    Looking at a Lagoon cat…recommend you do some serious due diligence on the structural integrity of those boats. As an example watch the latest 2 videos from Sailing Zingaro…

      @jujuUK68 3 года назад +3

      And the Sailing Parlay ones. And the guy at the same boatyard next to Parlay. Huge problems with weak bulkheads on dozens and dozens of them. Frankly you probably can't give a Lagoon 450 away right now. There's an owners group that had something like 79 people presently signed to it.
      Dont touch a Lagoon 450 right now.

    • @savagedabs8536
      @savagedabs8536 3 года назад

      @@jujuUK68 It's not just the 450s check Sailing Zingaro they go for a sail in a 500 and it's insane how much creaking,popping and banging happens while under sail. You can also watch the gap between floor and door expand and contract and this is a brand new boat.

    Catamarans are crazy expensive to maintain. As to videos, on the one hand, you have to have a cat to be a popular sailing channel these days, on the other hand so many people have cats it is very difficult to distinguish between catamaran channels. I think there is a strong case to be made doing youtube in a monohull and showing some parts of sailing life the cat guys can't get. Cats are SO LIVABLE I can see the attraction. For me, I am just not willing to spend my future on a catamaran when I can do it for pennies on the dollar on a monohull.

    • @southernpaths2986
      @southernpaths2986 3 года назад +1

      100% agree. I know I’m in the minority (and probably just being silly) but I usually unsubscribe from channels as soon as they “step up” to a catamaran.

I'm with you Stephanie, larger monohull ..... that PHO sure looked good .. your friends with the cat, get then to get some (a case ) of the PHO paste ... can you get it on Amazon, ( just searched "pho soup base" way too many choices) send to them to bring back, but then again they are probably loaded with boat parts already. But the soup base powders should not be heavy. ..... thx for the peek into your lives .. and as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ...

    Okay, I’m still looking for a sailing channel that shows how to do survival cooking with Spam or canned corn beef. Oh well.

    • @DonOblivious
      @DonOblivious 3 года назад +1

      Sam Holmes Sailing makes some real "bachelor chow in a single camp pot while underway" sort of meals, if that's the sort of thing you're looking for. Canned meat like that are **not** cheap, so you probably aren't going to find a lot of folks provisioning it **and** showing off dishes on youtube.
      There's a LOT of stuff channels like this don't show. We see the cool fancy stuff. I'm not saying they shouldn't be proud of cooking pho or pizza or whatever, because she totally should be proud of cooking that on a sailboat, but the stuff that doesn't get filmed isn't as interesting to film and share. Like a fried spam + rice + canned veggie + sriracha mix isn't going to show up here, but might be a mainstay dish. There's just nothing interesting to film there: dice and fry spam, cook rice, heat veggie (corn, peas, corn/pea/carrot mix), stir, serve, eat. It's just fat/carbs/protein in a reasonable ratio and they stay fit so that's probably something they worry about. most of their meals are probably boring as fuck! Not survival stuff, which is almost entirely simple carbs + water, fat, or a combo.

    • @SailingJibsea
      @SailingJibsea  3 года назад +1

      We hope it doesn’t ever get to “survival cooking” lol but you’re right, lot of stuff doesn’t make it to video. We’re big foodies (more so me, Steph) so the majority of our meals on board are what we would eat back on land life, if the ingredients are accessible and I really enjoy cooking/baking something nice each day. We just don’t film most of it (it’s mainly displayed on Instagram for those who have an interest). But you’re totally right, if it were just chicken nuggets we were eating, we wouldn’t be inclined to grab the camera to show us popping them into the oven and serving haha. We’d rather fill the video with more interesting stuff we come across 😆
      Thanks for watching!
