Did you forget that Russia was an ally during WW2? There was the siege of Leningrad and Stalingrad at the cost of millions of lives All due respect, but should Poland return Silesia, Posen and the Southern part of East Prussia to Germany? Russia could have vetoed the German re-unification but it didn't. Just as the Poles did, the Russians expelled the German population from Konigsberg. The entire Polish nation had been moved 400 km to the West. I will grant you one thing, in 1939, Germany and Russia partitioned Poland. Russia received a large part of Poland that Russia attached to the Ukraine where it remains today. Perhaps Ukraine could return it? These are the ghosts of WW2.

Never skip the ads on this channel. This channel is such a super gem with the way they explain things. Especially when it comes to Europe’s history which sometimes is quite complicated in almost every aspect. Kaliningrad is a smart strategically place geographically and Russia has no intentions of giving it up. Plus Germany has no intentions of taking it back because 90 something % of the population is Russian so great on Russia’s behalf for playing it’s cards right during WWll.

"Expelled"? It was a genocide of the entire Prussian nation, arguably on the scale of "that other" genocide during WW2. People fled for their lives upon hearing the atrocities of the Soviet soldiers, those who stayed were murdered or raped to death. Historians put the civilian death count of Germans in Prussia and the other German territories east of the current German-Polish border at around 1.6 million.

A flurry of mistakes and omissions from the very onset. Konigsberg was never "true Germanic territory", the very term "Prussia" regards to Baltic, NOT Germanic tribe. Prusses were conquered by Germanics, just as many Westerns Slavs were, and then gradually Germanized. Technically, true Germans in many parts of East Germany are a minority, surrounded by German-speaking Slavs. Konigsberg was just like that, like Schecin and Danzig, a Germanized Slavonic trade towns, just Baltic by origin. Anthropologically, Prussia was less "true German" than Eastern Karelia is "true Russian", LOL.

I say one thing that maybe blow your mind - Russia is anti-imperialistic empire😂 but really, instead of colonizing like the West, Russia provided joining policy (like Chinese admiral Zheng He). And providing now. Do you know that Slavs not only one people in Russia? Do you know that Russia was built by Cossacks who are semi-turks? (When ukranian Sich was disbanded, most of Cossacks moved to Turkey, those who remaind incorporated in Russian Empire as elite warriors) So Slavs and Turcs are two parts of Russian people but not only them. Rus started surprisingly in Germany and Prussia (PoRussia - now Kaliningrad). Charlemagne of the Franks was fighting with Slavs on the territory of modern Germany and Poland, and the Baltic Sea was a Slavic Sea, thats why Slavic colony of Novgorod was based in the middle of Finno-Ugric lands - Slavs from German lands escaped by the sea and rivers to the North to live in peace as a republic of Nogorod (Russians had denocracy before all western countries haha). A few centuries after that Vikings were invited to rule, because of disorder. Those semi-slavic Vikings occupied Kiev and made it a capital of Rus lands from Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Not Slavs! Then went many Turcs tribes from the East to 'colonize' Rus. In the end they became Rus😂 and then Russia. And so on with Siberia which was Tartarian and was attached by Cossacks (not Slavs!). All peoples and tribes in so called Russian Empire was joined not colonized and they saved their culture. In modern Russia there are payments to northern peoples who keeps its own culture. On the South were wars of course. But thats explained by religion non-conformism between Christians and Muslims. Which was not only in Russia. But now Orthodox and Muslims are brothers in Russia. Chechens and many Caucasian peoples slowly incorporating to become Russians. Middle Asia was attached at a very hard times for Russia - during the Civil War. But now Middle Asia is independent. Russia gave statehood and left (as Soviet Union crashed). But what? Middle Asians people arrive to Russia and work here because their states don't work properly (Soviets left too early but they left! As an Eastern Europe after WWII).
Ok, finally. Russian people is close union of Slavic-Turcs-Finno-Ugrs-Siberian-Caucasians and all of this is one nation! And now compare it with Europe, with America, with their Afro Americans, italoAmericans and so on. They separating each other like nationalists and think that all should do the same. No! We are all the people and to be a Russian is to understand that brotherhood of nations! So Russia is truly an Empire but based on anti-imperialism anti-separatism but joining policy - to be friends with everyone who wants friendship, and to be enemies who wants war! Till they stop being aggressive. As the Holy Quran says.
Big Spasibo for those who read.

If Kaliningrad would be under Lithuania there's a chance that the same thing would happen as what happened with Crimea, because of all that ethnic Russian population of that territory. Although maybe not, because Lithuania is in NATO. So maybe it would be rather similar as in Donbas or in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. There would be a massive possibility of some kind of unrest from ethnic Russians of that territory.
