I personally like the VLOGS. Long time hearing aid user and the information you share a lot of times helps me understand how to work with my hearing care professional a whole lot better. No matter what you do an excellent job of promoting and improving your profession and I for one appreciate it.

Thank you for vlog. While I find the vlogs informative and entertaining, I think that it depends where you are in your treatment journey. If you are just starting using hearing aids, finding information about features, anatomy/ physiology and vocabulary/definitions are key factors and I find that very important. it’s important to have current research and development discussions on topics that are less structured but still relevant. I think we are trying to compare apples and oranges. Both formats and information are essential. It kinda muddies the waters for me. I do have other issues that color my decisions. I vote for checking the number of views for a six month period and see which are getting the most milage as far as which format you keep or emphasize. I’m sure you also have time and cost restraints. Both have their pros and cons. Base your decision on what is best for you and your audience. How are you best reaching your audience? Personal experiences are important as it colors your decision. I will watch both regardless.

Dr Cliff you put out tons of new content all of the time so much so that I have a hard time keeping track. I have had hearing loss for quite a number of years and because of your channel/vlogs/shorts (not sure of the difference) I feel that I finally understand what I should be looking for in a Dr. Your hearing up network also provides options of Dr s in my area that I know will be proceeding in following best practices. I enjoy many of your product reviews and think you should continue those but keep them focused to the one or two products you’re reviewing. The questions you talked about in your vlog today all had the same answer… it depends… which is true. IMO that sounds like a lot of wasted time creating content and confirms my thought that you’re content should be focused on what best practices are and who is using them and what are the newest products coming out as well as reviewing what is currently available. I would rather spend 20 minutes once every couple of weeks on great content than 5-11 minutes every day on continuous content.
I am calling this week to find the right Dr for me in my area and I’m certainly going to start with your recommended drs in my area

General comment: really don’t care about other people’s hearing issues! Mine are important to me but not the others. Questions are very specific to their loss but not mine! You have answered a question for me in the past and I appreciate that very much! I have been looking for new hearing aids. Your videos provided a wealth of information. I appreciate the reviews and will continue to watch based on content! Thank you! Dave B.

My Phonak experience is more about how many times it's been sent back while under warranty. Almost every 3 months one hearing aide just stops working and my doctor has to send it back. I work as a truck driver so I'm not sure about the build quality in industrial work settings with a need for better weather resistance. Luckily I have the extended warranty for 4 years coverage.

None of the audiologists I've gone to have used these technologies. I'm currently trying to find an audiologist in Minnesota I can drive to that uses these. So far, the only one I've found is Starkey in Eden Prairie, MN., which is just under four hours away - which I'm more than willing to do in order to get it right.

Hey Dr. Cliff, I personally enjoyed watching your Vlog videos tbh. I rmb you started the Vlog videos as a “Behind the scene” where you share about your personal experiences such as your successes, challenges and everything as an Audiologist and your real self. Vlog videos really, is where we get to watch you dress informally and talk “as yourself” without having to do “Professional Talking”. Just my 2 cents worth. ☺️
Similarly, will be excited to know what you will be doing and sharing with us next!

    Great answers to the question.
As a hearing impared it might be difficult to understand what questions to really ask..
I have myself experienced the "hum" (on resound) but that was by far the best explanation I have gotten.
Will probably end up with coclear implants at some point... And here is a question:
The inner part of the coclear solution, how "technollogy based" is that. Meaning will that part improve in the same amount as the digital prosessing is. How many frequency bands it supports etc.?

Dr. Cliff, I am getting a bit worried. It seems that you are spreading yourself very thin. We started with a dedicated audiologist who also offered videos to help others. Now we have TWO video stars that spend too much time and money on so many projects that we have trouble keeping up. I'm sure that the wife would agree. PLEASE do not ever let this go so far that we hear the following intro: "Hi, I'm Dr. Cliff. I'm a single video star who used to be a practicing audiologist. And I used to be married." Don't let this video stuff consume you. I wouldn't say this if I didn't care.

I’m new to your channel and I have learned a lot. So I can’t really comment on where you should take it. I have had a hearing loss my whole life though so I just want to say that there is always something new to learn. That being said, I am in the process of replacing my hearing aid on my bad ear. My loss is pretty profound due to a physical destruction of the three bones in my ear. (I still have a lot of nerve 😉.) I’m trying out a Phonac, but I’m not very impressed. The sound is so deep, that it comes out very muffled. Even that I’m supposed to be able to answer the phone using my hearing aid I can’t understand a word people are saying to me. Therefore, I’m not using it for that purpose at all. As well, loud situations have me beat. I am still in my warranty period and I have an appointment tomorrow, so I’m thinking if she cannot fix it for me, I might go with the Starkey instead. Any opinions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Regarding the question from Mr. Kumar, AmpCROS is a good consideration, since he might still benefit from direct amplification to the poor ear while routing sound to the other ear. While the bad ear really can't contribute a lot for communication, maintaining stimulation to it is important to preserve the function of the auditory nerve and thus keep it "healthy" should a cochlear implant ever be a consideration. The hearing aids doing this could be fit in a traditional sense (direct stimulation to both ears independently) but then another program could be set up for AmpCROS. He could then try either setting and see which one provides him with the best benefit. But I, based on what I see, wouldn't steer him towards a CROS system alone.

I hope you keep the vlogs coming but I understand if you find new ways to serve. Your general advice videos should stay up on RUclips. Your reviews of hearing aid products should probably have a standard advisory added that clearly gives the date of the review and adds a reminder that a) new tech is coming out all the time and b) only a highly qualified hearing professional can assess your hearing loss, determine your hearing goals and help you navigate the ever more complex world of options. You may already have done this but I think a video explaining how to separate highly qualified hearing professionals from those that just aren’t keeping up would be a service. I’m way smarter than the average bear but I’m one of the bewildered people with very frustrating hearing loss who are willing to pay for the best possible tech solution but who perceive audiologists as fast talking salespeople. It doesn’t mean they aren’t selling very good products, but how can I tell? How can we tell? Is the advent of the OTC hearing aid (and shouldn’t that be OTI? Over the internet?) putting pressure on audiologists to make a living? Or is it actually increasing awareness of hearing loss as a national health crisis and motivating more people than ever to seek services from audiology clinics? What are key questions to ask before selecting an audiology clinic?

Phonak are the best sounding hearing aid to my ear BUT how can a hearing aid that monitors the sound environment 7,000 times a second and automatically adjust to your listening environment BUT you CAN’T adjust the Bluetooth streaming volume properly?? Maybe all this high technology jargon is just a sales pitch because my $40 Bluetooth earbuds from Amazon can adjust the streaming volume perfectly but the $7000 top of the line Phonaks CAN’T? At some point it all becomes snake oil because so much of this just can’t be proven or your audiologist tells you “it takes time for your brain to adjust”.. Really.. How would I approach asking my Audiologist to reconsider the Phonaks over the Oticons and how do I really know which is the best hearing aide for my condition? And just so you know, my prior audiologist had a conference with a Phonak Representative with me present trying to resolve multiple streaming issues, the Phonak Rep. said we had made every possible adjustment but was unable to resolve the issue.
