  • I find the clunking on Jimmy's Vauxhall van. I tried a deep ring spanner but there's not enough room so I made my own tool. Remember, I didn't need to show this but we can all forget something.I also have a tinker about in the Log Cabin. The clear sheet I use for the sandblasting screen www.lloydpaton.co.uk/shot_bla...

You can always tell a good mechanic because he always has the right tool he needs, no matter what. I say that, because if you need something you always make it. Seems to work out every time. Looks like that powder coating oven is working out pretty good, comes in handy for other stuff too.

Good way to overcome the problem. You can buy a complete socket set that has the ratchet, and all the extensions with holes down the centre just for jobs like that, they are also handy for running nuts down long studs as well. The sockets also have larger holes down the centre also.

Martin, I have the exact same blaster cabinet. And I used to change those clear plastic sheets that way until I changed the setup. I used threaded screws from the inside and brass knurled nuts on the outside so I can simply remove the black plastic frame. That allows me to remove the glass so easy and wash it and install a new clear plastic sheet. The threaded screws are tightened in place with nuts while long enough to allow the plastic frame to be removed, via the knurled brass nuts. Makes life so much easier... Just an idea. Thumbs Up

    Hi Martin
I have been an avid follower of yours for many years..and this is my first comment. We as viewers are very lucky to have you teach us..inspire us and motivate us to do things ourselves or at least try to. Please dont get this the wrong way and i am honestly saying this from the heart..because i have experienced this in my own family. My sister passed away at 51.. obesity is a real killer. Both you and Sharon are lovable and the best hearted people i have seen on youtube. I really am serious when i say..you both have to look after yourselves. Weight issues are responsible for so many deaths directly or indirectly. You both owe it to your family and grand kids to try and set an example for them. We all love food and i bet you both have had weight issues most of your lives. Its in these years mid 50's when things start to creep up on you. You know deep in your hearts that you need to lose weight and get fitter. We all dont want anything to happen to you both especially your family. Jimmy is the only one who doesnt seem to have a weight issue. Many of us who watch you i am sure are thinking the same but dare not say anything..not me..those that truly care should say something because your subscribers are subscribers because we adore you guys.

Thanks for your comment Dom. It is something I am very aware of. I have been fit my whole life bud and actually qualified as a Teacher of fitness training many years ago. Up until the age of 41 I ran and did weights since the age of 16. I am fully aware of diet and fitness and will be sorting this out but life gets in the way and we are not getting any younger either. I know all about diet and the crap food we are fooled into thinking is healthy but life has ups and downs and we all sometimes go to excess and some people don't know what's happening but I do. Finding a life balance is the key and I'm still finding mine.

Seeing you pottering around tackling all sorts of work with so much intelligence and enthusiasm is infectious. I just speak from the heart .. like u do...i never wanted to offend you or your lovely wife at all..i sincerely want the best for you both. You mean alot to many people that follow you. The knowledge you possess is astounding. I dont think there is anything you cant fix...given the right tools..you are better than many qualified tradies. No one is as methodical or as fussy as you. This is a true mark of a professional in any scope of work. I truly salute you and your lovely family. Knowing you..whatever health kick or diet scheme you decide to go with..whenever... it will be part of another playlist of yours. You are an inspiration to all of us!!!

Hi Good Sir, It's Mervyn here, the Austin 1100 Man flu restoration pictures! I need to pick your brains. I have to do a cylinder head gasket job and then set the timing. Some videos set the tappets at .03 for both intake and exhaust but old school say Intake at 10 and exhaust 12. I know the mini and 1100 are similar but I guess the guy that said .03 for all, was the A+ engine. Not sure and the setting is important. Hope you can help. I had a big argument with a traffic old bill couple years ago on me Vespa and he was moaning about not wearing leathers and not having visibility clothing on... my crash helmet being a nice reflective dayglo orange obv he musta missed and it got a leetle heated cos having a giant orange ball is just so ignorable and he then tried to do me on missing e numbers on the visor, right jobsworth :( As for leathers, if I wanted to dress like Freddie Mercury, I would be riding one of them crotch rockets and told the old bill that too lolol
