Over the last ten years, the evidence that we face urgent challenges to protect the environment has become indisputable, and it’s clear that the time to act is now. Drawing inspiration from the concept of moonshots, which since the moon landing in 1969 has become shorthand to talk about the most ambitious and ground-breaking goals, Prince William announced The Earthshot Prize: an ambitious set of challenges to inspire a decade of action to repair the planet.
We believe in the power of human ingenuity to prove to us all that the seemingly impossible is possible.

I love the fact that Prince William is not just a face for this initiative, he is knowledgeable and informed and genuinely cares about what he's involved with. After watching him grow up, he has used his platform for the betterment and support of so many wonderful projects. Earth shot is going to make a difference and his grandfather and father can be so proud!

Stop farmers from growing food for the population, but invest in coral that nobody eats, there’s a winner right there.

I’m a devout organic gardener, have been known to carry others’ thrash off the river/beach or out of the woods, turn off lights, do laundry at odd hours, recycle, etc. But I’m weary of all the bleak predictions, even in spite of most folks doing their best, and I really appreciate such a positive message encouraging us all that it can be done. So thank you Earthshot!
This is how we have to tackle the problems. Instead of waiting for politicians and their empty phrases as well as instead of gluing onself on streets or destroy art.
Go out, find existing solutions and endorsing them. And this applies to every single person.
I already do quite a bit, but this made me realize, that there could be even more things I could incorporate in my day to day life without any sacrifices, I just have to look out for them.
Prince William did great by starting the Earthshot Prize and invovling many knowledgable people and therefore making it a succes. I admire his optimizm and passion and how he always is well informed about every project whilst making the contestant and their solutions shine. This is the kind of leader the world needs to better herself.

I'm really surprised how intelligently William speaks on the issues. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but as a prince he just has to put his stamp of approval on something to call attention to it, but the fact that he knows the topic so in-depth as well is just really cool. I will definitely take away what he said about the enthusiasm on the ground versus the dread in the general public regarding climate change. If you can infuse enthusiasm for your topic, you win half the battle.
Then you have never been to any of the ccharities that the royals are involved in. They do deliver speeches but are also part of developing strategies. They all put a lot of effort ino knowing everything about the charity they are involved with
What a refreshing view and giving us a view on the future with passion and also education! Prince William is growing into some sort of a statesman on his own accord! He's starting to really speak from information, intelligence and a position of being able to help, with sincerity and dedication!
He is a joy to put one’s faith in. I, in the US, knew nothing of this except the name, and I was stupidly conflating it with Invictus, Just brilliant!

The Earthshot Prize has to be the most exciting initiative put into place for everyone around the globe to be involved with. My environmental 'warriors' when growing up where David Attenborough and Jacques Cousteau. I couldn't wait for a documentary to appear on the telly. We need more documentaries like these to awaken the passion I felt in the children of today. I'm so disheartened when seeing the entitlement that so many have today. We need to get the population of the world interested in the beauty the earth has to offer again. So many are living their lives within the confines of their homes, without getting out and witnessing nature. If we can interest more in going out into the environment around us, it can hopefully re-build the passion I felt when younger and still to this day. I'm so encouraged by the Earthshot Prize and seeing those from around the world all getting involved to come up with solutions. Unfortunately, this number is still rather small and we need to interest more into getting involved, even by just donating to the causes we follow. I wish all involved the very best. Thank you Prince William for shinning the light on all of these organisations who are actively involved in looking for answers.🇦🇺🌏

It’s so nice to see our future KING, have a wonderful sense of how the world works and to see his intellect in full bloom!
He’s standing on the shoulders of his grandfather who was warning the world about the environmental effects of our way of living and what the extinction of animal species would have on ecosystems all over the world….in the 1960s (!); and his father, who was roundly ridiculed for his ideas of pesticide-free (organic) farming and the chemical effects on the Earth, among many other environmental concerns he had. I know he acknowledged Prince Philip and King Charles, but their contributions bears repeating!
Ms Blanchett what an amazing interview! Prince William has obviously inherited both his Father's and Grandfather's love of the environment, and is using his love of it to improve things with the Earth shot prize. His commitment to it is applaudable. Well done Prince William. ❤

I love this stubborn optimistic that is our future King. He can open doors and minds that others can't. Such a warm, engaging and genuine man. And all credit to our present King...he was mocked for his views ...now its shown he was ahead of his time. He converted his entire Duchy to organic. On his own estate Highgrove he also Solar electricity . Natural planting to filter waste water. Farming and produce have made it not only financially paying for itself but its also reduced carbon emissions etc. He travels a lot by car when possible. He also had the foresight to invest in windfarm energy and donated the dividend of £250 million he received to the Govt to help those struggling by stocking up foodbanks etc. They do a lot more than shake hands and wave like so many think....the future is brighter I believe with these two modern empathetic Kings😊

Such an inspiring talk, thank you all for making this happen. I fully understand the nerves before the big birth day of this lifetime project conceived with great foresight, courage & optimism as it took form! Tackling this enormous issue is no mean feat, and it’s actually begun so successfully I’ve felt continuously more optimistic for our 🌍 since seeing each individual initiative take shape on the ground. There are SO MANY incredible ideas of people who know exactly what is needed, previously without visibility or funding, getting the support they need to be seen and actually make a difference is more than heartwarming, it feels rather revolutionary. Who else could have garnered the support world wide & for such diversity of projects at once I wonder...

I felt hope the very first time I heard Prince William speak about Earthshot, before that it just felt so impossible to change anything but he is right, there are solutions in existence right now.
Fantastic podcast! Very enlightening. And more than anything else you’ve proven with the Earth shot prizes that climate change does not have one single all encompassing solution. Rather we need 100,000 smaller solutions that are impressive by themselves and help save our beautiful planet. Also compliments to Prince William for his passion, humility and obvious knowledge and investment.
