Not to throw shade at this innovation, but from this video showcase, MooBus seems very underwhelming in its capabilities. The operational speed of 15km/h is extremely slow - even the average cyclist can easily reach 20km/h on smooth roads. The bus also seems to start/stop very frequently, like at intersections and crossings, even when no obstacle is present. Even the safety mechanisms don't seem to be well developed, as seen at 3:40 where the bus swerves too much. While these are still great developments, the technology still seems to be years away from being ready to actually go on the roads - and all that is before we can even determine if it's financially sustainable. For now, the uncle that drives my shuttle bus to the shopping centre can rest assured his job won't be replaced anytime soon. (Also, I noticed at 3:54 that the buttons are all in Chinese. Isn't Moovita a local company? How come they aren't labeling the buttons in English?)

GPS is very not very precise, especially in between buildings. I worked for a bus sightseeing company, it’s very difficult to get the announcements to play exactly where you want it.
No worry, FT bus drives still got at least 20 or more yrs of this kind of job as for the locals, since they hiam such jobs, these jobs are already almost all taken by FT, soon food delivery will follow when Boleh landers come over to take that too! So what jobs can locals be left to do?

This is a transition phase of human driver to driverless...at first it looked the system made the driver seems useless, but then the system still need the driver which we human trust more. All in all, it have to be in designated areas for this to work. Definitely not public road. Unless a whole new city with careful or well planned road for AV then that shall work well.
Seems like it isn't a very smart bus. Also 20km/h is way too slow and the speed limit on the campus road is 40km/h. Would be way more efficient to get a conventional bus to operate the route instead.
Too much hooha on this technology. Too much money plough into this with the end goal so distant far. I think all developments should just keep low, keep silent and test in the back yard until it's ready to make a news out if it. Just count the number of heads/people getting involved in this technology from development to assessing by a PROFESSIONAL AV Testing (means $$$$$$$) to deployment 100? 1000, 2000?? How cost saving can this technology be in the light of coping with manpower crunch and "going" green? Seriously? It's better off investing in other things than to this technology. Already 1 big company in SG gave up! How is AV ever be compared to automating or doing things repeatedly (gist of automation/robotics) in a e-commerce warehouse or an automobile assembly plant? There are many people boarding or alighting (numbers are there!) but you can never automate us, human doing this! There are only a few (less than hundreds or tens for the near near distant far, future?) to automate the transport of a group of people, how is this ROI ever, ever make sense?
True. Then again, doesn't the same go for human drivers just the same? Depends on how good the tech gets. I am more curious about the ethical questions that result from that. Plenty of grey area decisions where a human driver could not make a conscious decision due to reaction time - but programmers kinda will have to make a call on. Say, the car gets into a situation where it would run into a crowd of people - or sacrifice the driver. A human might not have the reaction speed to make that decision, or at least not while thinking it through...a computer on the other hand could have that in it's program in some way or another - which now puts us in a difficult situation, right? Because we need to make that decision in one way or another. And it is a question without a clear answer for sure. Then again, who would want to get into a car knowing that if the situation calls for it, would send you into a tree or a wall without you being able to interfere? Might be very rare cases, but the consequences are all too real. Heavy stuff.
