I saw one of these documentaries with a Japanese woman who visit those places and it was different to what happened on this, because they needed a translator, plus, the pauses to translate, so, things didn't flow naturally and we don't know if they told them, at least in the case of the hosts, that they had to do what they usually do during the interview, because, the owner just approached that as what it was, an interview about their job, a problem of language barrier, perhaps. The last one, Shingo, handled everything as she was doing and they wanted for this documentary.
@PunchFor Pound that's so true....they come prepared to show some side of story while coming out to shoot....and will do anything to capture that essense.....i mean they're professional.... ofcourse the interaction of host was staged
There is something just dehumanizing about this video.. no real human connection at all, it's just a show until you run out of money for one more hour to spend
@James Franko No, it's not about getting laid that is why this is sad, they can easily get laid but they can't find someone to connect with. And who has problems crying alone? They could just watch sad movies and cry... How bad are they oppressed if they feel they need a guy to help them cry??
@James Franko Yes I know there are people in the sex industry, but every time I see a documentary about host clubs, sheep boys and so on, the people that search for this just give me the impression that they are desperate for affection, not only physical needs. Also there are people that don't have partners all around the world... but they don't react in such an extreme way as to blow all their money on this. I feel that in Japan the pressure is so much they just go crazy and exaggerate no matter in what field :)) I don't know how to explain...
@Lisasasa this is great I think. It's a lot more honest than traditional relationship where you are charged anyway without up front cost. So this is much more honorable and noble.
It is. But scientifically, humans need touch. If you haven't been touched in years, a cuddle is therapeutic and will back you feel better, even if you have no connection to the person.
The cuddling session is after the “sleep”. Male tend to really sleep after the “sleep”. Female would want to talk or attention after that. Sheep boy is a hard work since men tend to fall asleep after that.
I would recommend you watch Conan‘s video about fake japanese families. One goal of this companies is often to help people out in their real lifes. (Well maybe not the host club/maid cafes...)
Probably both. But the customers don't mind it even if the company's just taking advantage of their loneliness. Because that's just how lonely they feel. If they're willing to spend money on it, that already explains how desperate they are to get the love and attention that they don't get from the people that they already have in life.
What you didn't get that's not about crying itself, it's about sharing something personal and deep with someone else, what those women can't do with others, so, that's why they hire that kind of service. Why do you think people invite others to celebrate something, why do they share their secrets with someone, why do they want people near them in their saddest moments or in their important days? You can cry alone, because you watched or read something which moved you, but, that's not the same, you're doing it alone and just keeping that for yourself.
Not necessarily. I work with the Japanese and some of them understand English perfectly but reply only in Japanese. (I understand Japanese but if I didn't, then I would need a translator)
A little tip for you guys : 13:16 this is a wrong way to receive and hold a business card from a person in Japan and in Asia. If someone hands you something with both hands, receive it with both hands, especially when it's a business card ! It represents the person in front of you ! After receiving it, continue to hold it like gold ! (little bit exaggerated haha XD)
Thank you for the advise. I'm going to incorporate that into how I greet and give certain things to others where I'm from starting now, so the day that I visit Japan, that gesture comes more naturally. I tend to just mimic everything someone from another country does and speak in the same manner as to cause anyone getting offended. Thank you.
@On WUN So is it true that putting the business card (while they're watching) in your back pocket is like sitting on their face? Maybe it's just a myth. When I lived in Japan, I was always wondering if they'd be horrified if I did that.
The last scene was so cute. It’s really interesting to see that there’s a market for loneliness out there. And I appreciate the journalist for really carrying the story and helping us understand how it feels to be a part of the community over there.
Honestly I feel like we need to appreciate the cameraman like he/she had to follow this weird ass women and watch her flirt with Japanese men and continued to get good shots and not be fazed 👏👏

@@Q_QQ_Q could you provide proof please? Because especially islam gave women so many rights they never had before (such as working, speaking in court etc, and it banned child killings)!
Truth is, once women get to that point, where they’re lying down with someone willingly, beyond extreme deal breakers, i.e. body odor, obesity, humorlessness, etc., they pretty much will _backwards rationalize_ things they suddenly like about whoever is lying there with them, regardless of the specific dude. Even if a day before she expressed the exact opposite, like “I’m not into scrawny guys,” now it is “wow you have 0% body fat”. If he was chubby it would be the same deal. “Wow, you’re so cuddly and warm, like a teddy bear,” yada yada yada. Hilarious.

@WB Sims the people are quite shy it is true, maybe that is why so many people here are lonely. But at the first opportunity they start talking to you, asking a lot of different things. Hehe.
It's really amazing how Japanese people stay strongly in serious, deep character in an awkward situation and what it seems to be weird by other people.
I'll tell you correct answer (I've been living in Japan over 10yrs) Because they don't want to communicate. They just want to consume the one to jack off their emotional wastes.(sexual desire as well) It's kinda like a question of 'why so many handsome men are just buying whores not trying to date/sex with women?'
I feel sorry for the boy hosts; they have to drink every night until morning. That's incredibly unhealthy and I'm pretty sure they can't have that lifestyle for long. Their life seems also very lonely and sad. The videos that the crying man showed are all from Thailand: I've seen them all and they are available on You Tube. My impression is that people are looking for love, no longer sex. Sex only lasts a few minutes and doesn't really give you any feeling of happiness especially if you are paying for it. However, being in the company of people and, for example, crying together, as the women in the video pointed out, gives you a feeling of togetherness or belonging: that's exactly the feeling that we have lost in the so called "civilized" society. We are longing to feel each other again and I think, in the end we will!
Getting drunk for free in a pretty luxurious and nice place (probably eat good food in there too), flirt all night long with women, get to bang a couple of them if you are smart enough, get 1 grand a night. I do that everyday and i have to pay. And i normally don't get to bang someone. What a fucking sad and boring life, yeah.
@@nicolapodgornik taking this at face value is a pretty common thing. If you can find it go watch "the great happiness space" It's a documentary about this sort of thing. Same as everything else, it isn't all glitz and glamour, there's always a quota to meet for the hosts plus you literally have to drink day in day out wether you want to or not on top of starting early and daily chores. By the time you're near 30 they turf you out because no one wants older men in that service. So you're out of a job with a fucked liver and kidneys. One of hosts in the documentary explains that while doing the job he got to a point of where he was playing a role that much for his job by the end of it he wasn't sure of who he really was, it impacted negatively on his view of women and as a result ended up unable to actually get into a realistic relationship and was lonely because of it. Not really a great way to live I reckon.
@@gianthechmas9414 not everyone wants to get to their 70s, be in an healthy relationship and part of a society. Wheter it is a good life or a bad life, that's up to personal preferences. But some people might enjoy it. I am one of them for example, and i'd love to do one of those jobs. If i survive past my 30s nice, if not whatever.
@@iKnyx Not really. I can sleep and cuddle next to someone and sex is not necessary. Having an intelligent conversation in bed is worth more than the sex if you really want to know that person.
@@mariabardo6420 thats not what he was refering to, his talking about "affection" during cuddling with a stranger. its not about intellectual conversation either.
According to some studies, crying itself is not cathartic. Its a social signal to others that you need comfort. So it makes sense to do it with others rather than alone, except if you're ashamed about it. But you also need some comfort afterwards, and Im not sure how far this is provided by the service.
Men do more than that (go to strip clubs) for their sexual and emotional needs. So, why is it weird if women do the same? It's just different. They should open these in the U.S. i think there will be a lot of customers.
I think it's mainly odd because, in Japan, their population is plummeting while the US pretty much stay in a pretty stable state. Yes, we do have strip clubs to fulfill our needs, we have gay clubs too and I'm pretty sure women go there too yet, like what I said, the population is considered normal, although the divorce rate in the US grew dramatically so... crap
Women can go to strip clubs too...there are strip clubs for women as well. Thus, this comparison is invalid. Also, wanting to cry with a stranger over a sad video is just strange. It's not a need, it's just a sign of a disturbed mind in my opinion.

15:20 She asks "What is the boundary of how intimate these sessions get? Like sometimes you just sort of cuddle people while they sleep?" And he answered what she not wanted to hear!
Actually his first few words are we sleep together. That needs no explanation since it’s the foremost service. But after that sheep boy would not leave even for most men after that they feel sleepy and need rest. Men looking for sex and then rest. Women need more after that. The real situation would be XXX first, then cuddle or talk like a caring partner or even cook for you. Women could not get this in real relation.

The last one, Shingo, handled everything as she was doing and they wanted for this documentary.
she is a he

Hi
Lol I was like hold up she actually gonna talk personal with him?
Like porn, sort of.
There is something just dehumanizing about this video.. no real human connection at all, it's just a show until you run out of money for one more hour to spend
Its better than blowing it in the casino I think.
So if a guy pays on date thats cool and gentlemen behavior...but if women pays its dehumanizing...bahaha😂
I feel like cuddling with someone you love and have a connection with is a lot different than cuddling with some stranger
It is. But scientifically, humans need touch. If you haven't been touched in years, a cuddle is therapeutic and will back you feel better, even if you have no connection to the person.
I think at some point any touch will do
The cuddling session is after the “sleep”. Male tend to really sleep after the “sleep”. Female would want to talk or attention after that. Sheep boy is a hard work since men tend to fall asleep after that.
The love one can be turned against you when you start regretting being with him.
With a Strangers it moves on the same night.

@Jake from state farm I didn't know strippers have to drink too. I personally prefer to wash dishes than becoming someone else's slave.
That's why they're called boys. None of them will make it past 40 with that kind of heavy drinking😬
@@nicolapodgornik taking this at face value is a pretty common thing. If you can find it go watch "the great happiness space"
It's a documentary about this sort of thing. @@claudemoney6798 not necessarily. you'd be surprised how many men regularly go to the strip club to talk about their personal problems.
