After college at the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma he served for 15 years on its Board of Regents, and two years as Associate Evangelist of The Oral Roberts Association, (ORA).
In 1977, Pearson founded Higher Dimensions Ministries (now New Dimensions ), in Tulsa, which grew to over 5,000.
Bishop Pearson was consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1996 thru a College of Bishops headed by Bishop Charles E Blake, presently the Presiding Bishop of the Churches of God In Christ, the denomination he was raised in and through whom he was ordained in 1971.
In 1993, Carlton married the former Gina Marie Gauthier who is a professional Life Coach and Yoga teacher.
More recently, he has felt a passion to proclaim the "Gospel Of Inclusion" and has written a widely acclaimed book by that name, published by Simon and Schuster. It confronts the Christian church's exclusivism as being inconsistent, in spirit with the teachings of Jesus.
Pearson's frank and often controversial take on a number of different subjects has earned him appearances on television programs such as NBC and MSNBC's Dateline, ABC's Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley, The Edge with Paula Zahn and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, The Monique Show on BET, and a number of other television, radio and print media outlets. Bishop Pearson was recognized as one of America's 10 Most Influential Black Ministers by Gospel Today and Belief.net. He has received several honorary doctoral degrees.
Bishop Pearson recently served as the Interim Senior Minister at Christ Universal Temple in Chicago. He and Gina now host New Dimensions of Chicago, building a local multi-cultural and radically Inclusive spiritual community that emphasizes expanded consciousness and Self Actualization. His newest book, God Is Not A Christian, Nor A Jew, Muslim, Hindu...God Dwells With Us, In Us, Around Us, As Us was published by Simon and Schuster and released in the spring of 2010.

Hello Mr. Pearson, I just wanted to let you know that I have so much respect for you. I remember you from your visits to my church. ( I was an Elder at The Potter's House at that time.) I also remember the fallout and the shaking of the church when you began to become enlightened and dared to speak your truth as you now perceive it. At that time I was confused and wondered how you had become so lost until... I went to seminary and began to question EVERYTHING. My theology has now dramatically changed and I have not been able to put my Creator in a box anymore but I remember the questions many of my fellow seminarians had as we used to gather to chat about what we were learning or rather unlearning. The big question was "How am I going to go back and teach people this now?" Many of my fellow classmates considered the status and financial consequences and decided to continue teaching what the people were used to hearing. Others like myself stepped down from a formal post as we continue to study to find our way. But I know you put it all on the line to tell the truth and I can not tell you how much I respect you. Thank you for encouraging people to question the Word, question everything and study beyond the bible to gather how you choose to see your faith. You are appreciated.
alocintsruh; I TOTALLY agree with you!! Many of these "pastors/ministers, elders, etc" know these very same truths, but will not speak on it for said reasons! SMH
Thank you Bishop Carlton, for your bravery to stand on your truth and convictions. I have been a part of your ministry from your early days on TBN. I Loved you then , but today I Love and respect you more. So many are afraid of questioning the Bible because the God they serve has been humanized to look and act as we do. I was also a part of the Pentecostal movement and about 2007 I started really questioning the things I was thought about GOD. I experienced HELL with family and friends..about me having question about things written in the BIBLE. Today, I'm more IN-LOVE with God and feel free to enjoy life more. I know that when I do stupid things CAUSE and EFFECT..God is NOT punishing me. I also know I'm here to grow spiritually so when things happen...they are happen for me to grow and transcend. Blessings to you always!!
People choose to believe or reject God truth--the bible is truth. Jesus clearly lets people know heaven and hell is real--he state that in hell the worms never die--even fallen angels (demons) awaits hell....people do not be deceived. Jesus gave his life so we don't have to spend eternity doomed--Simple believe The Gospel of Jesus, repent of your sin, and accept Jesus into you hearts to be saved. Here's the deal about RUclips people if you don't agree, you simply don't watch period...Nobody kicks the door in at your house and tell you how to run it, it's rude and doesn't capture the attention of a person...just like Mr Pearson made his video to enlightened, you all can make a video as well instead of coming for him, your wasting time doing that when you can just share what you know in your own video to reach people who want to know the truth.

Born and raised Catholic, was attending a non denominational church for years, We moved and could only find an IPHC in the area, we love it, but understand where you're coming from. I,m the guy who told you we were attending Pastor Andy's Thompson's church in NC.. but after we moved the commute was to far, hence now attending Gospel Tabernacle. I,m a believer in UFO,s and all things paranormal.. Nice to have open mind. peace n love

I bumped into one of your interviews and I listened to the first few minutes and I couldn't stop and i ended up watching the whole interview, i think it was 45 mins long and it was like 4 in the morning (our baby woke us up). Two things caught my attention; you were worrying about your grandma and you were saying something about physical existence of hell or heaven. And I think it is very very brave of you saying something of that nature with a stature like yours. i am culturally Buddhist and we don't believe in physical estate of hell or heaven. We believe as long you are kind, you don't need to worry at all after life.
I consider myself kind, so whether I believe in this or that shouldn't make a whole lot difference; I am very very sure I am in good hands whoever those hands may be.
I see all the religions very beautiful. I think it will be very boring to have only one religion. I went to US to study and my friends tried to convert me but I don't feel the need because I have comfortably grew up in my own culture and secondly I don't find my Christian friends any kinder than lets say my Buddhist friends - kindness level we all about same.
But I do realise that Christianity is like a practice of mediation of our culture to grow spiritually. In our meditation, we use picture/model or story to lets say practice compassion. For example, we have to imagine there is infinite love pouring out from god Avalokitesvara. So, i see Christians use Jesus and his story to motivate you and we call this a meditative practice. Other than that I think its all the same. When i see how other religions different techniques to grow spiritually is a wonder.
And to go back to the main point, I totally believe there is no physical heaven. We say you will experience hell if you were not kind or committed crimes. And another big difference is our hell could start before you die and would continue to experience depending on the severity of the deeds.
I stop here, and my hats of to you for being pastor of all instead of just in your community.

I don't believe that the bible teaches that anyone who is practicing homosexuality is automatically going to be doomed to hell. They do not inherit the kingdom of God. only God knows those who truly belong to HIM. He will be the final judge. We can trust that no matter what, God in His Mercy will do what is right and Just. This is the bottom line. God is JUST. God is Holy. We, His creation can trust the He will do what right. About this fact, there is no need for pontification. What He says is right, whether we understand Him or not. What He died is right, whether we agree or not. We therefore are wise to pray God that we could understand His WAYS.

You cannot grasp God with with your mind. His ways are above or ways. HUD thoughts are higher then our thoughts. Is it our job to figure God out, or simply obey. Don't make it harder than it is. Trust and obey. Period. End of discussion. Because...God will do what He says He will do. like it or love it. Live or die. It's our choice... not God's.

Doom is never directed at people in the bible. God did NOT create man to DIE! GOD IS LIFE! Romans 6:23 states that the wages of Sin is death. The judgement is upon SIN itself. And then subsequently anyone who choose to make themselves one with it. God is Holy. He cannot be in the presence of sin. Anyone who choose sin cannot continue in his presence. Jesus condemned sin in the flesh. He gave us The Way to escape the judgement that soon will bring if we continue in it. It is not God's Will that any should perish. It is not the will of God that people die. people will ultimately not continue in the presence of God, at the end of the age, because of what they choose.

To say that God half builds his church or is ignorant is evil--be very careful. God has a church. And has call his people to assemble and receive help from God through five-fold ministry as we come together and worship God. God did it like that--AND THAT S JUST THE WAY IT IS. God bless.
