I've watched part 2. You are FASCINATING to listen to. You're hilarious, you make excellent points, and you made me actually want to reconsider watching Gotham. I really hope you get some more eyeballs on this channel.
Strange will not use the cure for two reasons. First, he profits way more villainy, cuz he is a villain. Second, why then would you need to be setting up Batman, right? Jerome and Jeremiah are the perfect way for the creatives to get as close to using a character that they know fully well that everyone wants to see, that they legally cannot use, as they can. It is 100% fan service. And every one, not no one, gets what they want.
Riddler and Penguin are the Highest of highpoints of this show. As much as I felt bored at times, I was never bored when Riddler and Penguin were around, especially Penguin! Those two are The Best the show has to offer.
My biggest problem is definitely how DC wouldn't let them use the name Joker. They didn't want two live action Jokers so they let Jared Leto portray him as a wanna be Tajeshi Six9 and screwed over Cameron who portrayed the character brilliantly.
Called Joker or not, Cam is still an official Joker in my heart. Also, I started Gotham and don't want to watch all seasons if it's true that it was down hill after season 1. So when do you think is a good stopping point?
Actually, for season 5, Cameron is listed as Joker in some places in the cast. So, he kind of got to play Joker, but I see what you're saying. And also, yeah, Leto was GARBAGE as Joker.
TheMarvelLegoMaster Jared leto places as if the joker was insane which butchered it since the joker does such terrible things and thinks it’s normal if he did another version of the joker then the normal joker he would be a little good.
@@cornboyparth5154 Two Face happened during Bruce's early career as Batman. But... if Gotham is already showing Harvey Dent as DA and campaigning for Mayor, the series is dead.
@@h1.w590 they did no mans land when Bruce was still a kid and the joker got dropped also when he was still a kid, the show didn't give a shit about timelines or canon
I always hated things like Victor Zsasz being set up as an incredible hitman who never fails and then is written as completely incompetent and inefficient so that his main character targets can live.
@petercox9 Yup, and it sucks because I love Victor's personality and presence but the writers making him have stormtrooper aim or pull things like giving the targets sixty seconds to escape like Butch is just groan inducing.
I was mad that Victor was too much like deadshot and not like himself. Victor's a psychopath who kills people as a way of redemption, leaving marks on his flesh. he was a sinner, a gambler, a serial killer, not a witty agent 47 knock-off.
@Dr Comicman I think he's more like Bullseye than Deadshot. if it makes you feel any better, Gotham's Zsasz is also a psychopathic serial killer who leaves marks on his flesh. This version just happens to be a more psychologically organized, sarcastic, trained professional that worked for the mafia. Personally I'm torn. This Zsasz is different from the comics but I really, really like the character anyway.
As a writer, that's one of my biggest pet peeves. If you're going to set your main character up as having a skill, WRITE them with that skill. You can't just say "trust me, he's a super smart assassin" have him totally fail to murder ANYONE unless they're handed to him on a silver platter, then still expect your audience to believe that he's a super smart assassin. Even Suicide Squad does a better job (and that's not saying a lot). They at least set up that Deadshot's good at assassinating people by HAVING him assassinate someone in a clever way that you wouldn't expect.
OH MY GOD. I never thought about the show starting before Thomas and Martha’s deaths, but that would’ve worked SO WELL. God, now I’m mad we didn’t get that.
Heavily disagree. Their death was so out of the blue it was incredible imo. You just see cat woman stealing stuff and sudddenly you are in that classic situation of the killing. I like that they were just side victims. If they were in the show it would have been so batmanish again you know and we all know that they would have died so ehhh idk
When I first watched the show I would've agreed with how dumb things are. Until a friend of mine pointed out that the show, thematically, visually and storywise is basically a live-action comic book.
Somehow it didn't occur to you that that fact makes it no less dumb? Also, on early days the only people criticizing the show _were_ the ones _reading the comics_
Nothing like telling people to "calm down" for no reason. You know I didn't attack him right? Literally or verbally? I made observations, how you or anyone else takes them is your business.
@@futurestoryteller ehh, no matter your intentions, whether you were attacking him or not, ya did sound a little rude ^^; And I'm aware that it does depend on how people perceive it, but the way you said it really isn't a "oh you just read it wrong" kind of situation...like, if you didn't mean to sound like you were attacking him, just apologize for the misunderstanding??
To be fair Penguin has usually been depicted as older and if we're going off actor's age Riddler would be in his early 40s by the time Bruce becomes Batman then Mr. Freeze is immortal and Catwoman and Joker are around his age
@Hegel Guevara I'm pretty sure that Ivy isn't aging like a normal person anymore. She said that she isn't really that human anymore, so I'd assume she ages more like a plant than a human beeing.
I kinda liked where gotham was at the beggining even without the whole super villan things the city is still full of crime and corruption so exploring that was kinda fun for a while
yeah :( i liked the villain of the week episodes in the first season honestly. it made gotham feel like there was other crime not being committed by the main guys and gave us a break from the overarching storyline. idk i just wish we got more of that because it gave the screenwriters moments to breathe and make the arcs tightly packed and not drag on and on. ALSO where was jims detective work? like the votw eps gave him some detectiving but after season 1 there was a severe laCK smH
@@Skippymabob it seemed like that's what the show was going for with the villains, setting them up as Batmans rivals in the future. But after season 2 they seemingly ran out of ideas for the characters and plot, and just made it way too crazy to the point where most of Bats foes are dead. Hell they made Bruce as a kid Batman at one point.
At first I thought Penguin taking over the underworld and then losing everything over and over again was dumb. Until I realized, that's what happens in the comics! Batman defeats The Penguin, Penguin rises again, defeat, rise, defeat, rise, over and over again because comic books. That's also why I'm okay with everybody breaking out of Arkham on Gotham. In every other version criminals break out of Arkham Asylum all the time. Even the trope comic book death can be used well. Sometimes, I think both Gotham and the comics use it lazily, other times it's great!
But if we're talking about current comics, he doesn't. Penguin was high, but after multiple runs in blackgate and Black Mask and Two Face taking him down, AND Red Hood shorting him and leaving him in critical condition, he's no more than a common street thug. So much that current comics ignore him. And Gothams always followed and referenced dark storylines, hence Jokers face staples.
Problem with the show was that sometimes it thought itself as a serious drama show even tho it would have been much better if it just went with a more campy approach.
@@ultrabigfella no, what Gotham tried to do, but failed horribly was to pay homage to multiple established storylines Death in the family No mans land A killing joke And many more, but man did they ever screw them all up, I mean one mistake, sure, but all of them?!

What Hugo Strange did is extremely unethical thats why I assumed they didnt keep doing it. Not surpised strange didnt cure anyone else either, I doubt he actually gives a shit about going out of his way to cure people without some some sort of gain. Even with penguin, it seemed like he did it more to see if he could.
well i mean, its tough. theres killing them- which some consider unethical. imprisoning them- which is extremely expensive and in the comic universe they always get out and kill more. or you make them 'sane'. so i mean, pull the trigger. batman has killed more people through 'inaction' than any of his villains. but ~stare into the abyss~ and all that hooey.
dude is no one else realizing that strange has never had good intentions? his plan was for the cure to pass off over time and for them to reek havoc in gotham, which i do believe he specifically stated, but of course they would only do that for the main characters...
What makes Gotham amazing is that its so over the top that it becomes great and the overacting on some actors on the show is just glorious. It walks this fine line of stupid nonsense and amazing storytelling.
@Deutscher Geist ehhhh it's ok. Havent watched in a while though. I remember being real sad when those two dudes were up in space and they both died. I forgot alot though lol. Cant remember anyone's names execept Daisy and Coulson or however you spell his name.
@Deutscher Geist Yeah Lincoln was my dude. The hive dude was cool too but the dude had to die. Like the dude came back so many times it was ridiculous.
You know, I'm so used to watching the Waynes die that I didn't even realize what a wasted opportunity it was to kill them off in the first episode. Now that you pointed it out, I can't unsee it.
They don't have the rights to the Joker? But Jerome Valeska plays a Joker-like character so closely that he is everything but the name...What the ABSOLUTE F**K?????
They are not aloud to have the name "Joker" used. And the Valeskas areent aloud to have green hair, only lighter and darker shades of it. Its BS in my opinion. Wish they did have the rights.
In the next one I hope you address how big of a plot hole Isabella was -- a girl who looks like Kristen Kringle, loves riddles, and becomes immediately infatuated with Ed almost to the point of obsession, then dies without an explanation to the MANY coincidences of her personality? When she appeared, my main thought was "she's too good to be true", and then they went nowhere with her, instead choosing to kill her. It just seemed to me like really lazy writing with the sole purpose of breaking up Ed and Oswald's friendship-bordering-on-bromance. To be more positive, I really liked your video! this was fun to watch and I agree with many of the points. As much as I love Gotham, it does have some flaws. Keep up the good work!
I can't remember where I read it but someone said how Isabella was probably a creation of Hugo Strange which I like the idea of. And the fact that they killed her off straight away? I have no idea. I'm just glad that they did.
5 лет назад+7
And how she reacted to dying seemed more of a minor annoyance than anything lol I was sure she was either going to survive or have a clone or something
Hugo strange was always my guess, either she was a clone made to mess with ed or she was kritsten brought back to life under a personality also to mess with ed. I thought the same of mad hatter and alice, yes they said they were not from gotham, but it has strange written all over it and who is to say he didnt make them believe they were not from arkham.
Yeah like the other people commenting I assumed that it was- One. Some sort of clone/creation made by strange. Two. Kristen herself resurrected from death (Most likely by Strange but this is Gotham so there could be a bunch of other explanations) with a vendetta against Ed. Or my last theory is that Kristen had a twin or sister that looked exactly like her and she was trying to get revenge on Ed for killing her sister. I mean Gotham does have a thing for twins and clones. But then they just killed her and I was like wtf. I was expecting some sort of twist besides "This is thrown in so that we can make Ed suddenly hate Penguin."
It's funny because I'm not great with faces, so when Isabella showed up I was like "what's everyone talking about? She looks nothing like Kristen." I was totally shocked when I found out that that was the same actress who had played Kristen; the change in hair and glasses was enough to make me wonder why on earth Ed was so shocked by this random woman who looked nothing like Kristen to my eyes. But yeah, speaking of issues with her death, can I just say: even if her brakes weren't working, her steering wheel still was! There was no reason to drive straight in front of a train. *Turn your blessed steering wheel*, Isabella. *Steer* the car _away_ from the path of the oncoming train. Sure she might've swerved into a pole or an overpass or something, and I guess she still could've died from that, but there was no reason for her to just sit there and scream and drive the car in front of the train.
What I love about Jerome/Jeremiah is that I feel like he really did happen entirely by accident. I really feel like he really was supposed to just be in that one episode, just as a reference, but he was so good and people wanted him back. So they brought him back, just for fun, and then he was even more amazing. Like the final season is built with him as a centerpiece and I feel like that definitely wasn't planned at first, he was just that good. He's honestly my favorite live action Joker, he's really so good.
@@warrior1563 I think it's become sorta uncommon for nearly the entire season to be done filming before it airs. I think they film an episode or two passed the midseason finale then air it; then try and finish filming the season by like March or something.
To be fair it’s fitting... the joker was suppose to be a one off villain in the Batman comics and nothing more, he was the first villain Batman faced and ppl loved him so much they kept bringing him back, so I would say it was fitting for Jerome/Jeremiah to be let down the same path
The whole show went off the original plan with the second season. Remember, it was originally pitched as a crime drama, centering on Jim Gordan fighting the impossible battle to clean up Gotham. Then people complained so much about that they started having Batman villains show up as villains (or close to them) instead of just as people who would one day become villains and they kept Bruce around (I think they originally planned for him to appear rarely or even be shipped off to boarding school or something) and becoming more and more Batman-like. Now, to be clear, I'm not complaining or anything I just kind of would've liked to see the show as it originally was planned and we didn't really get to. Still, I'm okay with what we got and it managed to last for a while. Given that prequel series have a limited shelf life, something "Smallville" failed to learn, living way past the sell-by date.
@@tarekhaddadin3224 Yeah, they actually originally had Batman kill him (back then Batman killed the bad guys he fought, pretty much all the characters back then did), but the editor or someone saw the potential in the character and had the last page quickly redone to keep the Joker alive. That's why I'm so amused when modern comics flirt with the idea of Batman killing the Joker or when other characters question why he hasn't.
Jim, Fish, The Riddler and Penguin and “the joker” were all played so well but plot lines didn’t work out, and it missed a lot of chances. Also i am really upset about the death of Fish
I couldn’t agree more! I love his portrayal bc it works for *that movie*, but it shouldn’t be the standard for his character. I want a Joker who pulls some goofs and gaffs again! (I realize my pfp kinda shows my bias lol)
I don’t know if they did it on purpose, but the campiness of the show was part of its charm to me. There were parts where I rolled my eyes, but in all honesty, I was always happy to sit down and watch my nightly episode of Gotham. The stories weren’t always the best, but the actors and characters were AMAZING! Edit: I didn’t like Theo Galavan.
So things are automatically good and deserve to be loved if they're something new that you haven't experienced before? Interesting perspective. Why not throw yourself in front of a bus? That's probably something you've never done before, and since it would be different than everything else before, you'd love it! :D
@@unclenic9694 LOL the fact that you think its psychotic to call this show a travesty (don't take things so seriously) is fucking hilarious and one would argue that your response is much more indicative of borderline psychosis.
I don’t know how to describe how I like this show. There’s so many plot holes and convenient moments, such a huge tonal shift from season 1 to the later ones, it’s sometimes frustrating. Yet it’s the only show I’ve ever binged. And I enjoyed it the whole time. I don’t even want to call it “so bad it’s good” it’s more like “so campy and confusing it’s good”
Penguin (Robin) and The Riddler (Cory) had such a great bond especially at the end on the show. I love not only those characters but I especially love what they did with Jerome and Jeremiah’s characters. Granted it wasn’t always great but Cameron’s acting pulled it off and made everyone love him 100 times more.
Personally i feel they told the jerome/jeremiah twin thing really well and i was never salty about it nor did i mind they didnt have the name or hair color. Them both having the J in their names was enough plus when i found out about jeremiah i was nothing but excited since they didnt bring on a new actor it just meant we'd get to have two jokers but someday maybe after season 5 you ought to think about making a vid on what gotham does right great video btw cant wait for more content
I think the reason why they couldn't call him joker or use green hair is because of movie rights. The name of batman and joker can't be used by fox shows. Titans is WB so it's different
@@wickedshadowchester6297 they're both very different. Jerome is modern age of joker who laughs a lot and is actually very intelligent tho most ppl don't know it. He also needs batman to be joker. If batman died, he would become normal. Jeremiah is gold age of joker (1940s) where he actually intended to kill batman and batman interfered with his plabs
I seriously believe that Gotham is the best Dc series out there. The action is good, the actors are amazing, the batcat chemistry is AWESOME. It is a very good show. The only problem for me it is that the series is episodic

Gotham WAS the best DC series until Doom Patrol. Doom Patrol gets it 100% right. Probably because it had no baggage from the past.
People say Bruce's and Selina's on and off relationship is stupid in the show and im like " do you read the comics?! " Catwoman and Batman's relationship is on and off!
I’m writing a fanfic currently, and the concept is basically, “What if Jerome and Ra’s survives, and Jeremiah pretended to stay sane the whole way through?”
The show lost me in two main places: Jerome's twin brother, and Barbara Keane lasting as a character as long as she did. All her plotlines fall flat and she came to bore me. For the most part I loved this show, but I stopped watching after the joker twin season finale.
2:23 It’s because that’s not a cure. That’s brainwashing via torture. To call it a cure would have heavy Orwellian implications lol (Love this video I found in my Recommended btw so don’t see this as a hater hating)
That is true, lol it's also why Oswald doesn't want to use it, kinda wish I had elaborate more on that. I think by the time Jerome and Jeremiah come around Oswald would be changing his mind on using it no matter how brutal it was. I mean the dude has a pretty high body count you'd think he'd be more brutal about stopping Jeremiah, you know? I mean if you can't keep anyone in prison, and you can't kill them then your only answer is to "rehabilitate them" in this morally questionable way in the hopes they don't start blowing more things up again.

Quinn Curio that’d actually be a cool arc tbh. Especially if this “miracle” method ended up not working with them. The reasons why could be left ambiguous so the fans could debate, with a few hints here and there about how the machine might’ve been faulty with a loose bolt here and some rust there, and a few more about how maybe they’re not really “insane.” The implications of that would be horrifying if done correctly. And it would farther cement the Joker’s legacy as being someone Batman wants to cure but can’t.
This video was made before the three jokers were made canon by the comics. Society created the joker. That's it. That's why he can have an infinite number of backstories and adaptations. That's why bruce can slap him into acid or he can be driven mad by fear of just always be evil deep at heart. Gotham knows this and shows it.
@@ericschnautz6603 That has nothing to do with my comment, which was about the behind the scenes drama of Gotham as opposed to anything Gotham represents.
@@almostshawn3230 That's the point. The show should stand alone. The joker name dispute and the idea that the joker is this character that they couldn't get the rights to is ridiculous. It's hilarious that by teasing the idea of the joker and being restricted by not using his name, Gotham created the perfect adaptation. Gotham couldn't have the joker, but at the same time, has three of the best jokers, almost completely on accident.
"DC didn't want two live action Joker's at the same time" I heard they did the same stupid thing with their animated properties in the early 2000s with Batman:TAS and Teen Titans. Which is why Robin never appeared in JL/JLU and Batman never appeared in TT.
That research exists in-universe, though. He also clearly didn't try hard to bury it, since Penguin was allowed to leave Arkham and participate in society. That tier of criminal rehabilitation would be EASILY monetizable, too.
Also you forgot about that one time in the season 2 finale when they falsely teased Jerome being resurrected. Like, they used an actual recording of Cameron Monaghan laughing as the shadowy figure that looked like Jerome got off the bus. And then they never explained it. That was an entire thing.
watching this video 3 years ago was the catalyst for me watching through all of gotham, a decision that still has lasting impacts on my life and personality to this day. thank you so much for introducing me to this awful awful show that i love so dearly o7
The most amazing thing about this show is we all knew exactly how it was going to end, yet we hung in there through all the garbage and gold so we could see the kid grow up and put the Batman suit on.
I’m ok with the first episode opening with the Wayne murder because it’s a show from Gordon’s perspective and it’s more of his journey in the first seasons
I give Gotham an 8/10: Good characters, pretty alright writing most of the time, but needs to learn how to kill their original characters forever when they die, except for Grundy, Grundy cool, but should’ve stayed as Grundy
Dude the first episode turned me away so quickly, I would tune in during the second season and still found myself bored of it. I only watched all the episodes Jerome was in up until his twin showed up. Those were good episodes and really entertaining to watch... But everything else seems to flip if you're asking me. I could never get into it because it's spotty writing.
One of my biggest complaints about the show is why tf does Riddler have a mental counterpart who is evil and inspires him to do bad things? Isn’t that suppose to be Two-Face’s gimmick?
yes! and even the way they played it was bad. like the minute you forgot about the evil counter part he was back??? but it wasn’t like Regular Ed™️ was a saint himself
Arrow dips but flash is amazing...Gotham is a trashy comic soap opera that I’m sure never understood comics. I would have loved a Gordon show noire style and Bruce out of Gotham and training not butcher the existence of these future super villains...the interesting part of them is if they were a result of Batman’s presence! Penguin made sense but then they were teasing mr freeze, poison ivy, scarecrow omg the joker before Batman even shows up!!! Gotham could have been more about the mob carmine falcone and sal maroni instead we got jump the shark moments...flash literally has a shark and Gotham still beats them with how many sharks are jumping on that fucking show
Armando Castillo, Gotham isn’t canon and don’t go by comics. They can do what they want with it. The flash is just a cringe kids show that repeats itself every episode. Gotham is by far the best DC show and better then the whole of the arrow verse combined.
I was so irritated when I heard that bit about them wanting to honor the character, but they said that Jerome/Jeremiah were inspirations for the Joker. Not inspired *by* the Joker, inspiration *for* the Joker.
How is it possible that they don't have rights to the Joker? They have rights to every other character in existence! Catwoman, The Riddler, Penguin, and Batman? You're telling me that they don't have rights to the Joker but they have rights to everything else? That doesn't make any sense.......

I just wanted to see the future boy wonder... and the idea that Dick came from the same circus as the Valesca boys was so... *shivers*
Barbara being psycho in the series would have definitely explained why James Jr's the evil little shit he is in the comics. Having him in the finale instead of future Batgirl and Oracle Barbara Gordon would have made more sense.
I see your avatar is of Negan, you're aware that Negan and Gordon are not philosophically aligned? That if they were in the same universe they wouldn't be best buds?
ITell But whats the point of doing anything good then? In the show jimmy always tries to get the cops to be good and when they do, they just change back in the next couple of episodes.
ITell But isn't the point of batman is to stop crime and all that. Like other then never murdering, he takes down crime. It doesn't work all the time but still works.
ITell i didn't say crime will stop. Just that Batman is meant to bring hope to the people of gotham even though the sickest sons of bitches seem to roam there. But i guess im not smart enough to understand the complexity of Gotham and its dark knight.
The dumbest thing from season 1 was Liza (who beat up a rival to (the brink of) death remember, just letting Falcone throttle her without even attempting to fight back or struggle. Gotham's Joker (Jerome) was THE best joker though.

Brooke Harris Right? Sad that Jeremiah is the one who is in the spotlight, Jerome was miles more interesting and my personal gavorite by far of the two.
Not calling him the Joker is stupid? You know nothing of the general backround of the Joker. The Joker wasn't some dumb 17 year old kid. Why do you think DC didn't let them have the rights to use the Joker? Simply cause Gotham isn't true to the comics, or the general backround of the character. It's constantly suffering an identity crisis. Gotham is too goofy, and messy with how the lore works. It can't hold a firm grasp on how the characters work. They see the Joker and they say Clown Loon. The Joker isn't that simple. Gotham just objectively, is not a good show. Even a series like Arrow or Flash is miles ahead of Gotham. And Gotham is decades away from being as good as something like Daredevil, or Punisher. The choice of roles are also very strange. Selina Kyle has plastic surgery, nose job, and a mother load of makeup applied to her face. Stuff like this doesn't portray the character very well, and doesn't give the viewer a firm understanding of the character. I could go on and on about how bad this show is and how it seems to get worse and worse.
I was hoping it would be a show about Gordon slowly becoming the comisionor and showing how Gotham dealt with villains before batman but it's now a cringy fan service mess
So glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about the show. The inclusion of the Batman mythos became so overt, and the show felt ridiculously cartoonish as a result; I wanted to see Gordon's journey to becoming Commissioner and the development of his friendship with Bruce along the way, not a show where the latter becomes Batman when he's barely a teenager and his rogues' gallery exists in full force around two decades before they should be up to no good.
@@YourDeath311 I don't really find it cleaver but I just find it fun even some of the more ridiculous moments like The Balloon Man I just find soo absurd that I just have to laugh. Why are you blaming DC? Warner Brothers is who controls who has the rights to use the characters, not DC.
they weren’t allowed to it’s a legal problem pretty sure
Lol what? Jared Leto is a far better actor, Suicide Squad just happened to suck sweaty donkey balls.

They at least set up that Deadshot's good at assassinating people by HAVING him assassinate someone in a clever way that you wouldn't expect.

yeah :(
i liked the villain of the week episodes in the first season honestly. it made gotham feel like there was other crime not being committed by the main guys and gave us a break from the overarching storyline. idk i just wish we got more of that because it gave the screenwriters moments to breathe and make the arcs tightly packed and not drag on and on.

YES YOU REFERENCED HOLY MUSICAL B@MAN. Btw can we just appreciate Cameron, he’s so lovely and just deserves to be appreciated as the joker.
God, I hated Theo Galavan. Such a boring character.

Jay McTeague maybe not. I’m not sure but I think they are almost done filming the entire season before the first episode airs

Jeremiah was soooo boring
2:23 It’s because that’s not a cure. That’s brainwashing via torture. To call it a cure would have heavy Orwellian implications lol
(Love this video I found in my Recommended btw so don’t see this as a hater hating)
Ya think the Penguin really cares about a little torture if it would mean he could run Gotham? Or Strange, for that matter?
I felt SO BAD about all the horrible things that happened to Penguin after his conditioning.
Producer: The Joker has green hair and white skin. Your guy has green hair and white skin.
Gotham: No, actually he's pale with lime-green hair.
I just like the actors and the different way they’re going about things it’s interesting and entertaining I love the show
"DC didn't want two live action Joker's at the same time" I heard they did the same stupid thing with their animated properties in the early 2000s with Batman:TAS and Teen Titans. Which is why Robin never appeared in JL/JLU and Batman never appeared in TT.
Strange would honestly never “cure” anyone unless it helps him out in some way or expand his knowledge
Joker, sorry jerome/jeremiah's had more ressurections than Ra'as Al Ghul

META COPS I’m just so sad. I literally got into Gotham at the end of season 4 and then boom last season ... wtf??
That's because Gotham was getting so ridiculous that it needed to end. Honestly, I'm surprised it lasted this long.
Armando Castillo flash might be the worst television show I’ve ever watched, watching one episode beyond season 2 is unbearable...
You get a cookie for referencing Holy Musical Batman
I was so irritated when I heard that bit about them wanting to honor the character, but they said that Jerome/Jeremiah were inspirations for the Joker. Not inspired *by* the Joker, inspiration *for* the Joker.
How is it possible that they don't have rights to the Joker? They have rights to every other character in existence! Catwoman, The Riddler, Penguin, and Batman? You're telling me that they don't have rights to the Joker but they have rights to everything else?
That doesn't make any sense.......
They're using joker in movies atm
@@SantaPorter420 what movie? a new joker movie is coming out?
@@unlimitedperseverance1706 serious? Jaquin Phoenix is doing a killing joke adaptation, I think it comes out in October, check IMDb

Wow I can't believe I didn't know about it 😞😮
@@unlimitedperseverance1706 all good dude, there's been fake trailers up for months using old footage from pheonixs movies and dailies from joker, hopefully the actual movie turns out well
wtf, just finished the show and its the best show ive ever seen. It really surprised me when i started lookinh up videos on Yt and found out people hated on it
William HH same, but it can’t be too horrible if it’s lasted this long. I still like it. I don’t care what anybody says.
@@redmoon9650 Same, really hyped for season 5
William HH literally watch this video if you wanna know why you fool. She explains why it’s so shitty
Red Moon 96 what lol? American idol has been on for twenty years and that show is shit. Horrific logic that only a child would think of
I love this
Gotham was amazing until they killed jerome joker and brought in the mob boss's daughter
But I liked Sofia
I like the Sofia arc. Her and the Pyg character are dark and full of surprises. Also freshen up the villain scene.
@@dakotatrue12 sofia hate train rise up!
@@notnot9476 I hated Sofia a lot but maybe that’s just because I’m a penguin fan 😭
Gotham has brought more people back from the dead than a celebrity reality tv show
Agree with everything you say. But the show is awesome anyways I'm gonna miss it
I'm not
"Quick robin pet it" *Epic music plays in the background*
The treatment used to turn penguin temporarily good was also used on all the other villains in an adam west animated movie, it didn't work...because they were just too evil.
I think you love Gotham and actually love it very much. You can't have so many not perfect details picked out if you don't care for the show
I dont think she ever said she hates 9r disliked Gotham.
I only started getting REALLY into Gotham when it got dumb! And I'm a pretty knowledgeable Batman nerd!
It just went bananas and I was thrilled! The only thing that bugged me that was Barbara had... Barbara... like... really? No James Jr. huh? Um... ok. lol
Also I just wanted 1 tiiiiiiiiny cameo of baby Dick Grayson. I didn't care how they did it.
That conditioning storyline gave me hard Clockwork Orange vibes and I honestly loved it
Heath Ledger’s Joker was a nobody, unknown, and blank... And that’s how you make a Joker.
God I loved Heath’s Joker
Do you dislike Alan Moore's Joker?
Jack Nicholson was best joker
Daemon Spade Yes... To me it was just an actor playing as a deranged man in clown makeup. Heath became The Joker.
@@saintpoli6800 What actor?....smh I'm talking about the comic.
Daemon Spade Oh shit haha, I wouldn’t know then. Sadly have never read the comics.
Existing in a universe where the joker isn't allowed to exist is honestly pretty in character for the joker
I love the show. The actors are good. The penguin, The Riddler, The Joker, Harvey, and James Gordon
Penguin is great, Riddler is... okay, Joker is good, Harvey... Idk, I barely saw him, Gordon is *awful*
@@futurestoryteller how is Gordon awful? He is *beat* for *beat* the character of James Gordon.
Yeah, sure, sullen, growley, a murderer - exactly the same.

I genuinely just enjoy the show as an easy watching, brain turning off kind of show
The fact that criminals can leave arkham asylum so easily shows the corruption in the city. 12:14
ITell But whats the point of doing anything good then? In the show jimmy always tries to get the cops to be good and when they do, they just change back in the next couple of episodes.
@@soygato2722 Exactly there is no point of doing anything good cause Gotham is sick
ITell But isn't the point of batman is to stop crime and all that. Like other then never murdering, he takes down crime. It doesn't work all the time but still works.
@@soygato2722 Clearly You don`t understand Gotham. Not even batman can stop the crime in that city
ITell i didn't say crime will stop. Just that Batman is meant to bring hope to the people of gotham even though the sickest sons of bitches seem to roam there. But i guess im not smart enough to understand the complexity of Gotham and its dark knight.
15:30 “...even if [Grandpa] WAS a grabby hotdog-neck, he didn’t deserve to get his daddles disconnected”

The dumbest thing from season 1 was Liza (who beat up a rival to (the brink of) death remember, just letting Falcone throttle her without even attempting to fight back or struggle.
Gotham's Joker (Jerome) was THE best joker though.
Yo I'm only like 3 mins in but I can already tell how much work and effort you put into these kinds of videos. It's a really nice breath of fresh air to see an actual good video. If you keep this up, I have no doubt in my mind you'll blow up!

No reference to the fact that the penguin subplot is beat-for-beat the plot of CLOCKWORK ORANGE?

When did penguin rape anybody?
My only primary complaint is that some characters just POOF stop existing

Superman Returns

Green Lantern
Animated:
Batman the Animated Series
New Batman Adventures
Batman Beyond
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
The Killing Joke
Superman the Animated Series
Young Justice
Teen Titans
Justice League
Justice League Unlimited
Static Shock
Green Lantern Emerald Nights
Batman Assault On Arkham
Batman Gotham Knight
Batman Ninja

The fact that this is only part 1 of your list genuinely makes me happy.
I wish the show did crazy take on the original villains from Adam West's show like Egghead, King Tut, and Louie the Lilac.
I love Gotham. I wish I had friends that enjoyed it haha. Most of my friends stopped watching during season 1 because they don't enjoy Mooney.
Same
I'm actually surprised by the complaint about Thomas and Martha Wayne... I never realised I wanted it to happen a long time after the start until you pointed out the possibility. At the same time I understand the decision of it becoming the start and driving force of Gordon's arc

They needed more Jerome though. And not calling him Joker is so stupid. Ugh.
Brooke Harris Right? Sad that Jeremiah is the one who is in the spotlight, Jerome was miles more interesting and my personal gavorite by far of the two.
Facts we need more cameron monaghan hes the star of the show
@@kallis2557 absolutely!!
Brooke Harris Warner Bros does not let them Use the joker caracther. So they can’t cal HIM that. (Sorry for my bad english i’m dutch😁)
Honestly Gotham is the best DC show in my opinion. It’s so funny, interesting, and entertaining
It is really sad that the show didn't stay as a straight crime procedural with a few nods to the batman mythos.
Agreed
@giftofgab247 Good point
The crime drama was the most boring part of season 1 though
Gotham is...
