I always enjoy your Pentatonix reactions so much, because you are one of the rare reactors who actually LISTENS and picks up details of arrangement and performance -- when something delights you like the trio trade-off in "Gold" or the bell-tones in "New Rules etc.", that makes me happy because they delight me too. I think we hear similarly.
I think you would get even more fun out of the second number if you acquaint yourself with the original individual songs "New Rules" and "Are You That Somebody", because PTX uses the beat pattern of the second song underneath the tune of the first one. It's really clever.
We probably have the same hearing taste haha

I felt like this was a reset for the group, and Matt stepped up to show what the group could be now with him fully stepping into the bass role. The play between Kevin and Matt was what made it for me :-)

Beyoncé didn’t do this it was actually a mash up of New Rules by Dua Lipa and Are you that Somebody by Aaliyah. If you want to see them do Beyoncé they have an evolution of Beyoncé also done live in the recording studio. All their evolutions are great. They also have Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Ariana Grande and evolution of Music. Or if you want to check out Superfruit ( Mitch and Scott’s side project) they also have a Beyoncé medley worth reacting to.

I think you picked up on it, but just in case: In the beginning it is all Mitch. Later, when the part is reprised, it is the trio.

Yes, everyone is surprised at the end when they split the part up into three (it just shows how in sync the trio can be). Especially after Mitch covers all three octaves his own the first three times most reactors have to go back and listen to end over again. As for the bell tones, it's Mitch, Kirstie, Scott, Mitch again (but very lightly).

What a great way to mimic the sampling bounce, one or two words each, and that note Kirstie sings that changes the chord... their arrangements are SICK. I love their blend especially when they do a swelling note, they breathe together. You have a good ear, Sir. 🤗

I’ve been watching your reactions since you had around 100 subs. But I come back to this one because it has one of my fav PTX covers EVER, one of my favs featuring Matt, and your reaction is so fun and informative and you appreciate everything they do…. This is a perfect example of why I subbed and I can’t help being proud to see how much the channel has grown!

This is why I love your reactions; nobody else caught the "bells". Idk if they all thought they were actual bells. I watched several times trying to figure out who did them. Obviously mitch (who seems to be able to imitate anything), I'm still not 100% sure if it's just him. Anyway you are outstanding!

Great reaction, thank you! This is one of my favorite mashups, and you’re right that the way Kevin starts it out just sets this level of perfection that the rest of them bring to the table. I also love how you describe or explain how PTX doesn’t leave any “gaps” in the flow of their music. They have such a sophistication with all their projects.
Sometimes for fun I like to look at two of their videos from their first year following their start on RUclips, one is We Are Ninjas (advertising for the Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie in 2014 and Cruising for a Bruising in 2013). You should look at both during the same reaction, they are shorter presentations but so much fun. They are such babies but you can see their evolution starting!

Loved your reaction ! Gold is one of my favorites , it has such a nice vibe ! And the "bouncing " between Mitch and Kirstie is called echoing ( I think ) , they also do that in "Valentine" .
The voices of Kirstie and Mitch blend so well together and seem to sound as one sometimes . The same goes for Scott and Avi , soo special !!

I always love reactors that catch and love my favorite parts of their arrangements and you did both! The switching in Gold and the bell tones in New Rules/Are You That Somebody (which was actually an Aaliyah song, produced by Timbaland - PTX used that beat over New Rules). In Gold, PTX uses the switching to make it sound like the vocals are more computerized. If you hear the original Gold, that part is all computers. They did the same thing in their Daft Punk medley. It always amazes me!

@@QofyReacts I thinks it just happens to be the placement of Matt's bass note there, that makes it a (sort of coincidental) fourth bell tone. When they do the bell tones the first and third times, they're dotted notes, and I think the third one actually hits at the same time as Matt's bass note, so you only hear the three. But on the second (and fourth) run, they're just regular quarter notes, so his bass note hits right after the third, making it sound like a fourth.
