Infinite patience is needed to overcome adversity, says Mohd Azharuddin, ex Indian captain.

  • Fate is something that nobody can escape from, Azharuddin tells W V Raman on episode 6 of #InsideOutwithWVRaman. He expressed this sentiment while talking about the loss of his son and how completely devastating it was to lose him. He also insists on learning and listening to people more in their quest to learn and improve. #Cricket fans loved Mohd Azharuddin for his #artistry but this episode will make you understand the man behind the #cricketer.
The incident about the assistant producer was a figment of imagination and a mild exaggeration to wind Azharuddin up and therefore, it should viewed only as a prank, as the intent was not to malign, insult either the organisation mentioned or the personnel who worked for that organisation at that specified time.

Azhar knows how to bring out the best what is in each player....He knows how to win a match ( especially Finals ) with limited resources...He knows how to use a player according to the course of the Match - This is true captaincy...Remember he became the captain in 1990...Those days Indian Team was not very strong...Infact Australia, Pakistan , South Africa and West Indies were at the top and India just remained as an average Team.No legends in the team ( Except Sachin )...But Azhar proved that he can win a match with prevailing resources and he was so successful. Remember He won 10 Finals in his career...Our new generation are not bother about it..They just concern with winning,,,how India wins is the big concern.
Moreover Ganguly's and Dhonis's teams deserve to be at top
According to me , The Year 2000 - 2012 , India maintained a very good TEAM...Remember, During this time India was blessed with the legends like Sachin, Sehwag, Ganguly , Dravid , Yuvraj ,Gambhir , Kohli, Dhoni...and there is a clear cut formula to win a game . First , Sachin - Sehwag - Ganguly make a flying start...Dravid - Kohli - Gambhir maintain the runrate in the middle overs then finally Youvraj- Dhoni - Raina end the innings with a huge total.Remember India produced lots of wins because of strong batting line up. INdian bowlers were not contributing much where a captain has to learn how to use the bowlers. In this regard captains are just counted among the batsmen.or just counted among the team or the one who represents the team and lifts the cup
There comes Mohammad Azharuddin ,who never had a series of legends like this. But still managed to win lots of matches including 10 tournaments. The new generation should analyse how an average team could win against the other best teams in the world. Remember those days the way he used the bowlers where a captain can do a lot . and he did it.
Again , Let us take the example of Sachin,
He came into team in 1989. He took 5 years to make his first century and he was a middle order batsmen during his initial years. Azhar promoted him to the opener place and then he started playing long innings and centuries. sachin became SACHIN when he became an opener.
So we can rightly conclude that AZHAR WAS THE BEST CAPTAIN FOR INDIAN TEAM AND GANGULY AND DHONI WERE THE CAPTAINS OF THE BEST INDIAN TEAM.
"How India win" , gives right answer of the role of a captain.

Nice interview Raman Sir. Would've loved to have had questions about Azhar's quick scoring abilities like his 62 ball odi 100 in 1988, his thrashing of Lance Klusener for 5 consecutive boundaries in Eden, he is the actual inventor of helicopter shot, etc. Azhar was a great trendsetter even during those days. I'm a big fan of Azharuddin. Please try to do one more detailed interview with Azhar.

Raman, great to listen to Azar, who was admired by everybody and anybody for his casual and easy way of batting. To eloborate this in Jeffery Boycots style, even my grandmaa would have carried a feeling that cricket is such a simple game that she can go straight and play an international game after watching him. It was intresting to know the intervention of Zaheer Abbas, an opposition team mate, suggesting the change in grip during the course of an important series which Azar implemented. Nice to hear about Buchi Babu tournament which we use to watch with inquisitiveness. Overall splendid.

No interruption / cross questions though you have played at the same level as the interviewee , you don't show off. I had the privilege of receiving an award from you sometime in 93 - 94 when you were the chief guest on the occasion of annual day of the cricket club that I play for in C.P.Art center at Alwarpet. That was a defining series for Azhar......182 against england in 1993 redefined him. 1993 to 1998 Azhar gained superstardom.1999 was bad....regained form in early 2000...alas it did not last.
