Elephants and wild animals can be seen in the video.This very steep and dangerous road is considered to be a ghost road and the most dangerous mountain road in Tamil Nadu due to many vehicle accidents and deaths on this road.Kallati Road is in Tamil Nadu and starts from Thalakunda to Masinagudi and consists of 36 hairpin bends. This is not another hill road like Kodai, Yercaud, etc. in terms of safety. Kallati Road is more slippery and diagonal, which is the main reason for frequent accidents on these hairpin bends.
The year 2018 has changed the total perspective on this road by causing a major accident and taking the lives of five out of seven. The group of seven people came from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to Ooty for tourism purposes. They had been heading towards Masinagudi on the Ertiga when the car rammed into the 50-60 feet, side of the road, crashing the barricades.Post this incident, some solutions have been amended by the Ooty administration so that only TN-43 (Nilgiris District) vehicles or license holders are allowed to enter Kallati Road from Thalakunda, but in the other direction, all registered vehicles are allowed to enter from Masinagudi, which is located down the line.
