Hey there, love your channel! I appreciate the realness… sharing your, and your families authentic journey, especially recipe fails and foibles. Cause come on, who doesn’t f-up (love that you cuss also!) when cooking? You’re just real enough to share it with us, which is both, entertaining, and encouraging… the fear of failure stops people from trying. Thank you for generously being you!

Thank you so much!! This was such a lovely message to get - it truly means a lot so thank you for taking the time to do so. I've spent my life failing and soldering on, that's just what life is - we've never hidden our failures from our kids - and so I'm glad it comes off that way in our videos and I hope it does inspire others as you've suggested.
Truly appreciate this - lots of love from me and my clan!

Buy borrow bypass or bounce. I have this cookbook and was one of the suggesters. Can add that I made the Good Morning Muffins and at first thought they were just okay but I froze some and now am loving them with any fruit and sometimes almond butter as an evening snack. Also hang in there, Annie. Braces are a pain but so worth it!

And, for what it's worth, I think it's lovely that you are setting a good example for your children by being polite and graceful to the rude and judgmental folks who think it's okay to publicly insist that you raise your kids according to their beliefs.

Hi- I'm a new subscriber (from Wisconsin in the US) and love your videos. I'm working to expand my repertoire of WFPB meals and your cookbook reviews have so useful for that. And I love hearing from your kids and how they like or dislike the dishes you make. You have a delightful family.
I also have a cookbook to add to your review list (unless it is already there). It is called First Mess by Laura Wright and she is also from the Toronto area . The recipes in the book and on her website are vegan though often higher fat and higher sugar than I'm aiming for and I haven't yet made anything. But I plan to. I'd love to see what you do with her recipes. It is also such an interesting cookbook to read. Thanks for your youtube channel. It is so helpful to me.

The cooking is great and so are the reviews, but your family is just awesome....just the way they are. I am always happy to see a new video from you in my feed, as I know I am going to get honest reviews and lot's of laughs. I know some commenters say negative things about your kids table manners. Complete BS!!! As a mom that lost her 21 year old son to suicide, I would give anything to see his mouth full of food again and talking at the same time.😔 Childhood is so precious and fleeting! My favorite vegan gravy recipe:
    Mushroom Gravy
    1 onion, diced
10 to 16 oz. mushrooms, minced
    2 cloves garlic, minced
Bell's seasoning (or substitute sage, thyme, rosemary, black pepper, and a little oregano)
    s & p
    2 c vegetable broth
2 T low sodium soy sauce
    ¼ c flour
    sherry
In a skillet, saute onion in some oil with some salt.
When onions brown some, move to outer edges of pan and add mushrooms in the middle. Saute until most of their moisture is gone.
Clear space in the center of the skillet and add the garlic and some oil. Saute until golden.
Add some Bell's seasoning and some freshly ground black pepper and cook a few min.
Sprinkle flour over vegetables and stir to combine and cook a bit.
Add broth and soy sauce and stir to combine.
    Stir frequently as it thickens.
Add sherry towards the end of cooking.

Suggestion: have each person describe the flavours they taste in the dish. Different palates will be able to pick out different flavours. Since we all have different palates and flavour preferences this will be more useful verses if a dish is "good" or "bad"

My favorite vegan chili (from McCormick):
    3-Bean Chili
    1 onion, chopped
1 green or red bell pepper
    2 cloves garlic
    ½ cup dry red wine
1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
1 15 oz. can each black beans, dark red kidney beans, and great northern or pinto beans, drained and rinsed
    4 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon each cumin, oregano, and basil
    ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
    2 teaspoons molasses
    green or red onions, chopped
In a skillet with a little oil, sauté onion until golden, then add bell pepper and cook until caramelized.
Add garlic and cook a little.
Add spices and cook 1 min.
Add tomatoes and cook 15 min. or more.
Add remaining ingredients except green/red onions.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes or longer, stirring occasionally.
Serve with rice, topping with green/red onions, and optionally avocado and cilantro leaves.

Don't think I would like the lentil soup because I am not a fan of Indian spices, or the porridge, not sure about that one. But everything else looks delicious! The bread, tofu shakshuka, PB&caramel cookies, chili, beet balls, poutine and pancakes look so good! 😋 My library doesn't have the book, so I may order it through your link (it's in my cart). Plant-based cooking for kids, by Faith Goimarac Ralph’s. Keep in mind this is for little kids, BUT my tweens love it! Lots of great practical advice on how to include your kids in the kitchen. Plus the recipes themselves are yummy! Smashed potatoes with the plant based Parmesan recipe is so yummy. It’s the park recipe we make a large batch and keep in the pantry(like the “old” parm in the green can, but ohhh so much better for you) The recipes are great.
