I stumbled upon this and thought... I wonder if I've seen this... I loved it! I loved the conversations in the locker room, I loved the skaters trash talking... this was really interesting.
What a treasure so far--seeing Julian Silva, my first favorite male skater, in the old Bomber panel jerseys, not to mention the feature on Joanie, my hero. Living in the midwest, the Pioneers were my home team for those couple of years and I got to see their many changing rosters. I forgot Janet Earp was on the team for a bit, but what I didn't know was that Rose Duran had been with them. On to part 2--
IN THE BACKGROUND WAS A NEW GUY STARTING UP A COMPETITIVE LEAGUE. CALLED ROLLER GAMES WHICH WOULD TAKE OVER WITH NEW GROUP AND ITS HUGELY POPULAR TEAM THE PHILADELPHIA WARRIORS AND IT MOST POPULAR SKATER OF ALL TIME JUDY ARNOLD WHO WAS MAKING MORE THAN ROLLER DERBYS CHARLIE OCONNEL.
Is the remainder of Joanie's segment posted anywhere? Thanks so much for this. I was working to get to training after high school when Derby disbanded. I made a trip to CA in '74 to check things out, but it was so obviously over. Heart-breaking. Not meant to be for me.
I tried but for some reason, the 2nd half of every video I've tried to load isn't working. I'm not sure if there's some type of glitch going on here, or not. Sorry!

WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THE MUSIC WHEN THE ROLLER DERBY CAME ON TV AT THE BEGINNING?

Really enjoyed hearing the skaters yell at each other, especially Joan Weston fighting against Dolores Tucker!

When this video was made, Bill Griffiths was already in business (Roller Games - NSD) for several years.
