  • The Most FUN You Can Have In An EV? Hyundai Ioniq 5 N First Drive
Needless to say, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and whilst I may be somewhat late to the party, I’m here to see what all that buzz is actually about.
Let's kick off with the power; making use of a 82kWh battery, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N offers up to 650hp with 740NM, with power fed to all four wheels. Despite its size and weight, the Ioniq 5 N can propel itself to 62mph in just 3.4 seconds, and where possible, will continue to a top speed of 161mph.
In regard to range, Hyundai quotes an official range of 278, although it's been reported that 240 is more realistic in real world conditions.
OK, it’s not cheap at £65,000 but thankfully there is a lot as standard. There are LED lights, high beam assist, 21” alloys, alcantara bucket seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outer rear seats, heated steering wheel, 12.3” touchscreen, 12.3” digital display, BOSE premium sound system, keyless entry, climate control, drive mode and N mode button, head up display, wireless phone charger, N active sound+, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera and smart cruise control.
There’s also a strong amount of safety systems including intelligent speed limit assist, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring to name a few.

Even for people who hate EVs, the future of performance electric cars is this. If it can’t be ICE, simulating it in the best possible way is the best compromise. Brilliant.

What is brake horsepower (bhp)?. 🤔

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Месяц назад +1

Taken from the net: "Traditionally in the UK, brake horsepower (bhp) has been the go-to measure of a car's power. While hp does not take into account frictional losses in power from an engine, brake horsepower does - meaning hp is always higher than bhp. The difference between the two is small on a 1:1 basis."

That's fair enough, although I'd urge you not to knock it until you've tried it. I agree, a lot of EVs I've driven have done little to excite me, but the Ioniq 5 N is genuinely different. Thanks for watching, though.

A EV car that mimics a ICE car in order to sell the boring and expensive EV I find it laughably Ironic.
