That’s not true you can ride the just fine in the bike lines . Even Vespas are allowed in the bike lanes but some say they will ban these . But electric scooters like that one is just fine

I got myself an electric folding bike and it's absolutely amazing. The range of the scooter would not be enough for me and I know for a fact that it wouldn't be legal here in Germany. The bike has a stated range of 70km and if the battery indicator is anywhere near accurate, I can believe that. (Haven't ridden it that far yet) It can also go 25 km/h (often slightly more, actually) and, while it does take slightly longer to fold up, you can still fold it in like 10 seconds. It was a lot more expensive, though, I'll give you that.
Had one for about half a year. Things to be cautious about, the tires are almost a pain to change if you have a flat. However you can get conversion tires that are solid (aliexpress), though you do lose a little traction and wouldn't recommend on slippery roads. But it is good alternative since you don't have to worry about punctures or tire pressure. Whatever you do, do not ever drop this scooter, first thing to go is the bell handle (part where it clips down when folded), and the next is the kickstand. These two parts break of very easily and there is no glue strong enough to bond it back together. Feel free to post and I'll answer to the best of my ability. BTW it weighs around closer to 14-15kg. Alright to carry if you're taking taking it out on flat road but you'll regret taking it up and down several flights of stairs daily.
I am in same area as you. The streets looked familiar :) I have the m365 full version. It is a great scooter. The only issue is when you run a flat. There are some great YT vids demonstrating step by step how to get the wheel off. (lot of screws) but removing/putting back the tire itself can be a serious pain in the ass. The thing that also proved to be useful is to get one of those bike mounts for your smartphone. That way you can use Waze or whichever nav app you like when you visit a city/area you are not familiar with.
I used to take the same route (Wetteren station to Melle) back in the 90's while in school at similar 20km/h with my not so electric Solex. And then the same road (St Pieters to Holstraat) while at uni.. Weird to see both routes again:) Also, I was in Shenzhen recently and had the exact same bike in my hands wondering if I should buy it! Groeten uit London
Hell yeah, I’ve had mine for almost 2 years, had to change the front panel due to water damage and upgrade the tires to solid but it’s done over 1500 kilometres so far and I’ve used it almost everyday since buying it. Everyone should own one ☝️ no carbon footprint and it’s better than a car in that you can ride it on the sidewalk between people and places a car can’t go.
The video was great! In Japan, you can't easily ride an Electric scooters yet. The law is troublesome. I'm looking forward to the video! With love from Japan :)
I have owned 4 e-scooters. They are really useful for short distance commuting(usually around 10km trip) whereby getting onto a public transport is less convenient. Regarding the maintenance issue, all tools require some sort of tuning and maintenance. IF you buy a car, you need to regularly check its performance, the same goes for e-scooters, but they are far less complicated. Some oiling and checking for loose bolts are required if you plan to use them for a long time. A very worthy investment.
Not only you have the same name, you also bought the same scooter and live in the same country. Nice video. The anti-theft feature actually brakes the scooter so you can't just roll it away. Not sure if you have the most recent firmware. There is also a way to increase the power & performance. send me a pm if needed. got 70km's on mine now, but can't wait for summer.
that was the total of kilometers I've driven with it :p now closer to 200. Range is around 22 in eco, 20 in normal (but i updated it to go faster. around 32 on flat road)
You have to underline on the title that you're reviewing the "youth" edition and not the standard one. Which is not correct for whose who clik on your video.
I had this scooter and battery fuse blew after 200km. Be very careful with emergency braking as this will overload the regenerative braking and blow the fuse. Try stopping as hard as you can from full speed. Will kill the fuse.
For people from some European countries , sometimes there are offers on Gearbest to deliver the M365 from their GW4 warehouse (Poland) so you dont have to wait 1 month for the usual delivery from China. I ordered mine on a monday and got it delivered the same week on friday (UPS).
I really like the look of that. i am 46, thinking of using the credit card to obtain one. Great for short 10 km travels. Nice video as well. Well made Great shots of Belgium . i need to visit Antwerp again soon on my Vespa. :-)
Yeah i did that for a year or so in edinburgh, steep hills ect, it was very tiring but a good work out! Then I got an electric scooter, which cut my time down from 45 mins to about 25 so that was good
Ben benieuwd ! Antwerpen stad!
This looks like fun! BTW, I heard on 'de inspecteur' that nobody really knows the legalities. They called an importer and someone from the police I believe and nobody could 100% say if you need insurance or a licence plate or not.
Anywhere you look it depends on the season, cheapest to buy any of those is between December and March, the highest demand for them is from May to September.
there are two different e scooters at my work, the full version of this one and a segway ninbot. I've used both a bit and the xiaomi one is much better imo. the inflatable tires are really great, with the ninebot every little bump in the pavement is transferred to the hands. Also the xiaomi has better build quality.
"You almost want to go to work just to ride the scooter" My favorite line of yours coz' you got me there, hahaha!. I'm riding my new Mi 1s for 3 days now and it's really fun riding it to work. My only nightmare would be the flat tire if ever happened. That's why I will order 2 solid tires now just in case I would not wait longer for the tires to come.
In my case, i keep it near my desk at the office. At school it be difficult since you need to charge the scooter, and also travel from class to class. Like at work for example if we have an event after work, i just leave it at my desk, can't drag the scooter around to a bar, etc.
Heb deze bijna 2 jaar. 3000km mee gereden.
I have the regular m365 normal battery and the weight is a bit heavy to lug around, our train service in Canada is decent but commuters still dont like you very much with a scooter on the floor. Its an ongoing reason to bump into you, so it was good to see other travel systems are more friendly towards eco friendly travel. I use the scooter to avoid parking at the train station. I use a push scooter now, razor a5 air, only weighs 5.5 Kg with pneumatic wheels, its a push scooter but better for short range due to the form factor. Thanks for the video and happy scooting.
I had a xootr when I worked in Pyrmont over 10 years ago and ride to and from the train station. Was great on flats. When we changed offices to Surry hill and there was a very steep hill it was useless. This electric scooter looks like it would have possibly been a solution for going uphill.
People in Spain use these to get around on the pavement and everywhere. In the UK they are illegal on the streets. Annoying as they cut traffic and pollution.
@@joshb7415 - I guess, but people do not use them as the cops can fine you £75 and even arrest you. They can also take you to court and put points on your actual car license which you can then lose or at least have your insurance go way up. I live in Edinburgh and the pavements are very poor here as the city is very old andl has a Medfeival layout so you'd be getting on and off every few seconds to get past obstacles. Not to mention that Scots are pretty aggressive one might take the law into their hands if they see you on the pavement with these. Bikes are better.
I’m Scottish and I keep thinking that you sound Scottish. Some of the ways you pronounce words sound Scottish.Great video.I see lots of people riding these in London.
There are now even two official renting services for ebikes in the center of Brussels, not with Xiaomi but other brands. So if it is not legal : do you think a company would take the risk renting them out ?
I love how organized the transportation is in the EU. Imagine living in the USA, where we have zero reliable public transport. Everyone here has to pay to have a car as there are very few trains connecting the cities together, with very little light rail in even the biggest metros. This adds AT LEAST €12K to a person’s annual expenses. Great review btw!
it is not that reliable at all, our politicians just try to make americans think that we have it better and against us they say look at those americans we have better trains, but believe me EU is bad
@@raketman101 I don't know man, I've been the northern Europe and it was pretty convenient, at least the trains and getting around. The lack of transportation here in the US is one of the key ways we pay a heafty and unofficial tax. I guess it may depend on which country we're talking about in the EU. The problem with the US is that it is huge in size, with lots of unpopulated countryside in between it's towns. There's really no way to get around in the USA if you don't own your own car, it's required. If I wanted to travel from the outer part of town to the center in my town, Raleigh, NC, it would take at least 2 hours via our bus system.
I am seriously considering this. I have a Dahon folding bike, but it does take a few minutes to fold up or to restore to a riding state and is heavy to carry around. You invariably arrive at your destination covered in perspiration and that is the greatest problem with cycling. As with cycling, it will be highly advisable to wear a helmet.
It will have the same rights as a bycycle in 2019-2020 with the new trafic code. Question: what if the battery is empty, can you use ut as a standard step ?
Regarding the legality, I think this falls under the new category of electric bikes EU made in the beginning of 2018 - L1e-A, which includes electric bikes with throttle (not pedal assistance) up to 1kW.
I look forward to cycling my folding bike to work each day. I get some exercise and it fits in my car no problem. This scooter just won't be as much fun for me plus zero exercise. And you have to charge the thing up all the time.
Sure its illegal but will the police care? I took a ride on my skateboard in the city yesterday and went on a 30km/h street, past a police car and waved. Two happy police officers waved back to me and pat their heads and gave me a thumbs up. (I always wear a helmet on that thing). Was probably going close to 40km/h. Grandma bikes faster than the M365'stop speed so the rules are just messed up right now.
See your point, would love an electric bike, but due to knee injuries, these type of scooters actually allow me to have a cheaper alternative to a car, still offering some exercise through its use. Pedaling action of a bike makes knee painful, standing on scooter does not.
It is legal. No grey zone. EU legislation permits 250 W motors on either ebikes or scooters. As long as you are in 250 W limit and not going more than 25 km/h u gucci.
AFAIK that's true if the motor only assists with pedaling. As soon as ebike is throttle controlled, you need to register it like motorcycle. I'm not sure how it could work for this kind of scooter - accelerometer detecting when you push with your feet and it assists only then? Laws fail to keep up with tech.
These fall in the same regulations as electric skateboards do, they are perfectly legal unless you ride them too fast. I skate my boosted board all over gent and have not been stopped once. You will need family insurance to cover any damage to 3rd parties, but almost everyone has that. Good review!
When Eon gets it's scooters out on the market in the next month or two, you should take a look. The Eon Mini goes 24kmph, has a range of 28kms, and weighs 15lbs (6.8kg) The fastest one, the Platinum, goes 72kph, has a range over 80kms, and weighs 45lbs (20.4 kgs) If you are interested in finding out more, just look up Eon Scooters. They are at the tail end of their IndieGoGo campaign, and sending everything off to China to start to get mass production going.
legally they are limited to 25km/hr so only can compete on range. anything doing 70+ kph is an actual motor vehicle they needs tax and a licence and has to stay on the road which defeats the whole purpose of this.
I had to do a lot of my own research on E-bikes to see if it was legal where I live in the U.S. I found all kinds of State, City, and County laws, all a little different and some badly in need of updating. E-bike forums gave me the best information as people who actually use them on bike paths have had no problems from police and probably won't until one is involved in a serious accident. It's probably the same with E-scooters. The tech is so new it will probably take awhile for the laws to catch up. About the app, I would put the phone on the handle bars so the app would probably come in handy for me. Good review, thanks.
I got a car and a motorcycle and now a 700watt kick scooter in time like these we change our ways to save money, wrong to say that I got one since they are really fun to ride :D and the fact that I'm going to work in my hometown for the next two years
Nope, only if he was riding a bike, motor or car. That's as far as our laws go at the moment. Also if you drive drunk on a bike in the wrong direction they can take your car permit.
I used to ride an electric skateboard on the road, fully armored up with lights and stuff. that was around the time of this video. electric vehicles in new zealand had nothing, so police gave me weird looks and let me be, my skateboard was able to reach speeds of 35kmph which turned to 80kmph going down hill lucky im a vet when it comes to down hill skateboarding and longboarding. lately sadly i was on my skateboard and was pulled over cause the laws had recently changed, luckily for me this scooter is allowed on roads

There is also a way to increase the power & performance. send me a pm if needed. got 70km's on mine now, but can't wait for summer.
i hope the anti theft feature protects you from knives and guns too
Sup RenzVC, can you tell me how did you get 70 km on your scooter? Thanks :)
that was the total of kilometers I've driven with it :p now closer to 200. Range is around 22 in eco, 20 in normal (but i updated it to go faster. around 32 on flat road)
My dream city.. where is this.. i like when people use more bike than cars :)
@@sallynie8095 san francisco is the king of electric scooters and folding bikes and everything overly techie on the streets 😂
You have to underline on the title that you're reviewing the "youth" edition and not the standard one. Which is not correct for whose who clik on your video.
I remember this was the first video I ever saw about e-scooters back in 2019. I bought my first one and been happy since.
I had this scooter and battery fuse blew after 200km. Be very careful with emergency braking as this will overload the regenerative braking and blow the fuse. Try stopping as hard as you can from full speed. Will kill the fuse.
Hasn't this been patched yet?
@seguiriya1 If you use it a lot, it might be worth replacing the whole thing after a year?
For people from some European countries , sometimes there are offers on Gearbest to deliver the M365 from their GW4 warehouse (Poland) so you dont have to wait 1 month for the usual delivery from China. I ordered mine on a monday and got it delivered the same week on friday (UPS).
I think I'm the only one that said "OH SHIT A MIATA" at the beggining
I really like the look of that. i am 46, thinking of using the credit card to obtain one. Great for short 10 km travels. Nice video as well. Well made Great shots of Belgium . i need to visit Antwerp again soon on my Vespa. :-)
I tried to commute to work with a normal Scooter, but that is really too exhausting...
buy a longboard/pennyboard nickel way less exhausting i go to school whit my pennyboard nickel and thats 10km
Yeah i did that for a year or so in edinburgh, steep hills ect, it was very tiring but a good work out! Then I got an electric scooter, which cut my time down from 45 mins to about 25 so that was good
Ben benieuwd ! Antwerpen stad!
It's illegal to ride on the road in Singapore....top speed only allowed at 25kph.....riding on pathway or parkconnector only.
This looks like fun! BTW, I heard on 'de inspecteur' that nobody really knows the legalities. They called an importer and someone from the police I believe and nobody could 100% say if you need insurance or a licence plate or not.
Everybody: Can I ride ur scooter?
unicorn: No, it could be illegal
Everybody: nO ItS IlLEgAL
Also consider an electric longboard. Got mine for $375 and it's even more portable (I got the Wowgo 2S)
245 seems to be an awesome price, can't find it for under 400.
You're looking at the adults model, the one he has is a child model.
@@mal3k_xd thx!
Now you see theme everywhere in Belgium XD !
"You almost want to go to work just to ride the scooter", I felt that
Nice review and picture quality! Greetings from Russia!
10/10 on that Miata. I drive a green 99 and you just reassured me that the scooter would fit. Fat thumbs up
Now I really need one.
Oh this comment explains your scooter video now. Your video influenced me to get one by the way
Whatever RUclipss algorithm is doing here. I hope you get more views. You deserve it man.
"The police don't know the regulation of this thing either." LMAO
PRECISELY! EVERYTHING has to be REGULATED which means coming up with a phalanx of rules first, probably like wearing a basket on your head!!
Looks so smooth to ride. Need to find a good reason to buy one of these
"Is it legal?" More like "Hey slave lord, can I ride this?"
Modernistic slave mindset in a nutshell.
Yeah that was really weird. I don't give a shit whether it's legal or not. It's not a motorcycle or anything.
Life rule: Ask for forgiveness not permission.
life rule: fuck the police
"You almost want to go to work just to ride the scooter" My favorite line of yours coz' you got me there, hahaha!. I'm riding my new Mi 1s for 3 days now and it's really fun riding it to work. My only nightmare would be the flat tire if ever happened. That's why I will order 2 solid tires now just in case I would not wait longer for the tires to come.
I just have one question, where do you put the scooter when you arrive at your location (like school)?
In ur class lol
In my case, i keep it near my desk at the office. At school it be difficult since you need to charge the scooter, and also travel from class to class.
Like at work for example if we have an event after work, i just leave it at my desk, can't drag the scooter around to a bar, etc.
At our school we are not allowed to take them to school
My school has a parking
@@toonypubg-mobileandcodm5510 nice
Heb deze bijna 2 jaar. 3000km mee gereden.
Great review man, merci! Cheers from Sydney
Thank you for talking about the weight limit.. (next)
In a post corona virus world we need people on these instead of public transport/
miata and a xiaomi m365 you know what youre doing mate !!! geen douane belastingen ?
A Miata is a girl's car.
Are you telling me I could have skipped hairdressersschool and gone for a boobjob instead?
No taxes this time :)
Wow!! These electric scooters are becoming very popular!!
@@AnyoneCanSee Yes here too about the driver's license, most of these people are too dumb to care...
I’m Scottish and I keep thinking that you sound Scottish. Some of the ways you pronounce words sound Scottish.Great video.I see lots of people riding these in London.
🏴🏴
had a xiaomi in Brussels. no problem with the police..
There are now even two official renting services for ebikes in the center of Brussels, not with Xiaomi but other brands. So if it is not legal : do you think a company would take the risk renting them out ?
Where did you buy yours?
@Frischeparadies Very good point that everyone ignores, it's not even possible to insure them... 🤑
If I wanted to travel from the outer part of town to the center in my town, Raleigh, NC, it would take at least 2 hours via our bus system.
ah, Belgium and its regulations ...
by the way, we are probably train-mates :D
I do Mechelen and Ghent.
I have nightmare visions of hitting a rock and falling on my face but I can see myself buying one in a few years.
Thanks for using metric units
I am seriously considering this. I have a Dahon folding bike, but it does take a few minutes to fold up or to restore to a riding state and is heavy to carry around. You invariably arrive at your destination covered in perspiration and that is the greatest problem with cycling. As with cycling, it will be highly advisable to wear a helmet.
There is also a Xiaomi ebike its called qicycle. Can you do a review on that one please?
Great review. Thank you. Very tempted by these!
Not all countries in Europa have same regulations.
I had both, scooter from video and brompton folding bike - sold the scooter, kept bike. Excercise and no need to charge won it for me
Sure its illegal but will the police care? I took a ride on my skateboard in the city yesterday and went on a 30km/h street, past a police car and waved. Two happy police officers waved back to me and pat their heads and gave me a thumbs up. (I always wear a helmet on that thing). Was probably going close to 40km/h.
Grandma bikes faster than the M365'stop speed so the rules are just messed up right now.
How about a foldable electric bike?? Checkmate!
In my country to be legal 500 w max and it has to have operable pedals so these scooters are a no-go 😝
Thanks dude
Looking at buying one and this was a useful video
Hi, we're a few months later now. Still didn't had any issues with the police?
None whatsoever
zalig eindelijk reviews vanuit belgie (aalst )!!!
You live in belgium? I initially thought it was the case just seeing the park at 1:30 then saw a sign for lokeren.
These fall in the same regulations as electric skateboards do, they are perfectly legal unless you ride them too fast. I skate my boosted board all over gent and have not been stopped once. You will need family insurance to cover any damage to 3rd parties, but almost everyone has that. Good review!
I bet that gent was upset you skated over him, though.
It needs some way of using a bike lock, I would get looks if I tried taking it into shops where I live.
You can put a Kryptonite U-lock through the rear wheel or around the tube above the front wheel. Should be enough for some quick shopping.
When Eon gets it's scooters out on the market in the next month or two, you should take a look.
The Eon Mini goes 24kmph, has a range of 28kms, and weighs 15lbs (6.8kg)
The fastest one, the Platinum, goes 72kph, has a range over 80kms, and weighs 45lbs (20.4 kgs)
If you are interested in finding out more, just look up Eon Scooters. They are at the tail end of their IndieGoGo campaign, and sending everything off to China to start to get mass production going.
I had a look. It looks horrible and those specs are from an indigogo page, I'm not even going to mail them to be honest
legally they are limited to 25km/hr so only can compete on range. anything doing 70+ kph is an actual motor vehicle they needs tax and a licence and has to stay on the road which defeats the whole purpose of this.
This is €400 without shipping and insurance... definitely not 245...
Chris Grillo he said he got it during a deal/sale
I would imagine they raised the price, since it's on RUclips with good reviews.....??
It is the youth edition which is cheaper. I bought the m365 (so the "full" version) for 350€ so this is definetly not 400€
Look at 0:58, he said they where on a 'flash sale', so MSRP is of course higher than that :D
I bought mine for about 250$. Check aliexpress.
You have Xiaomi M187 Youth Edition, not M365. Please correct it.
MX5 Na and xiaomi 365, you are the best!
cheaper and better than Brompton.. nice!
well, cheaper for sure
Looks like Xiaomi will be great here by the end of this year.
There is a shared scooter service in brussels so it should be legal.Espescially because it is similar to e-bikes and only assists you.
cool review dude:) very detailed and honest and local:)
How well does it handle tram tracks?
Great video! Especially that you were talking about how it performs in cold weather conditions.
How heavy can u be to ride this
I got a car and a motorcycle and now a 700watt kick scooter in time like these we change our ways to save money, wrong to say that I got one since they are really fun to ride :D and the fact that I'm going to work in my hometown for the next two years
I'd rather be in that nice MX5 eunos and splash the cash :)
When that lorry went past, I'd have lost another few pounds by shitting myself
Just as he was talking about the legality of it.... check out the traffic signs right after 6:22 -> aren't you going the wrong way, mate?
