    The GT-R may be super old, but old in a good way. I still love it’s exterior and interior design even though Nissan has not really changed much to this overtime. The engine and power though, still competitive and it’s still a beast. Price is nuts for a car this old, $130,000 for where I live in Canada, but still much less expensive than most other competitors, but I remember when this car was like $70,000 USD which is around $95,000 CAD back in 2007, and that undercut its competitors significantly.

    Absolutely criminal Nissan can get away without at least updating the interior. Dot matrix graphics in the gauges. ROFL. My 2008 EVO X which I bought brand new had that. Funny thing is I actually considered this car AGAIN for the 3rd time when I decided to put in an order for the G80 M3. Just the newness was a no brainer going with the M3. Just a shame Nissan did nothing but tiny upgrades here and there during the lifecycle of this car. Definitely not worth the ask price.

      That's true, but maybe it's because people like to crap on Nissan for not updating their vehicles all that much when they release one. But the GT-R is one that I think does new car old the best. I'm not upset that the design and the interior still basically look the same since it came out, because it's still a nice looking design to this day. This is a car that is different because it's so old. It's raw, mechanical, it's not as refined, it's more engaging, you feel everything on the road, and that's what a driver's car is supposed to be. 10 years down the line, this car will still look good to me.

    I love how analog the Interior still is, its a breath of fresh air from all the so called minimalist Interiors that turn out to be more complicated to use then an f22 fighter jet, cough cough, Volkswagen. Interiors have become nothing exciting to look at, just boring iPad screens next to more iPad screens, cough cough, Ford. This interior is so satisfying to look at, and I'm sure it's even more satisfying to be inside of and use on a daily basis. Say what u will about Nissan, cough cough, qashqai. They freaking nailed this car, and it's been over a decade, and it's still checks off all the boxes. Although a manual would have been pretty freaking sweet but the world's not a perfect place, and that would have made this thing just about the perfect enthusiast dream machine. But none the less, you have to give credit ware credit is due, well done Nissan.

    New and GT-R should never be used in the same sentence. It's a relic. It's rare because it doesn't sell and there are plenty of AWD cars that accelerate like this. Porsche says hello. There is no technical reason to buy this car, you buy this because you want it. All the spin in the world isn't going to get more than a 200 people a year to buy it, if that. There is a trend I'm noticing with tired old Japanese cars, they're being spun as special when they're simply outdated. It's utter nonsense. Rarity because of poor sales, as opposed to truly limited production is just complete BS. It's rare because no one wants one.

      For someone that collects cars and this no doubt was always something special. You want to come back in 5 years and not laugh at a joke of a dated screen looking “ infotainments center” that you see in cars that are just a few years old today. Dials are best for Collector cars like this. 5 or 10 or 25 years later you don’t want to be stuck replacing a big tablet screen in a car because all your infotainments went out on your Apple Watch interior car. 😂 even if you have the $12,000 including labor to replace all that garbage try finding dated screens in years to come on an old model car they don’t make anymore. All gone! Not available anymore. Plus the tooling and computers are gone.

    I love my R35, it gets attn everywhere I go, probably more attn then a lambo or ferrari, and definitely more than a porsche or vette or hellcat... When I drive it I can just feel all the other sports car drivers thinking about my GT-R and them sulking a bit... hahahahahaha

  • @RandyJM21
    @RandyJM21 Год назад

    You said if money not an issue you get the GTR when 991T exists ? GTRs were cool when they dropped because for only 10K more then a base C8 decades later you had the AWD + Auto launch that destroyed everything besides the 911 and it was kinda close . But the 75K entry fee made it a thing where you didnt need Porsche / exotic money to have the tech and AWD . You were a stoplight serial killer because in real world traction is what wins and americans were still mostly absorbed with ruining expensive tires by creating heat which causes tire fire smoke to breath HINNDERING forward momentum making them stupid for being all about straightline 0-60 1/4, yet but hurt when their car with more power just plays sit and spin while a computer hooked to AWD inside a heavy lump with just a 6 cyl would leave them close to the way a 911T would .
    People tried to put the GTR down for feeling disconnected and working too well , as to say NO FAR your cars better and faster so of course its better and faster but it doesnt have a V8 and it luanches instead of spinning tires so it doesnt REALLY count . Until they realized it was somehow fast all around despite being pig fat and not even huge HP from 3.8 .
    Exotic owners said it was a car for non drivers who watch video games and the car worked too well so not as much fun because less driver skill was needed to extract high limits , so again saying , no fair , your cars better so of course your car performs better , try that in an italian car and you will understand why your silly for buying a WAY less expensive car that does everything better .
    However Nissan has not much money and since it shot its wad on the GTR it has milked it and still sells essentially the same car to save on tooling and EVERYTHING it costs to make new cars and develope new stuff and added some tuning , little improvements and custom shop touches but for the most part they sell you an old car but have doubled or more the price while other MFGs have kept moving .
    The GTR was the car called not engaging and your saying you like it because today nearly 20 years later what was new boring tech which is still used despite being the car that represented TECH over everything as long as results were great saying its a pro to have a hard clanky single clutch because the modern DCTs on other cars work too well which is like saying GTR is fast but it doesnt ruin tires making smoke and has no V8 so its boring compared to a RWD MT V8 car .
    Truth is you have to be enamoured with the GTR badge and into Japanese stuff and not care that the car wasnt really developed and has lost the HOLYSHIT and affordable Japanese car does what expensive cars do and better in some cases and now is a 150K or more expensive car .
    Once your dopping 150k on a car your no longer the underdog . No longer the " its ugly " but performs budget spoiler car .
    If your a certain age and remember when these were legends from the jump and want to buy one as you remember them and have 150k to spend on one the same way somebody would spend 150k on a cherry and stock Supra OK . Its basically a nostalgia car or a classic car you can buy brand new . Its still gonna be fast and all that , so i guess so . But the price on a car that hasnt been truly updated or developed means you have plenty of money to not care and just want the car you couldnt get as a kid when it was special and thats fine actually , but no serious person is buying it because its the best car , best bang for buck or the slayer of cars for people with money .
    If you like the GTR and you have money tou get the 911t which is a somewhat similar formula except way better in every possible way and has been developed to where ITS SO GREAT ITS BORING is the knock on it same as the GTR except it isnt as boring as a GTR just more refined , not as pig fat and has lots more power and better feel etc . Granted its at least 100k more but once your buying a car that starts at 150k you dont shop like a human being . At least DO NOT SAY YOU WOULD TAKE THE GTR over 911T if given choice because you want to hear the clunks and shift bang so it feels more real in a GTR , a GTR which is supposed to represent TECH and PERFORMANCE as THE METRIC , its disingenous . Im not a porsche fan and was a big GTR fan when knew and it was doing shit nobody expected from a 70K Japanese car . But Nissan is on life support and not really a serious player anymore and tue GTR just lives on past glory and you can litterally buy a C8 for 1/2 the price OR buy an E RAY cheaper and the ERAY has the AWD party trick down and just a nicer car all around .
    These are nostalgia cars. People would pay 150k if GM could produce a brand new 69 Camaro and sell it with the shittiest tires , live axel , rear drums etc but nobody would buy it because it represents something great of whats availible in 2023 .
    100% I would buy a non Z07 Z06 or an E RAY as an off the floor car over a new 2009 GTR in 2023/ 4 with a tune, minor changes , wheels , better brembos , a headliner and minor tweaks . If the GTR was still a value car then OK , if they passed down the savings of non development and new MFG tooling etc , ok . But its in no mans land with its pricing .
