- If you have a clothes dryer, that makes a grinding sound when you are using it to dry your clothes, this video will show you how to fix it. When the clothes dryer makes a loud grinding noise, it usually means that the plastic and felt guide at the front of the dryer drum has worn out, and you need to replace it. This part is called a drum glide and a felt seal. Good news is that this is very easy to do. Most dryers will be like the one in this video. My dryer was making a loud, grinding noise, and I replaced the front top Felt and plastic guides, and now my dryer is quiet.  sometimes a loud noise in a clothes dryer can also be caused by a bad bearing, but usually the problem is some thing like you’ll see in this video, where the felt that the drum rides on has worn out, and the metal is scraping against metal. It is very easy to open the lid of the dryer, and then unscrew two screws and one electrical connection to remove the front of the dryer, and you will see the condition of the felt and plastic. If it is worn, you will need to replace it. eBay is a good place to look for new dryer felt. Look up the model number of your clothes dryer, and you should find parts that fit. I remove the old filter guide from your dryer, clean the glue off, and then glue the new one on and put it back together. That’s how you can stop a clothes dryer from making loud grinding noises while it is running.

Yes. It could be be starting to wear out.
