- Who does not love sausages for breakfast? These vegan sausage patties are so flavorful and delicious, it is hard to eat just one. They happen to be gluten-free, which is a fantastic thing for all my gluten-free friends out there. They are super easy to make and can be finished with a glaze that takes sausage to a gourmet level. I am super excited to show you these.

I made this recipe today and my husband and I really enjoyed them! I will be cooking for our Children’s Youth Ministries this weekend and we have a couple of people who are gluten-free so I am taking these breakfast patties to serve as part of the breakfast meal.

Hi Chef Ani. I love your recipes and instructions. Today I attempted the Gluten free sausages. I did not have the consistency of the oats right. I started with steel cut oats, cooked them but they weren't quite right . So my sausage Patties crumbled when baked. But! with some beans, tomato sauce and chili powder, voila, fabulous vegan chili!
I enjoy her channel, shes super cute! I used lentils in place of soy and it turned out great :)

Looks good. Consider trying adding some finely diced mushrooms in the mix, if you want a slightly moister texture

I just ate some store bought ones and they were tasty, but I prefer knowing exactly what's in my food, and since my doctor (hormone specialist) put me on a plant based diet due to menopause and my blood work showed I needed to be gluten free; this recipe will be perfect for me. Thanks Chef Ani, I'm a recent convert to vegetarianism but often use vegan recipes. I made this today and it's a really tasty and filling recipe. I converted the patties into sausages and used rice paper as skin. Considering I haven't used either before, I was quite pleased with the results and there's plenty to freeze since it made about 25 sausages. I have been looking for an alternative to VWG because I don't like the aftertaste. I've even tried the washed flour method with a 'chicken' flavour, which was better, but not as rich and tasty as this recipe. Thanks again x

Hi! I am excited to find this. What exactly is veggie protein? Is that like the crumbles you find near the Beyond Meat section at Whole Foods?
Great question! I use textured vegetable protein (TVP). It is a highly nutritious soy product. Bob's Red Mill sells it.

Sausages. I made a few batches this summer. Most were black bean and/or carrot based. This video gives me ideas. Will have to try my hand at it again.
What I did cook this past week was just simple Mushrooms and spinach sautee. Not fancy, but it was good.

Hello! These look so yummy and I want to make them, but have some questions. 1. What flavor bouillon did you use? "Beef", "Chicken" or Vegetable? 2. Do I need to fry and put the glaze on them or can I just bake them? 3. Your description says to add liquid smoke, but it's not listed in your ingredients. How much do I need?
Great questions! I like to use vegetable bouillon in this recipe, along with 1/2 teaspoon hickory smoked powder. No, you do not need to fry these sausages or add the glaze.

I would do some experimenting, but powdered smoke is more concentrated than the liquid smoke.

Yes, these can be made without the TVP, but it changes the texture. I would increase the amount of oats and possibly add more walnuts for extra texture. Hope this helps.

I know I'm late in the game lol..I'm also new to this vegan lifestyle that I want to try but is there a way to make all of this with out the nutritional yeast and wheat gluten? As I have none of these products on hand at home. Just regular flour and what's the purpose of those ingredients are they neccessary for use?
Welcome. Never too late. Yes, you can omit the nutritional yeast, it has more to do with flavor, and we do not use wheat gluten in this particular recipe. There are a few recipes on the website that requires vital wheat gluten, but most of them do not.
This is just the recipe I've been looking for! Can they be frozen? If yes, for how long?
Yes, they freeze beautifully! I think they will last in the freezer for at least 3 months.

I think soy curls are a good substitute for TVP.
