I don't have a control room, but I might be able to use this as a way to have a In-ear monitor mix running along the "public" music… Wether I end up using it or not, thanks a lot for this video, it's top notch as usual!
The one thing that seems a bit awkward is swapping what channels are doing in the routing matrix when you want to flip between control room monitoring of control room and headphone mixes. What if you had a top level folder track F, and then a subfolder track H with all the headphone tracks under it (and all the control room tracks sit under F as well). Then you change the parent routing on H to route on channels 3 and 4, and use the input selector JS or similar on track F to switch between headphone and control room mixes easily.
Why not use a master send? Would simplify being able to monitor the artist mix. Also this method can get cumbersome if you're running more than one artist mix.
I do mostly live capture recording and I have used similar methods in the past to create a FOH/Monitor send without effecting the recording. When post mixing, I rarely if ever use the mixer window. One of the glaring problems with Reaper is the lack of Sub Send control. In the console era, you had a knob for Headphone send and for Reverb, etc. I'd like to see a pop-up mixer for those functions that didn't vanish after making one adjustment or a way to park it in the docker.
Kenny- is there a setting to simply route the monitoring output to different channels than the playback output? I don't need discrete mixes as much as I'd just like to be able to hear normal playback through channels 1-2 and the direct monitoring through channels 3-4. Creating a whole separate set of tracks just to do that is adding a ton of complexity to my workflow. Thanks!
Reaper COULD make multiple an option for multiple fader banks. I'd rather just use more faders and quick select between them. No hiding channels. Im Sure I'm only griping cuz it's new to me. I'd use it but it's still kinda janky. I'd rather IP control on their own device.
I don't think I would dare change so much in the options, I'd never find my way back. I'm wondering if there's a way to memorise a reaper setup status which would include everything, a bit like screensets but including preferences, and which I could return to as a default. I guess it would be equivalent to having multiple portable installs.
What would have added more value to me is ading the track you are about to record, say vocal, and how that works, bt great stuff, should be able to work the rest out
Actually, would it be possible to put a separate mix in a lane which would be available on any track? Or even a Show Seperate Mix option which would give every track some extra controls?
Is there any way to save and recall the "master/parent" send so you can switch with one key press? Ideally, have it switch along with the screenset, so as to hear what I see, instead of having to call up the routing matrix and select all the tracks?
Two things, why can't Reaper store the routing to each seen store, so we are not constantly working, in and out, of the routing window? Two could this be made into a template?
Please make tutorial on "How to avoid clipping without losing the original volume level of a loop or without turning down the fader in mixer ?"😢 & Vise versa how to sound loud without touching fader Please it's my kind request 🙏😢
Why can't you just add sends on each track for each headphone mix? Logic does it easy peasy. I can quickly give each band member whatever they want. Is this possible with Reaper?
Hi, recently discovered reaper, but I’m having trouble with third-party plug-ins. My Softube plug-ins used to work, but now freeze reaper and Some of my Slate digital plug-ins are recognized my Reaper but some are not. Any help you could give would be much appreciated.
In previous videos you did something similar. This is essentially how you have to route to put "Sends-On-Faders" not only for this Artist Mixes, but also for effect sends or other parallels. Right? Was the purpose of Duplicating the tracks, then deleting the FX just to get identical track Names, was there anything else being kept? And, is there not a way to create a shortcut for Groups of tracks in the Master/Parent send, rather than swiping manually? It would obviously be much easier if you could toggle like with the Screensets.
I'm not sure if this results in the same functionality but I found this SWS extension to make setting up headphone mixes easier, ruclips.net/video/HYov9bXFz7k/видео.html. And you can change the headphone mix from your cell phone or tablet.
I reckon I could not set this up without this video. Thanks.

This will defos be something I’ll use in my home studio - precisely as you describe.

It'd be nice if Reaper would allow you to designate a send as a cue mix which would then be flipped to faders.
Check out the Mpl Send Faders script!
I would put all the dup track as a sub tracks (of a named headphone track) disable master send and rout it to headphones out...
Amazing as always sir!

Thnx Kenny 😉👍🏽🎼

Wow that was complicated but interesting..

I'm a beginner. Sorry for the dumb question. Do you need a 4 track audio interface to achieve this technique? Thanks!
Sick thank you
Everybody is now starting to "talk a lot" about mixing music in Dolby Atmos.
Any chance this could be done also in REAPER? Tutorial maybe? Thanks.

Hello there!
Do you know why I route a mono track to my out 3 plays only the left of the headphones?
Please make tutorial on

Woof! Thats a lot of bull-f'n-shit to do something that should be super quick and easy.

What theme are you using?

there's no native action to disable Master/Parent send for selected tracks, but there's one in the SWS/S&M extension
