredible. The guy who said it was ‘lgbt spy x family’ genuinely has a shitty taste in anime, i’ve seen some of his vids and really. It was painful as a longtime anime fan to see so many incredible anime hated on. He compared fairy tail to boruto and said noragami was mid at best. It actually hurts
Bruh, he literally is a memeber of the "Trash Taste" podcast. While Gigguk has some L takes (like when he said that all breads taste the same), he has a good heart on the right place.
I watched this anime as it was airing and could not figure out why no one seemed to be watching it. It had a great first episode that showed promising characters, comedy and some action. And by the end, it seemed to me to have far more to say, had more relatable characters, and was more entertaining than its closest comparison, the first half of Spy x Family Season 1.
Damn, who knew ppl hated on this, i found it rlly good and the ending with that time skip was amazingg also W Opening song. Who cares if it's there's some similarities to Spy x Famly, I'll enjoy both of these anime shows either way🤣
Okay but anya was a experiment and turned into a telepath and in a trashy orphanage then had a spy adopt her and say he needs her to make world peace when that was the whole reason why she was experimented and shes 4 she didn't really have time to be a kid😭😭😭 (Sorry for ranting 😂)

I saw the title and instantly said what's new
I’ve watched this anime before and I started to love it but the last few episodes were kinda sad
Wait to they hear about Yozakura Family
This is a cool anime and I end up binge watching 9 episodes and waiting weekly for the next few episodes a fun and emotional watch.
because of you i watched this and i fucking love it
1:46 better call 911 because you are going to jail
"PhD in Nuclear Rizzics" Stealing the absolute fuck out of that, thank you.
Lets goooo new karu video
woop woop
I watched this anime as it was airing and could not figure out why no one seemed to be watching it. It had a great first episode that showed promising characters, comedy and some action. And by the end, it seemed to me to have far more to say, had more relatable characters, and was more entertaining than its closest comparison, the first half of Spy x Family Season 1.
I loved this show. Miri was absolutely adorable!
It’s like the movie “Three men and a baby.”
Buddy daddies was solid redemption finding happiness overcoming personal trauma hands down one of my favorite modern day ainme ❤❤
Damn, who knew ppl hated on this, i found it rlly good and the ending with that time skip was amazingg also W Opening song. Who cares if it's there's some similarities to Spy x Famly, I'll enjoy both of these anime shows either way🤣
Okay but anya was a experiment and turned into a telepath and in a trashy orphanage then had a spy adopt her and say he needs her to make world peace when that was the whole reason why she was experimented and shes 4 she didn't really have time to be a kid😭😭😭
(Sorry for ranting 😂)
Cool vid I'm gonna check the show out🙂
You should make a discord channel for us to upload your daily content if that's alot of work for u I can make one for you free of charge that's how I really enjoyed watching your vids :3 ps I'm glad I discovered your channel.
Bro lowkey I like this anime way more than spy x family
