what's up, awesome peeps! i'm doing a GIVEAWAY for a Miles Power dual drive electric skateboard right now. i'll be announcing the winner in the next video. follow the link for entry and good luck! ruclips.net/video/re9UnoejtMM/видео.html
Just unboxed a Cityrover S5 and cruised around the neighborhood. This thing rocks!
I bought it for our son to commute back and forth to the bus stop 1/2 mile away and is all uphill coming home! You could easily coast downhill to the bus stop but going uphill requires some effort. A lot of the reviews I read showed single electric motor scooters struggling on hills. So I opted for the dual motor scooter. Now you can switch the S5 from a dual motor to a single motor...basically switching the rear motor on or off. I'm a bit heavier than the person doing this review and my first try was with the scooter on single wheel mode. It worked well on flat surfaces but really struggled going uphill. It would work but was really slow. So I switched to the dual motor mode and it was a night and day difference! It had zero problems propelling me up a hill for a good city block and a half! This was factory settings, with the speed limiter in place! The brakes work great as well. It takes some movement of the brake lever before it really started braking...but once it brakes, you know it!
Over all first impressions are wow and can't wait to see how it holds up.
awesome! thanks so much for sharing your experience with this, My Road Tours. glad to hear it's working out and would love to hear an update once you and your son have some more miles on this thing!
Thank you for the detailed review. A couple of missed points is the M icon indicates both motors are running with the icon off it is only using one motor. Also about the speed if you unscrew the throttle handle there will be a blue wire tucked inside there, pull it out and unplug it, it will go faster.
Nice, Catus! Thanks for the tips. Hopefully those that are looking to increase the speed will find this helpful!
@@electrifiedreviews this is a real thing that makes this scooter more attractable today! 35kmh is a easy speed to reach at nearly 200lbs. i own one and wish i could sell these myself. if you check out my lame intro to the S5 ruclips.net/video/vLzmfodhhTo/видео.html
Also i just purchased the the Wide Wheel scooter dual motor 1000W total.. 500*2. so that will be fun to review once i get my team together!
I've had this scooter now since november 2017. I've run almost 200km ( 125mi) on it. With and without speed limiter. The speed of this thing with both me 55kg or with my friend 110kg is about 18,5 km/h (12mi/h) with the speed limiter on and 35km/h (22mi/h) without the limiter. The "M" mode the host is describing is an indication if you are using just 1 or 2 motors. M on = 2 motors. You can turn the 2.nd motor on and off on the fly. I range tested mine 2 days ago on a route with both flat and hills on it. 210m height difference . The rider wight was about 50kg, both motors engaged and speed limiter removed. (Average speed was 20km/h) The scooter lasted 32,85km ( 20,6mi) and that is after i've ridden this for 197km so far. (125mi). Works like a charm. I've also driven on forest paths, and the scooter is way more rough than i am. ;) .
However, I do have 1 problem now, after i tested the usb charge port the first time, it failed on the USB(Iphone 6). After that the scooter is not shutting down all the way. The display is off, and the speed selection is off, but the throttle is still on. And i haven't found a way to reset the speed controller yet. I've unplugged the battery, and reconnected it again. The USB works fine again, but the problem with my speed controller is still there. Also the speed controller gets hot when the scooter is "off" now. So it burns about 15-20% of the energy in 24 hours or so. I'm gonna trouble shoot mine a bit more, and install a physical power switch for the battery if the problem persists. Final words tho.. i love it! Had the S2 (Single engine 250W) last year, it's fun but too weak. This one is strong as a bear, and nimble as cat. I'm 45 yrs old, going 8 ;) :D LOVE IT!
Ciliaris1 seems like the quality control is really lacking on this scooter. I want one because it can climb hills the best out of all the ones I've seen but I may have to just get the Zoom Stryder Ex to lower my hassle of having to get replacement parts and repairs.
Wow! You've put some serious miles on this thing! That's awesome. Please let us know if you're able to resolve your USB /charging issue! Hopefully all goes well for you. :)
The QQ on this is actually pretty good. The finished product feels pretty solid, but I can't compare it to the Zoom Stryder Ex as I haven't tested that one yet. Let us know if you end up getting one!
Brent McCluskey - Electrified Reviews can this scooter be used like a regular kick scooter when the battery runs out?
Yup! Just kick push like a regular scooter if you don't want to use the motor.
We're shopping around for scooters for our son and this coming school year. This one so by far has really peaked my interest. The dual motor and power especially. Our home is on a slight hill and have been looking for something idea for handling his trip home. Twin 250w motors should do the trick. Thanks!
of course! glad to hear you bought this one and it worked out for you!
Very well edited. I am impressed gg man.
Right on, Papp Sebastian Georgian. Thanks. :)
Great review. I have ordered one. Very excited!
Nice! Would love to hear your experience with it once you get it.
Brent McCluskey - Electrified Reviews Had it a few days now, very much fun. I now automatically lean back before I brake. The only drawback is the beeping seems to happen if battery is being driven hard up a steep hill. I have seen a vid showing how to disconnect the speaker; perhaps in the future when it’s out of warrantee I’ll disconnect it. I leave it on setting 3, dual motor, derestricted. My friends have give from thinking I’m bizarre, to wanting one themselves! Thanks.
Right on haha. I haven't had an issue with the beeping noise but maybe you have steeper hills where you live? Lemme know how it goes with the disconnect whenever you do that!
Graham McDonald how's the build quality? Did you have any parts fail on the scooter yet? What's your weight and how does it perform on steep hills. Looking to buy either this or the Zoom Stryder Ex Edition for Commuting in San Francisco.
Would be nice to have the essential specs *up front* in the opening so we can decide whether the rest of video is worth watching. When dealing with e-scooters, weight and wheel size are part of "crucial" (I won't buy any e-scooter with wheel size under 8"). Anyway, 26 pounds it is. Too heavy for me. Nice video anyway, keep it up!
good feedback, Yves! and thanks for the kind words!
Question:
1) How would you compare this with the Xiaomi M365 Electric scooter in terms of overall performance and price?
2) Would you recommend this for everyday 20miles commuting?
3) Any recommendations?
Thanks.
Hi Kamran, Good question. I also saw your message to me on our web.www.city-rover.com.
Here , i also very happy to anwer all of your quesiton here:
1,For the performance Comparsion: S5 11.5kg in weight,107*44*13cm(folding size) portable, max load 120kg,dual motor with amazing gradability, max 40km range. For price, Cityrover S5 is 669USD (Promotion price); Xiaomi M365:12.5kg in weight,49*108*43cm(Folding size, max load 100kg, single motor, max range 30km,Price:500 to 800USD on amazon and eaby, think some including shipping cost, some not. Generally speaking, after S5 and Mijia365's price is almost same, while Mijia Pirce is a bit messy.
2, For 20miles communting (two-around), no problem.I think it's a good choice. It's ok, even if there are some small uphill.
3, For the recommendation, Aha, i recommend S5 to you again.
Hi Kamran! I haven’t tested the M365 scooter yet so I couldn’t say, but I’ll check that one out and see if we can’t get a review going on it. As far as recommending it for a 20 mile commute, it would depend on if that’s total distance or one way. I’d be worried about the battery if it were a 20-mile commute each way, but if it was just 10 then I would think this would work fine for you. Other than that, if you’re looking for another comparable scooter I really like the Glion Dolly.
Hi Brent - nice review. I especially like that you spent time talking about the suspension. How do you compare the suspension of the S5 to the Glion Dolly? Some reviews seem to indicate that is a little bit of a hard ride. FYI, I've pulled the trigger and ordered an S5, should arrive in about a week!
Joe, for the suspension for on common road, it's ok. For the paved, you can feel micro shock, while still bearable. I ride it to office every day. For the Gilon Dolly, seems it's supesnon is from big wheel.Usually, big wheel is with better suspension effect the nithter of them with Supension system. Every product got it's features and advantage, and no product is perfect. Aha,right ?Joe
JoeTerp how is the scooter so far? Any parts fail you yet?
About time the micros get a overhaul x
😎✌🏼
Loved the video, your channel is supper underrated! Would also love to see a comparison with the Xiaomi m365!
Thanks, Chad! Much appreciated. I've been eyeing the Xiamoi m365 for a while. Still trying to line up a review!
Totally agree with you Chad.Aha
One of the most important things of a review on any adult electric rideables is the real word range test.
When a person buys a electric rideable for the advertised range, they do not want to be stuck miles away from home with a paperweight that did not get anywhere the advertised range. Some scooters range has 80% discrepancy of the advertised range.
Then found out that they can't return the electric rideable because of a none consumer friendly policy or have to pay $100-$500+ for shipping and/or a restocking fee.
range tests are tough, NextNate. the best way to get an idea of range is calculate the watt hours on the battery and compare that to the motor output. otherwise it's going to be pretty subjective and dependent on the rider weight, ride style (how fast are they going), terrain (what kind of hills are they tackling, are they starting and stopping a lot or cruising) and even weather and road conditions. still, i found the real world range on this one to be pretty close to the advertised range. for reference, i'm a 190 lb rider and normally carry about 20 to 30 pounds of gear with me wherever i go.
Thank you. Sorry if I come across sounding like a troll (I posted the comment about 1-2 weeks after I watched this video. At the time, I did not remembered that you has said anything about the range you had gotten) . I needed to vent at the time.
I have seen countless of writing and video reviews of electric scooters and bikes over the years that they do not do any kind of a range test, they just say whatever the advertised range to be for that product.
It does not help very much when the manufacturer lie about the range.
Swagetron is the worst I have heard. Not even kids are able to the advertise range of 15 miles on the Swagger and Swagger Pro scooters. What I have seen so far is that the kids on RUclips only been able to go about 7-8 miles on a single charge. 3 miles if you are an adult that weighs about 240#.
I like your videos. You have came a long way since your Swagger Scooter video. Keep up the good work.
You look like the same person in this video. ruclips.net/video/MmD3nNURuYo/видео.html
hi. how does this compare to the Glion Dolly? which one would you say is worth the money more of the two? and would you be able to do a comparison video of them? thanks.
hmm. both good scooters honestly. the Glion might be better for extended commutes but i believe this one is a little less money. i'll try to get a comparison video going!
Hello, great video. Does this scooter has cruise control?
hi Deneen! thanks! i don't believe this one has cruise control
Where do you get tyres for these ??
Hey Brent, are you still using the City Rover S5? If so, how is it holding up?
Hi Daney! not any longer, but i put about 100 miles on it or so and didn't have any issues. this is a pretty good scooter imo.
Brent McCluskey - Electrified Reviews Cheers Brent. Can the accelerator and electronic brake be engaged gradually or do they engage more like an on/off function?
I may have missed this... Are the brakes electronic only? How well do they work? Any drawbacks compared to electronic + mechanical?
Hi Fin! The brakes are electronic and they work surprisingly well. There is also a traditional physical brake that can be used by placing pressure on the rear wheel.
Any electric scooter with tires smaller than 8" are going to be painful for long distances. Even with shocks your eyeballs will begin to shake out of their sockets. A nice scoot for puttering around the neighborhood but if you need to commute with it look for electric scooters with larger pneumatic tires. The best electric scooters come from South Korea so start your research for electric scooters with home companies headquartered in South Korea.
That's some good feedback, David. And it's pretty much been my experience as well. The only electric scooter I've ridden for 20+ miles without feeling like my bones are going to disintegrate is the Hollyburn P5, which as you mentioned, has larger pneumatic tires to help absorb a lot of the vibration.
Thanks. The hollyburn is extreme high end so I suggest if you want something the majority can actually afford and use, go for scooters with at least an 8" wheel. Look for something like the minimotors speedway 4 or for deluxe commuting look for the newly released Inokim OX. These are real viable vehicles that can replace your car for fun and for work purposes. All have full suspension that can be ridden long with reasonable comfort and can actually still be bought in places of work to avoid hefty parking fees.
👍🏼
Hi Brent. If you say it's a bit pricey at $650 (?), what do you compare with? What are reference products in your opinion?
hi Robert! that's a good question. "pricey" is pretty subjective and really what i mean by that is simply that some folks may not be able to afford this compared to some of the more entry level electric scooters that can be picked up for less than $300.
The He-Man reference is just priceless
Haha yes! Finally someone said something about it. Love it. Thanks, Jeremiah.
Brent McCluskey - Electrified Reviews no prob
Dude the scooter has a speed limiter wire inside it's right handle bar. Just seperate that and you can go 20mph.
I use mines for work everyday. Saved a lot on gas.
Hi there. Just wondering how far can you really go on a full charge? I weigh 175.00 How is it in the rain?
FUNKINGONUTS for me it can go up to 15 miles, because I have many hills and uneven road. I weigh like 140ibs. I've ridden it in heavy rain and small puddles, it's working well. The manufacture said not to ride in heavy rain but I think I got lucky lol.
BJ Chaos awesome. Thank you
how long the battery last if keep maintain the speed around 10-15mph on fully charged?
Thanks for the tip, BJ!
Please Review the Voyager Photon Electric Scooter!
hi, MEezi! i will definitely work on this. thanks!
Can you charge the scooter while it’s folded?
Yup! It can be charged while folded or unfolded.
Build quality on the steering column is not great. A few users including myself have had problems with it. Comes loose at the join just above the wheel. You end up turning the handlebars and the front wheel stays straight. I have been in touch with City rover and have nothing but broken promises regarding replacement parts for the last two months. Can't recommend it on that basis. Otherwise a great scooter for hills and speed.
I got the Ninebot ES4 (ES2 with the extra battery) for $650. It's cheaper then this scooter in the video and gives you 28 miles on a charge and up to 19mph on Sport Mode. I have used it and it climbs steep hills with great ease. It has so much torque that after you kick off and press the throttle, it just takes off. Quality seems pretty solid. Deff should shop around and check reviews and videos everywhere. Deff check reviews on any site that has it.
oh man. bummer. hope you didn't get hurt. i didn't have this issue but then again i didn't put a bunch of miles on it. was this something you experience right off the bat or was it later on?
@@danielpindell1267 that looks like a dope scooter too
I would love to get something like this...but how would you lock this up on a bike rack??
hmm. good question. i would probably lock it through the red piece on the top of the deck to keep it somewhat secure... or just fold it up and bring it with me
Have you done a video without the speed limit? Thanks
No but some folks in the comments have talked about how to disable it though.
but like that borh tires are soild tires! which will skip in the wet floor!
they're kind of semi-solid. like not pressurized but they have air inside and a honeycomb structure for shock absorption/to help keep form.
Can this be used as a normal kick scooter once u run out of power?
If it can is it hard like it locks up or smooth like a normal non electrical kick scooter, this info is my turning point whether to buy this scooter or not.
Yes it can be pumped like a regular scooter. There's a bit of resistance from the motor, but it's negligible. Hope that helps!
It does thank you. Now I heard this thing has an alarm when the battery is low. They say it's annoying. Does it stop or just go on and on and on?
Are they going to come up with a way to replace the battery or put a small battery in a backpack I would do thatFor doing further distance and you don’t have time to
Good question! I'm not sure what the company has in mind for the future models, but that sounds like a good idea.
Hi, Cityrover will consider about that.. We will refer to your suggestion in our product development. Thank you very much
Are the tires solid, puncture-free or air-inflated?
Hi Don, It' Solid tires. Usually the for this kind small wheel, most are used solid tires. For pneumatic tires, i think the size should ba above 8 inches, whithat big wheel, then our scooter would not be portable any more.Cityrover wanna make a scooter light in weight, at the same time with strong horsepower, that's why we used 2 5.5" motors.
Thanks for the response. I currently own a Xiaomi M365 and is considering another one and choosing between the Ninebot ES2 or the Zoom Stryder. I find that solid tires with dual shock absorbers could be better than the hassle of tire punctures and maybe being able to jump through gutters versus stopping and lifting the scooter up or down is more convenient. I'd appreciate your input.
Don,every scooter got's it's own advantage, and disadvanges, if you meet hills reguarly on the road,or don't wanna get off the scooter when you ride from underground garage , and also need around 35km range, Cityrover is your best choice. It's up to your riding and road situation
Don Don Dy S what did you end up getting? I'm torn between this and the Zoom Stryder Ex Edition.
General Ivan not yet. I'm holding on to my money for a few more weeks
My S5 dual motor scooter should be here by monday. I didnt by the City Rover brand S5. I got mine for 430$ not 790.
nice! sounds like you found a good deal. let us know how you like it once you get it out on the roads!
Where did you get it from ?
More details about Cityrover S5, why and how the Cityrover was made (Design, choose parts, part maching)

I'm 6'7" looking for a commuting scooter. Would love to speedway mini 4 pro but I can't find it anywhere
What's up, blacksun! I haven't heard of that one but I'll check it out and see if we can get a review going!
That one is out of stock won't wait for it.
Solid or pneumatic tires? Made in ....?
They are a like a honeycomb semi solid type of tire. There is air inside, but they can't be pumped up. Good news about that is no flats though. I believe they are made overseas.
Can anyone recommend me solar generator to charge dual scooter with 3600w, 60volts lithium battery?.
i'd be interested in knowing this too
Wow, Brent, you have a good shape.Aha. Good work.
Please include metric units for those of us that don't live in the United States of the World
Ludwig von Schinken nice to have a rough estimate to be able to convert it on your own
have you ever noticed that ER also means Emergency Room for hospitals? xD
Haha yes! And there's been a couple of instances where I've needed do visit the er after shooting a video for ER. :)
Brent McCluskey - Electrified Reviews 😂 cool

My Segway Ninebot ES1 kick scooter with the additional external battery www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C71WCJV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 has a 28 mile range and 16mph top speed. Of course, you won't get 28 mile range results at all top speed.
I weigh 200 pounds. I usually set the cruise control at 8 mph, and faster on smoother surfaces. 600 miles so far ...
nice! sounds like you're diggin it :)
Dude you figure with dual motors it would go a little bit faster
ya this one def isn't built for speed that's for sure. but it did climb hills better than i expected so that's dope
Width of about 17 inches?? No way!
Only at the widest point, which is the width of the handlebars. :)
Zoom cruiser
Is this an electric scooter you've tried? If so, what are your thoughts?
No longer available
oh really? is it just gone or do they have an updated version or anything?
if 200 lbs is the average weight for a e-scooter rider i am a sumo wrestler on one them
😎✌🏼
Be careful ordering from these Cityrover people - I ordered mine to the UK 22 days ago and it’s still not showing as shipped - all city rover are telling me is it’s stuck in China customs . They said I would have it within 14 days - I have requested a refund as I don’t think it will come! Let’s hope they refund or that’s 450£ gone...
Bummer, Savage. Hope you get it soon. I've had similar issues with customs with a handful of different companies. Not really the companies' fault, but more of customs taking their sweet time. Still frustrating though.
There is an option to boost the speed: ruclips.net/video/QS6jNXnkiAY/видео.html
Nice! Thanks.
m for max
thanks! ya i totally spaced on that while doing this review haha
till today there have been just 2 serious reviews of that scooter, this is the 3rd single one in YT... in the 1st, the rider is afraid to test top speed (clavinetjunkie), and in the 2nd, the rider drives up a very steep and long hill easily but isn´t testing speed (v. kurt), both have deactivated the speed-limiter, and in this 3rd video, the speed limiter isn´t even mentioned, no maximum-speed-test whatsoever... So many months after the first 2 videos, very, very disappointing!!!!!!!!! please, please, make a real max-speed test, i would be gratefull...
Brent: i would be so good, if you can make a follow up video about the speed. Yupe, you can cancel the speed limit in the in the accelerator throtte. Eeasy to do. Dismantle, handle bar on accelerator throtte side, take the speed limit cable, disconnect it. You can refer my intruction video:ruclips.net/video/ltnbEjhp_ok/видео.html
Hey Klaus! Thanks for the feedback, dude and sorry to hear you were looking for more info on the max speed. To the best of my knowledge, after talking with the owner, the max speed is 16mph and is not adjustable. However, I’ve heard of people hacking into controllers or just swapping them out to get more speed/power. If you end up going that route to get more speed, I’d be interested to hear your results!
ok Brent, thanx Deb B, but this was a very small review, and i do not trust jordan being keen to reach topspeed... Hier, one reaches 34km/h (21,5mph), but he is afraid to reach the top-speed... : ( ruclips.net/video/QS6jNXnkiAY/видео.html
And the second one i refered to: ruclips.net/video/mFUM9tKKRzY/видео.html
Con: handle bar not foldable. Con: not compact enough to be put into backpack.
can unscrew handlebar in 1 minute...
It's light enough and small enough to take on public transport. No one really gives me any stares lol
I have yet to find an adult scooter, kick or electric, that is compact enough to fit in standard checked luggage, much less a backpack.
Do not purchase this scooter. Quality control is poor and repairs are outrageous….
hi Chris! sounds like something went wrong with yours. what happened?
