I heard that the federal government laws wants 2020 and up model vehicle come standard alarm system includes remote start on every manufacturer along with standard rear automatic braking and forward automatic collision on every vehicle by next year. I read somewhere they wanted more vehicle to be safe in the road because too many car accident. Did you know about that Jeff? @ Fred Anderson Toyota
What does JBL speakers have to do with anything? My 2020 4runner limited has JBL speakers and this doesn’t work. It needs to have the remote start ECU and kit installed.

It's so dumb... Built in security is fine, but give the consumer a way to shut off all the unnecessary stupid features!! I have a 2017 lexus that chimes when I open the door! I FUCKING KNOW IT'S OPEN, BECAUSE I DID IT! And no practical way to get around the dumb feature.

I have a 2020 4Runner Ltd, and I have purchased a carlinkit 4.0 adaptor (actually I purchased 2 of them) but I can't get it to work. I mentioned it to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle new when I recently took it in for a 35000 mile service, but they said they couldn't help since it was an after mark addition. Are you familiar with this product and can offer any assistance on why it won't work? There's only a few simple steps, and I followed them to a tee, but the adaptor won't connect. Thanks!
Why are these things so loud when they start? Other trucks/SUV’s of similar engine size/type are not nearly this loud. Is it the fan running full speed? I own a 4th Gen runner, and have always been curious. Thanks
My 2020 4runner limited has paired up very easily to my phone IPhone 8. However, the volume when making making or receiving a phone call is so low I must use a headset. Is there a fix for this? I have already tried adjusting the volume levels on the vehicle Entune system.
You know what sucks? Toyota could’ve added remote start to any model with push to start without any additional hardware but they lock it out the topper end models in 2023, when base model civics and others eco cars come with standard remote, it shows how cheap toyota is.
Weird, so just an FYI. I recently purchased a 2020 SR5, it has remote start and I use it daily. I'm curious if you missed the button sequence on the black sr5 premium? or If the remote start is only standard on the canadian models ?
@@Dewdis_ I bought one, it’s a chip they add in. They were going to charge me $640 after labor. Honestly, the only difference between this and the TRDOR is the rack, the de-badge and rims. Save yourself $750 and get a full length roof rack after market. Absolutely love the 4runner though. Switched out the headlights with the Alpha Rex headlights and I get compliments everywhere I drive it.

@@Dewdis_ I didn’t ask about that, I would imagine it would. The Canadian version of the 4runner supposedly has all of this included, so it must be as simple as a piece of hardware they install so you can register it with the Toyota app.
I know, it's a dumb feature... I think it's because the car unlocks itself when it runs, so turning if off when you open the door may prevent theft, but dumb either way!
Remotec start is standard on most everything but you've have to get a Limited or Pro to get it. Crazy you can spend 48k for a vehicle and not get remote start🤦🏻♂️ talk about being cheap. Toyota is greedy....

Super disappointed that my Off Road Premium didn't have ANY of the Remote Connect features either. We use it on my wife's Camry XSE all the time.
I have the same model too, super disappointed as well.
My SR4 premium did not have it but I added it and had the dealer install. I like it. 🤗

Canadian models have better features for some reason like the dual climate control on the TRD premium. Here in the U.S mine does not have it.
When you say that your dealership can add on the remote start to my 2020 venture, is it aftermarket or just a change in code?

Do all 2020 tacomas have it I bought a 2020 trd offroad I tried and after I hold it down on the 3rd push it flashes but nothing happens

Hey question Jeff question I got a 2020 TRD pro mine used to work now it no longer works is it because my 1 year warranty is up from the Toyota app!?
It's a subscription basis. After one year, you either renew it with Toyota or the feature goes away. Your glovebox owners manual books explain it all.
