Future tip - taking the time to prep will save you from extra work and clean up. If you patched, sanded and primed all the holes prior to painting you would have painted them at the same times as the wall. If you take off the face plates on light switches and plugs, it makes a cleaner look without having to clean up the plates, take hardly anytime to unscrew a few screws to do these.

Hi Becka, would it make a difference if you had top loader or a front loader like you have. Mike
I love having a front loader, but a know a lot of people prefer top loaders. Think it’s just a personal preference. However one of the reasons I like the front ones is because they tend to be much bigger than top.

I'spackled my walls and filled in the holes before I put any kind of paint color on them. That way, you didn't have to do any kind of touch up after you put the pain on the wall.
Hey Joyce, I typically would do it that way too but I wanted to make sure the wall was painted before I hung the cabinet and I knew I would have to drill holes for the support to get the cabinet up so I would’ve had to spackle before and after if I did it that way this time. Figured just do it all at once after instead 😊

hi, Did you end up hanging the wood as a stud ?, i dont see the gap between the wall and the cabinet. is it underneath ? i appreciate you reponse.
Hi, do you mean the piece of wood I used to help hang the cabinet? If so I screwed it into studs and set the cabinet on there while I screwed the cabinet into the wall into studs and then removed that piece of wood because it no longer needed the support once screwed into the wall. Hope that makes sense.

Looks great! When we redid our kitchen ourselves that is exactly how we did the top cabinets…… it was easier for me to hold the cabinet that way so my husband could secure it to the wall 😊
