I keep getting flashbacks of the added scene they had in the 3rd Hobbit film where Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman came to face the Necromancer (Sauron) to save Gandalf... The moment when Rhadagast the Brown was about to drive away on his sleigh with Gandalf and he reached out and grabbed Galadriel by the hand and said, "Come with me my Lady" because he knew the power Sauron had over the Elven Ring that Galadriel had... That moment was just so beautiful for me...
@@anniex3082 I shed a tear when Sir Ian said, "It was like when we went to Middle Earth, which is were we first met." And they both laughed beautifully.
There's a great clip of Ian and Patrick Stewart, I think they're answering web questions, where Ian talks a bit about Gandalf and you can sort of see Gandalf come out in his face for a moment, Patrick comments on it as well
Ian McKellen: "I'm terrified of bees, but as it turns out they're absolutely charming" That might be the single greatest thing I will ever hear someone say on a talkshow. Two of my absolute favorite living actors.
Cate Blanchett is a stunner. And I love her response to Ian recalling being gorgeous at 25. "You still are, Ian." What a quick and genuine response. They're both lovely.
I've seen a number of these Actors on Actors, and this one is the best. It's less like they're interviewing each other, and more like they're just having a friendly chat and giggle.
I love that she still is proud of Rooney for her acting in Carol. For me, it was Rooney’s character that stole the show and she rightfully deserved the Oscar that year, but Cate really manages to embody that classy, upper-class American Carol character. They had such easy chemistry.
Two brilliant artists picking each others brains. This is one of the best interviews on acting I have seen. Everything they talk about is just so reaffirming. Pure genius
I listen to this with headphones and yet I find myself leaning in to 'hear' more because the authenticity manifest in this conversation is endlessly engaging and revealing. This is a mesmerising encounter of mutual respect, interest and talent.

But yes you're right, JLaw is a bigger BO draw bc she's young + bigger celebrity while Cate is older + very private person
I liked that she mentionned the parallel between Blanche Dubois and her character in Blue Jasmine. Woody's denial of it was just ludicrous. And Cate looks so much like Vivien in that movie too.

I'm really enjoying Ian's endearing uneasiness and Cate's warm sarcasm. Even as themselves, we can see so much of the rich texture of their personhood.
Julian Walker, I wholeheartedly agree that Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep are the greatest actresses. However, you simply must add Dames Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, and Helen Mirren. All five are superior.
He has such a lovely way with her. I think they are both underselling eachother because they are tremendous actors. But through their humbleness they feel they are never good enough. It's a good thing it's to others to really see how good they are.
