Our laundry room was dark, dreary, and just kind of...sad. It had been on my to do list for a WHILE, but I just hadn't decided exactly what I wanted to do in here. Until now.

But now, it was finally time to shift focus to INSIDE the room. My goal was to add practical storage, maximum countertop space, and brighten things up. I think I succeeded. Follow along to see if you agree.

I’ve been following you for years. You are a master carpenter, I don’t give out those kind of compliments very often! I’m a 40 year, retired painting contractor. My one suggestion when you are rolling to always try ( if possible ) to use a pole, in your case a would have used a short one or a cut off threaded wood handle to help in the tight areas. You can thank me later!😂😂😂☮✌🏻

The after looks so much brighter. A much more appealing space to work in now. Nice to see a project where you got to do so much of the painting you love so much.
Haha there was definitely a lot of painting for this 🙈🤣 but once it was done, I guess it was worth it.

Wonderful build! I'd definitely like to get into cabinet building once I'm done converting my 100 year old garage into something other than a mouse/fox/possum house.

You’re right about those levels-I had to wrestle the washing machine to get it back 🤣 Bubs and lou got tired of following me back and forth between the house and the shop (I don’t blame them…I got tired of taking that trip as well!) so they mostly ended up hanging out on the porch during this one. I’ve been using and Loving ❤ Earth Breeze laundry sheets for almost two years. I switched to Earth Breeze firstly because I’m older and didn’t have the strength to carry jugs of liquid detergent to my upstairs apartment. Secondly I don’t like all the wasteful plastic jugs going to a landfill. Thirdly, I think that gross goopy detergent in my machine and in our water system is bad for the environment.

Looks very nice. I am a bit surprised that you didn't build a pedestal cabinet for the washer and dryer just to make loading/unloading a bit easier. I have the same style appliances and the extra 12 inches height makes a world of difference for me. I do like how your room turned out.
Thank you! I considered a pedestal base but decided against it because I wanted the countertop space above the water and dryer more. Raising the countertop there an extra 12” would make it practically useless. So I chose countertop over pedestals.

An eighth of an inch doesn't seem egregious, but it doesn't work. Darn! Your laundry room looks fantastic now! Thanks for sharing your expertise!
My dad always says the only difference in a professional and an amateur is that a pro knows how to fix their mistakes. I make a lot of them so I have a lot of experience fixing them 🙈🤣

Shara, I was so depressed when I saw the gray walls in your laundry room and found myself nodding enthusiastically when you brought out the white paint to change that. It was so much fun to see the last few video lessons applied in this video. I have to appreciate the work you put in and your ability to contortion yourself into those tight spaces. As a person that doesn't have a laundry room both of them are very nice but yes the latter one would be the choice and as always your thinking about your pet so of course there's a spot for him. Thanks for Sharing and happy laundry day...

Thank you! Knock on wood-we’ve had good luck with ours these last several years. I was hesitant to switch to a “fancy set” because I’ve always had the cheapest, least fancy washer and dryer. But they’ve been great. Our favorite feature is the “refresh” cycle on the dryer. It gets wrinkles out in like 15 minutes so we never iron anymore 🤣

What an awesome transformation!!! I wouldn't mind doing laundry with a gorgeous laundry room like that. Those open cabinets under the lower counter in back look like the perfect hideaway for Bubby if you put a blanket in there for him! Also, I think you solved a dilemma for me. I'm getting ready to build a new workbench but do not want to tackle building the top. I'm thinking those "countertops" you used might work just fine. I'm going to check them out. I'm wondering why you didn't put storage bases under the washer and dryer? That would give you space for your laundry baskets and make the openings for the appliances higher and kinder to your back. If the bases had wheels it would be easier to pull the washer and dryer out to look behind, when needed.
I didn’t want or need storage under the machines and the connections for the dryer are only 1” from the ground. So bases would be in the way of those and also I wanted the countertop space. Raising the machines even higher would make the countertops too tall to be useful for anything. So this set up worked best for our needs.
