I ordered a brand new dryer from another state. It took it 3 months to arrive and when it did, it had more dents that I have wrinkles so I refused to accept it. My husband was home one day and finally heard the sound that the kids and I have been enduring for months. He watched this video, we've ordered the parts and he'll fix it on his next day off. Your instructions are easy to follow and it's short and simple! You rock!

This worked for me! I ordered me a a front bearing for my dryer like the video states, and we replaced it yesterday and it's silent and working perfect. I bought it from amazon for 25 dollar- the whole bearing kit. this video is wonderful, saved me a lot of time and headache! thank you!

This helped me out, our dryer was squealing up a storm and I was looking to replace the whole unit. I took it apart as shown in the video and verified I had the same issue with the sliders wearing down and ordered an OEM assembly that included those and the belt, felt, and the whole plastic upper half, for like $40. The repair took about 30mins for a novice to do. Hardest part was lining the top cover to come off/back on. Only surprise was all the lint I found deep in the machine, so got a clean up too. Anyway, really appreciate it!

THANK YOU!! I was working on a wood project last weekend and forgot to take all the screws out of my pants. Wife comes to me days later saying that the dryer was making a scraping noise. I was worried that it was a belt issue or worse. I followed your video and sure enough, a screw got caught in the ring area. Luckily no real damage was done. All fixed thanks to your awesome video!!

I wish you would have ran the dryer and created the sound. A worn dryer belt and worn bearings make TWO very unique sounds, and it would be helpful to users to literally HEAR the difference. Hearing the actual sound is exponentially better than words like "squealing, grinding"......

I’d say 90% of the time it’s the shroud bracket and the plastic gliders. The roller assembly and the band would be about 10% of the other problems and would be my next guess if it’s squeaking.
    The 2 different sounds are:
Yelping squeaking like a Seagull = front shroud & plastic gliders
Mouse like squeaking = roller assembly and or dryer band in the back

I tried and tried hard to really find out what this material this shroud is made off. The so called bearings are plexiglass type of material. Same stuff is used on all kinds of electonics from TV monitors, to computer screens. There are layers of these things in sheets. I have lots of them. Some of them are like glass, very clear and bright but tough. I think these shrouds are a sort of composite plastic or PVC.

Brand new that’s crazy that it already has a problem. I would say it was assembled wrong at the factory but you could take the drum out and put it back in and see if it’s just something simple. Maybe a piece of foam or cardboard stuck somewhere from shipping it out. That’s a crazy problem for a new dryer. Let me know how it turns out.

First, this is awesome. My dryer has been squeaking for a few weeks and after watching this I took apart the front and while the top of that shroud does need replaced I was able to move the two remaining plastic tabs to the top of it and put it back together for now and it stopped the noise. This will work until the new parts arrive and I replace the top section altogether. Can you tell me if the felt is important? My dryer has never been taken apart and it currently isn't in the track around the drum. I'm not sure why GE didn't put it in correctly but I need to know if that's important to put in new when I order parts. It was pretty tough to try to get back in there so I left it out for now. Thanks!
