2:34 For context, the reason why Spongebob looks so gritty and somewhat hyper detailed here, is that this is a DIRECT reference to Rat Fink! 🐀 Rat Fink is a beloved mascot within the world of hot rod/car custom culture, with it being made by the artist Ed Roth. If you're not sure if you have ever seen this mascot on anything (trust me, he's on like a trillion t-shirts and decals, and even got some official vinyl figure merch through different toy manufacturers), it is simply a very grotesque looking rat, with rancid green skin, MASSIVE bulging eyes, NUMEROUS building veins across his flesh and eyeballs, him wearing a pair of overalls that says R.F. on it, and he is usually portrayed to be riding a hot rod.
Although I am not part of the subculture this mascot is attached to, I AM in the indie designer toy/sofubi artist community, and I can see clearly a ton of pieces and custom one-off figurines that were in the vein of mimicking Rat Fink OR are a direct tribute to Ed Roth's extremely detailed 'gross-out' art style.😆 His art style is NOT for everyone, but I really enjoy how overly kinetic and frantic his work feels like!

I loved playing this game as a kid. I just love how crazy and dark the thing is. It takes the SpongeBob ip in some super weird directions and I LOVE IT. It would be great if we got this game Rehydrated or at least just an upscaled pc port. They’d probably be able to reuse a fair amount of the assets from Cosmic Shake and BFBBR as long as they fit. That way development would be more streamlined. More people should enjoy this wonderful fever dream.

CFTKK overall is a lot more chaotic compared to AWE Games’ unique take on the story. Nighty Nightmare is supposedly their version of CFTKK, but it might as well be labeled an entirely different game.
It doesn’t have the most interesting gameplay, but it DOES have three things that this game doesn’t: Giant Plankton fighting Krabzilla, Dreaded Patrick actually being defeated once and for all, and SpongeBob stopping an alien invasion while revealing he’s a Dirty Harry fan.

The fact that it was so ambitious according to the co founder explains why the GameCube version has various texture and graphical glitches, audio bugs where the audio is either DELAYED or missing in cutscenes…probably should’ve just stuck to developing for PS2 and Wii, the PS2 would still be a good alternate for those who don’t want motion controls.

This. This was my FIRST console game that I ever played, and I remember it so vividly! I had it on the (at the time) brand new PS2 Slim, and I remember walking out into the living room when I must have been like 6 or 7, and being so excited to play! But then my parents and I noticed something upon booting up the game…we had to continue without saving, which we didn’t understand why. So my parents, after looking up how to save data, told me that we needed a Memory Card! So the next day, Dad went out and got two memory cards, one Blue, the other was Red. That game never ended up with me, and long story short I still have that PS2 and blue memory card to this day. I still play games frequently and it’s all thanks to my wonderful parents, who I miss dearly. Unfortunately, cancer ended up claiming them too soon. I’m 20 now, and I’ll never forget the day they introduced me to my lifelong hobby and passion. I miss them both dearly, and this game is a sincere reminder of them and my journey through life. Anyway, thanks for reading if you made it this far!

I love this game so much! I had this on the Gamecube and I constantly played it over and over again until it was lost. It's such a strange game full of interesting landscapes and designs overall, especially with the thematic loading screens and whole connected dreaming aspect. I would honestly die for a remaster of it since it's probably my second favorite Spongebob game of all time. I also don't think you gave the DS version much credit, it's pretty good despite being very different from the original. It's also far more difficult, especially when you get to the Patrick levels.
Also, to answer your question about the titular "creature" from the Krusty Krab, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the krabby patty itself since it has its own strange personality and acts as a sort of final boss. It's also the only reason their weird dreams happened in the first place.

I remember getting this game on the Wii as a launch title. Also had it on DS, even though I really didn't like that one. Awesome video, good to see someone talk about a game which few appear to remember.

I remember thinking the first level of the game where you race was the entire game when I was young, until one day I played past it and my mind was blown when I realized how much more there was, and I remember being so upset that I couldn’t find all the collectibles to play as plankton for the final level it haunts me to this day :(

This was one of those games when I was a kid that I had no idea or sense of direction as to what to do. Never finished the first level I think, I remember playing as Patrick and getting lost and never playing it again

the game is better on Wii cause when you play the giant plankton level, you get to swing the controllers to punch, shake nunchuk to stomp, and press the A button to fire your lazer eye, you get to immerse yourself and be the kaiju and smash a city
