    I was a bartender for a long time, and this doesn't feel too different from that. I had regulars who were divorced and lonely. They'd buy me drinks and tip well. I'd ask about their kids, and listen to their problems. It's a transactional relationship, but that doesn't mean you don't care. And you do get attached. I was very touched when some of my regulars reached out during the pandemic, when the bar I was working at was closed. Checking in, making sure I was ok. Service industry, whatever service you provide comes with a lot of emotional labor. If you're good at it, you either care a lot, or you're a psychopath and extremely good at pretending.

      This is so true, it had me dying laughing because I am also a bartender. I think I am a psychopath though. I do have regulars that I care about but it is so emotionally laboring. By the time I get home I feel drained I don't have anything to put into my real life.

YOu just sound like you are overworked and have too much emotional responsibility

    • @tommyrex6648
      @tommyrex6648 3 года назад +24

      I mean to be honest, I hate to say this, but many relationships and marriages are essentially transactional. VERY RARELY do people like, GENUINELY care without either receiving something back in the form of money, attention, fame, status; etc. Most humans especially in today's world with little social interaction, CRAVE a sense of companionship and company so much they will pay for it, and I think many realize it's kind of an illusion, but most everything in life is an illusion when you really, sadly, think about it deeply.

      @James Franko No, it's not about getting laid that is why this is sad, they can easily get laid but they can't find someone to connect with. And who has problems crying alone? They could just watch sad movies and cry... How bad are they oppressed if they feel they need a guy to help them cry??

    • @shamkand
      @shamkand 6 лет назад +13

      @James Franko Yes I know there are people in the sex industry, but every time I see a documentary about host clubs, sheep boys and so on, the people that search for this just give me the impression that they are desperate for affection, not only physical needs. Also there are people that don't have partners all around the world... but they don't react in such an extreme way as to blow all their money on this. I feel that in Japan the pressure is so much they just go crazy and exaggerate no matter in what field :)) I don't know how to explain...

      Probably both. But the customers don't mind it even if the company's just taking advantage of their loneliness. Because that's just how lonely they feel. If they're willing to spend money on it, that already explains how desperate they are to get the love and attention that they don't get from the people that they already have in life.

      What you didn't get that's not about crying itself, it's about sharing something personal and deep with someone else, what those women can't do with others, so, that's why they hire that kind of service. Why do you think people invite others to celebrate something, why do they share their secrets with someone, why do they want people near them in their saddest moments or in their important days?
      You can cry alone, because you watched or read something which moved you, but, that's not the same, you're doing it alone and just keeping that for yourself.

    I feel sorry for the boy hosts; they have to drink every night until morning. That's incredibly unhealthy and I'm pretty sure they can't have that lifestyle for long. Their life seems also very lonely and sad. The videos that the crying man showed are all from Thailand: I've seen them all and they are available on You Tube. My impression is that people are looking for love, no longer sex. Sex only lasts a few minutes and doesn't really give you any feeling of happiness especially if you are paying for it. However, being in the company of people and, for example, crying together, as the women in the video pointed out, gives you a feeling of togetherness or belonging: that's exactly the feeling that we have lost in the so called "civilized" society. We are longing to feel each other again and I think, in the end we will!

      @@nicolapodgornik taking this at face value is a pretty common thing. If you can find it go watch "the great happiness space"
      It's a documentary about this sort of thing. Same as everything else, it isn't all glitz and glamour, there's always a quota to meet for the hosts plus you literally have to drink day in day out wether you want to or not on top of starting early and daily chores. By the time you're near 30 they turf you out because no one wants older men in that service. So you're out of a job with a fucked liver and kidneys. One of hosts in the documentary explains that while doing the job he got to a point of where he was playing a role that much for his job by the end of it he wasn't sure of who he really was, it impacted negatively on his view of women and as a result ended up unable to actually get into a realistic relationship and was lonely because of it. Not really a great way to live I reckon.

Wheter it is a good life or a bad life, that's up to personal preferences. But some people might enjoy it. I am one of them for example, and i'd love to do one of those jobs. How can the women not fall in love with the Sheep Boys?! That was the perfect interaction with a partner. I'm impressed by the skill and intention these men (Crying Boy too) put into their work.

      Actually his first few words are we sleep together. That needs no explanation since it’s the foremost service. But after that sheep boy would not leave even for most men after that they feel sleepy and need rest. Men looking for sex and then rest. Women need more after that. The real situation would be XXX first, then cuddle or talk like a caring partner or even cook for you. Women could not get this in real relation.

      @@brennathecatlover4360 Hope so, but 100 dollars per hour, that’s almost a universal price for something.
      Low end labor will get paid 10 dollars per hour. Hosts, hostesses got paid 20, 30 per hour for chatting and drinking with clients. (Hope you know Japanese hostess and host culture)
      Japanese men are notoriously passive, no approaching, pickup, hookup tradition. So interestingly even women need to pay to get served.
      Btw, boyfriend experience should be similar to girlfriend experience, right?
