Yeah like, playing it on the switch I definitely notice some issues in terms of graphics and lag during the sliding bits or if you destroy too many tikis at once, but that’s something that the switch has with a lot of games anyway and it’s not really the game’s fault. It’s still playable and enjoyable, and I heard no problems with PS4 and PC players
@Jeff Sian I encountered a visual glitch in the switch where when I killed a hammer robot it appears damage floating in the air and one of those small zap robots floated up a vine in the kelpforest while moving.
@@McSnezzly Well, for PC and PS4, there was one. You didn't have the ability to replay the main bosses anymore. Don't know if that was intentionally or not, but I do hope they return that back in the patch.
I play the game without having played the original, and doesn't feel right. The game is like Mario 64 but a worse level design. The levels tried to be open but they are linear as fuck.
2 would be Aliens: Colonel Marines or Fallout 76. A horrible glitchy mess. A faithful remake that even on it's own is fairly enjoyable is atleast a 7 point range.
@Mystic Digi Absolutely not. The game feel for the remake is far worse than the original. You can no longer fall stall by attacking mid-air, and there are a lot of subtle differences with things like the bubble bash that bring down the gameplay feel experience. I replay at least part of the original every year, heck, I made it to rock bottom on a fresh playthrough with no memory card just 2 months ago. This remake just does not have that same polish in that regard. The animations are vastly superior, but that's about it. Even the art style, while modernized and fairly clean, feels a lot more plain now. Besides, the technology has changed. If they released the original version again, it wouldn't score as well because the textures wouldn't live up to modern standards, the lighting wouldn't, the AI probably wouldn't. Technology has come a long way in the past decade and a half, so remakes should be graded on how they adapt to the new technologies to some degree. That said, this game did technically do that, I just personally think it looks worse in the modernized design, and the gameplay is definitely not the same as the original, for the worse
Seriously,I rarely say it but they gave sonic 06 more than that,I am one of who defend 06 for having the best character arc, villian and music, but the game is still bad.
Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a masterpiece that evolves the gameplay, cinematic storytelling, and rich world design of the original in nearly every way.

Doodles I’d have to disagree with you there. In order for it to be a game of the generation contender it would need to have been better than LOU1 and if argue it wasn’t. So far off the top of my head the Game of the Generation Titles would be God of War or Red Dead for sure.
It's not a 9/10. Banjo-Kazooie was a 9/10. Super Mario 64 was a 9/10. Now don't get me wrong. BfBB is a solid game, but it's certainly not "one of the best platformers" ever. >_>
Outfit: Very sharp The Game: I have a few issues with the game from a technical standpoint. From the Switch version, my digital copy takes 15+ seconds to load if you fall out of bounds in some areas just to move you back a few feet. The animations and lip-sync feel a little off and some of the characters look kind of lifeless, I'm looking at you, Patrick. I also found myself seeing certain jumps I thought I could make being blocked off by an invisible wall. I tried jumping to a bouncing tree in Jellyfish Fields because it looked like the right way to go, it turned out it would have been a sequence break, but the game just cuts you off mid jump with an invisible wall. It just looked unnatural. Also, the render distance for the seaweed grass in every area is very low to the point where it feels jarring constantly seeing the seaweed spawn in with what looks like a powerpoint animation every step. I loved the game as a kid and I do plan on trying to play it more and seeing if I can adjust to these issues, but I don't think I can recommend the Switch version if this is the experience I had. If anyone has played it on other consoles and did not run into some of the rendering and load time issues, let me know! Other than that, I did appreciate the good sides of the game from your point of view. Good work.
@@maplegirl5915 The IGN review does not compare the game to any $60 game. They said " if you’re going to remake something beloved, it’s not worth taking any half-measures." Matty brought up Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I think IGN is saying they would rather have a $60 remake than a $30 remaster
IGN: death is unforgiving and fights are unfair! Almost nearly every enemy dies in one hit, maybe two for one of them, and that's ONLY because he has a bubble shield while you, the player, have up to six by the end when you encounter bubble blowing baby shield man. That being said, I do wish that they would've done more in the way of putting cut content back into the game or doing more mulitplayer modes to fix that since they felt with no new dialogue to work with or even changing the story, they could do something there. I dunno. That's my main complaint aside from the cruise bubble not keeping settings I want for it, even when the menu says it's still kept the changes.

Quite frankly, I think it's incredibly strange that Hillenburg would even bring up the sexuality of a cartoon sponge person who lives in a pineapple under the sea, nextdoor to a squid who lives in an Easter Island Head and a starfish who lives under a rock. Point being, why does Spongebob's sexuality need to be acknowledged by anyone at all, be that creator, fan, or publisher?
I really hope they remake revenge of the flying Dutchman. Perhaps not the best, but I loved it as a kid and maybe they could work more on it since it wasn't as good as BfBB. Also the Avatar and Tak games!
Because if they are willing to give a AAA game with admitting good graphics and visuals but a lackluster story a 9 or a 10. And if they have no problem giving a fan-favorite game a 4 or a 2. This just shows how dissconnected those review sites are with gamers in general. The way they praise crap games that most of the community hates (TLOU), and give some genuinely good games some terrible scores. We shouldn't give them any of our credibility, they clearly don't deserve it.
So just because "the community hates" TLOU they should give it a low score? Stop saying a game is objectively bad just because you guys don't like the narrative decisions. TLOU 2 is easily one of the best, most polished games ever made.
voidwalker 19. Hell no. The Gameplay, Graphics, etc might be good but the story is the most horrendous thing ever. Not because ol “YoU diDn’T liKe WhErE iT weNt” it’s because it had plot holes, character development from the first game thrown out the window, characters not acting how they should, bland characters, etc. Joel’s Death was forced and used for shock value. Players said that The Last of Us 1 didn’t need a sequel because it ended near perfectly. And they were right. The previous genius lead writer left Naughty Dog because of this trash and so did over half of the staff. It’s not a coincidence that they left around the time of the second game. She was a female and hated this simp filled piece of shit story. She actually wanted to make great characters and stories. Then there is Abby probably not even arguably the worst character Gaming has seen in a long time. Basic background plot that makes no sense, somehow knows who Joel is even his last name, somehow knows that Joel killed her dad, you play as the bimbo for like 10 hours of the game (which a lot of people said was boring), etc. Worst of all you finally get the chance to kill Abby and you fucking spare her bitch ass for no damn reason. Such a shithole story. Anyone who likes this overpriced piece of dogshit and even has the audacity to call it a masterpiece have zero clue what good writing is and had absolutely no idea what made the first game a near masterpiece. The gameplay was barely changed, character development is shit, character development is as if the first game doesn’t exist, a revenge plot where you don’t take revenge, Abby being immortal, Massive Plot Armor (especially for Abby), Joel trusted a bunch of strangers with his name (Joel never trusts anyone it takes awhile to develop true trust for him), Plot around Joel’s death is forced, and all in all it’s a garbage story with passable gameplay.
This is a kids game from like 20 years ago. How is not liking it being disconnected with gamers? Kids today aren't playing 3d platformers, they aren't relevant
@@FavoriteCentaurMoe u have a point, but i am just making an example, "game journalists" do this kind of stuff all the time, non objective and biased reviews have become the norm, so placing our trust on them is a waste, at least for me.
My only complaint about the game was how the transitions to the robo Sandy and robo Patrick boss fights were just so random. Like you pressed on a gate and were teleported into a cut scene in a completely new area that could’ve had a cutscene transition into the area. Still adored the game and I would give it a 9.5/10
Glad to see someone defending this amazing game. Sad to see "critics" bashing it and seemingly holding it up to AAA game standards. Take it for what it is and it will take you on a nostalgic, and childish ride for your money. Definitely a game worth checking out, not only for your kids, but for those of us who grew up with this franchise (Spongebob).
EmpireZz There is a difference between a remaster and a remake ya know a remaster is an old game they put on current consoles which is basically HD and a remake is when the rebuild the game from the ground up
@@EmpireZzzz It is technically a remake as some changes, especially to improve the movement, have been made. A remastering implies the game was just upscaled and made compatible on new systems, a remake implies multiple things were changed from the original.
I don't mind to pay a little for some extra DLC story expansion for Multiplayer. Remember the ending when Spongebob and Sandy said there are still more works to be done? They could make the Multiplayer part of the story directly after the ending. That will also put Robo Squidward to use with showing Squidward's face "Le Gasp" for his own robot version! Ooh, and, yeah. Maybe some cosmetic DLCs to put those Shiny Object to good use. Costumes, Icon Skins, extra Playable Characters for Multiplayer, extra stages, and more. The Movie, Creature from Krusty Krab, and Atlantis SquarePantis did that, so why can't BFBB.
I am happy that you give an honest look at the game. I think that most people forget that this is a remaster and not a reboot. They kept everything exactly as it was because that is what so many people like about it. It has its shortcomings, it even had them back in the day, but that also gives it its charm. I don't think anyone, even the development studio, expected this game to get high scores of claims as "masterpieces". It's a remaster of a beloved classic for fans of the game and SpongeBob not a AAA new SpongeBob game.
These "professional" reviewers aren't into games, my friend, they're into interactive movies and will only pay them some importance if covered in modern horrid identity politics and shitty week minded ideologies... That said, I remember givin' a SpongeBob game a shot at the time; but ain't so sure if it was the original version of the remake... I for one am excited to give this I try, cuz it not only looks like a game that plays like an actual game, it is one that doesn't force stupidity down our throats and golfing means nothing to me...
If they market the game as a genuine remake I better get what they advertise without much if any real changes to the gameplay, the devs did good in my book. They even added a bunch of cut content from the original game.

2 was ridiculous. I mean, a 2 is like barely functional, like Yoda Stories.
2 would be Aliens: Colonel Marines or Fallout 76. A horrible glitchy mess. A faithful remake that even on it's own is fairly enjoyable is atleast a 7 point range.
@@Dalton_Boardman2000 76 is at minimum a 5 or 6. It's functional, has a story, with most of the glitches being very minor
He probably played it pre-patch. The completionist showed footage of some of his glitches and they were mad wonky

Outfit: Very sharp
The Game: I have a few issues with the game from a technical standpoint.
Good work.

My girlfriend and I loved it. She never wants to play games but she loved playing this with me. I really enjoyed this title
IGN and Gamespot are the bruh moments of video game reviewers
You know another game that got a 2 from GameSpot? Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. They're saying that those two games are on the same level. Huh.
If a freaking lazy remastered games could get 7-9 scores from IGN & GAMESPOT, you be damng well this game journos are flipping ridiculous nonsense.
i honestly can't believe that this game (that was an old licensed game) was remastered in the first place.
the whole time i thought this game was a remaster
It is
No it's rehydrated
No it's Patrick
Lmfao One of the best platformers ever made tbh, even Hideo Kojima thinks it was and still is a fantastic game.
Matty you gotta show these reviewers how to do their jobs correctly. I definitely appreciate the way you review your games
Halo 2 Anniversary is still the greatest game remake ever
I wholeheartedly agree with that statement😊
Infinity Hand agree 100%
Actually crash is
I'd say Spyro and Crash could be up there with it if you could actually switch graphics modes to show the old graphics to the new graphics on the fly
Actually that's called a remaster, not remake. A remake would be what Capcom did with RE2.
I think they did try to get Clancy brown for the remake, but there was some legal issues since it was a finish product before
Ign “last of us 2 is a masterpiece”
IGN” sponge bob bad lol”
They can never be trusted
