  • Spirulina is a blue-green algae in which the green pigment is chlorophyll and the blue pigment is phycocyanin. This used to be extracted from spirulina and sold be one company under the name Blue Magik. (This was from a company that primarily sold AFA Blue Green Algae, which also contains phycocyanin but their phycocyanin product came from spirulina.) Then it got really popular and was sold all over the place as blue spirulina.
In some ways, I think it's great, but I do have a few bones to pick here... what do you think about these things?

Every powdered product I've tried in the past, the taste is just awful. Does blue spirulina extract taste differently than the typical green powders?

What is a good blue spirulina to buy?

  • @bobcatt2294

The problem with any of the algaes, is that algaes latches onto contaminates. Where is it harvested, what and how long was the highest tempreture of the water during growth, how is it tested for contaminates and integrety, how is it handled through the process? This process is usually labor intensive.

Where do you recommend we buy it

  • @hesitatenothing

In my country, it's literally more expensive to buy a blue spirulina than green&blue one.
