At one point the hype for this character was through the roof!
Then things took a sudden turn throughout the series!
I can honestly say I loved this character at one point but not anymore...

Goku Black turning out to be Zamasu kinda took the oomph out of his coolness. Zamasu having a disdain for mortals and their actions is a good concept, but he was flat.

Facts, I think Zamasu could've easily just be the next villain while Goku Black would be his own thing. That way, both arcs (Especially Zamasu) would be more fleshed out

It should've been a Plot Twist that Black was never Goku to begin with but Goten. Gokus lack of parenting would finally be lff consequence. Zamasu could have been Goten Blacks teacher
After that arc Goku would definitely put more attention on Goten and raise him better

your idea of him being a soulles chel sounds interesting (with a Kaioshin or Demon being responsebile cause he think that mortal are the biggest problem and uses Boo as exemple and other monsters of the past like the saiyans or Freeza or just want to kill those who are a probleme in his eyes, like not killing the namekins for exemple), but I also liked the idea of Gohan black (would have made way more sense)

I never likes the Zamasu arc for to its boring villains and confusing plot .
Sort of unrelated to the writing, but I prefer the sub voice for Goku Black. Masako really turns the menacing tone up to a legitimately scary level, but I think Sean is a better regular Goku voice.

The erasure of Trunks’ timeline is also garbage. Some try to justify the ending saying “not everyone has a happy ending”. But really feels like writers brought back Trunks just to give a big “fuck you” to his accomplishments. He would have been better off not being reintroduced for a new arc and left his story the way it was.
Also, wtf is even Trunks’ form: Super Saiyan Rage???? Never explained of course lol

Flat, bland, and boring sums up the entirety of DB Super. It was a paycheck for Toriyama. The tournament arc, the best arc of the series, was essentially fanservice. And fanfiction. Dragonball really should've ended where Toriyama originally intended it to, at the end of the Cell saga.
The Cell Saga would of been a perfect end but the Buu Arc did Developed Vegeta's Character more

Preach. Though IMO The entire Zamasu saga was straight ass. From start to finish. The idea of an evil Goku is so fanfiction it's laughable. It's almost like Akira couldn't think of anything for the next saga after the U6 tournament and went on RUclips. Saw TheRedHeadHenry's Evil Goku series and was like "Yeah, I can do much worse." TheRedHeadHenry's evil Goku is such a fascinating character and a really cool twisted mirror into Goku's entire character. And his character growth from Goku vs Evil Goku 1 to Goku vs Z was just remarkable.
And in the end Akira gave us a bland uninteresting meat suit for a god complex god named Zamasu who doesn't shut up about how bad mortals are and yet is using a mortal's body to carry out his plans. The story is 1 dimensional, the tension is non existent because we know Goku is gonna win due to this taking place before the end of Z. And don't get me fucking started on the Zeno button. I can't understand why anyone sees this as any good but hey, it is what it is. Zamasu Goku was a terrible evil Goku and if Akira plans on doing an Evil Goku arc again just hire TheRedHeadHenry and let him deal with it.

The way Zamasu viewed it, he chose the body of a powerful mortal because they had power he lacked and to punish the mortals with their own potential. It’s like killing your foe with their own weapon and then proceeded to kill their friends and family with that same weapon just because you hated them that much.

I love Goku Black because his outfit is literally a mix of Goku’s and the Kai Outfit. I also love Rosè and the way that he fights.
All I can say is Goku Black is basically Hell Fighter 17 and Zamasu is just GT Android 17.

Nah, you right: Zamasu's motivation is not a very wise one, dare I say pointless: destroying things because he doesn't like things that destroy things... Couldn't wait for the whole saga to be over. I never said this before about anyone , but I was glad when they finally killed him, and Beerus made it look cool
The whole last part of the Goku Black-arc was completely unnecessary and utter bullshit. Goku had this button to call Zeno so that made anything and everything useless and there was no tension anymore. But the worst thing about that is, when Zeno shows up and just erases Trunks' timeline. Like, wtf? What did they fight for in this arc and the Cell arc in DBZ? They made Trunks' character development and everything else from Z pointless...

The idea of a corrupted kai is interesting. A god that’s meant to protect and watch over the mortals of the earth questioning why they should care and wipe them out does have potential but was executed poorly. Still got good fight scenes out of this arch. My personal favorite was both fusions fighting and the speech of vegeta while beating goku black into the dirt was one of my favorite parts of this arch. Explaining why goku as a saiyan warrior to black was so good. Especially in the dubbed version in my opinion.
They should have saved Zamasu for another arc and stuck with Goku Black being a version of Goku who never hit his head.
And yet people will say Goku black was a better villain than Baby

I always liked Goku Black. He's got drip and cool abilities. I like that he feels bitter about the mortals senselessly killing each other, but unfortunately for the most part, zamasu is just a racist. I also like that Goku's saiyan DNA affects Black's mind, giving him a joy for battle.
If thay just had the seam goal for zumasu and somehow he corrupt goku with some dark magic and then slowly goku black remember who he is

What they did to future trunks and the ending makes this the worst arc in the whole series,arguably the whole franchise
I actually loved the Goku Black/Zamasu Saga. The reasons why I love the Goku Black/Zamasu Saga include:
1. The powers and unique powers that Goku Black used like Super Saiyan Rose and the ki blades and the ki scythe and the Zamasu with immortaility and the fused Zamasu having things like the blades of judgment and the absolute lightning and the bird thing behind him and all of that cool stuff.
2. I liked how Zamasu's mindset progressed throughout the Arc.
3. I also liked how the people who are killed by Zamasu can not be brought back because there is no Dragon Balls in Trunk's future, so those deaths are real deaths, and if you cannot take away anything else from the Goku Black/Zamasu Saga take that from it.
4. I love how Zamasu actually won. I know that Zamasu got erased by Zeno and so he did not win overall, but in that moment before Zeno he killed everyone aside from Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Future Mai, the Kais, and Bulma, so he got what he wanted. It was like he lost the battle, but he lost the war. And I was ok with that. I love how Zamasu won because it was different and gave you a surprise and change where the villain actually won aside from the regular. "The hero always wins BS."
Those are the reasons why I like the Goku Black/Zamasu Arc.

Because he wanted to kill the mortals with his own hands or well, with their own hands as Goku Black. Erasing mortals while the Gods still remain to get in the way would also be a problem; he killed the gods first so they wouldn’t interfere (because the rest would be busy cleaning up his mess by trying to make new Kais and getting new Destroyers to replace the fallen ones) and even if he wished the gods away, the angels, the Grand Priest and Zeno wouldn’t count as “gods” and more Kais could be created later.
He wanted to exact divine justice by his own hands....
This isn't even that hard to piece together.

The point where this arc lost me was when Goku Black and Zamusu were together and I really thought they were building to Goku Black saying "I haven't taken him over yet" meaning Zamasu was his past self who was going to take over Goku's body like Captain Ginyu, like that would have been one hell of a reveal. Sigh.

I honestly didn't have a problem with Goku Black, even if he turned out to be Zamasu. In many ways, Zamasu is the antithesis of Goku, so him being Goku Black does make an evil Goku without having to turn Goku evil. Even Zamasu's motivations as terrible as they are, do make sense as we've seen some deities like Kibito heavily underestimate mortal beings. Zamasu's obsession with Goku all stems from Goku defeating him in battle, which wouldn't have happened in the manga continuity if Goku Black hadn't gone back in time to start the temporal loop. When Zamasu stole Goku's body, he retains his god complex, but you see him subtly influenced by the saiyan nature of Goku's body, which creates Goku Black. Just enough of Zamasu to be in sync with his alternate future self, but with enough of Goku to actually come across as an evil version of Goku. Overall, Goku Black is the version of Zamasu that I hate the least, and I mainly hate Zamasu because of the terrible things he did, which makes him a good villain, even if the Goku Black arc has problems, especially at the end.
I get your points. I think people were disappointed because its kind of a cop out to explain how Goku could ever be evil. Plus its like the writers in Super went out of their way to make Goku as innocent as possible. Zamasu is one of the most interesting characters in all of DB imo. Its just the writers kind of fumbled on power scaling and writing a decent ending for it.

Goten being Goku black would have been a better story. I know it's a hot take but I think it would be a better dynamic with Trunks and Goku. And it would give Goten something out of the series instead of just sidekick or little Goku

We've seen evil goku numerous times, tree of might, Captain ginyu changing bodies. Its repetitive , the db universe is vast and this is all they can think of? It also copies the android saga. Its another time travel story. Is future trunks gonna continue coming back to the past? How many times does future earth become post apocalyptic?

The Goku Black arc was the first arc of Super that made sense. I'm just watching this show for the first time and I'm extremely disappointed. I loved the idea of Evil Goku, but I knew he was Zamasu already, so it ruined any hype. I LIKE the idea of an Evil Kai going so far as to take Goku's body, but Goku Black BEING Zamasu...was garbage writing, and they know it. Imagine if Goku Black was actually Goku because Zamasu WISHED for Goku's pure heart to be corrupted? THEN, THIS Goku would explain how the first thing he did was kill Chi Chi and Goten. Then, he would hunt down Goku's friends one by one. His Super Saiyan Rose could still be a thing because he simply never had to go SSJ to fight anyone, and so when he met the warriors from the past, he recalls his Saiyan pride and lust for battle and transforms. Combined with the evil energy of Zamasu, his hair turns pink and his aura is black. Super Saiyan Rose would then be considered the Super Saiyan God form of Goku Black instead of simple Super Saiyan. It would make a lot more sense to have an evil Goku who just hates all life, combined with a lust for battle. Then he would WANT to kill all of Goku's friends in the past because he revels at the chance to kill them again. I mean ANYTHING but a body swap.

Goku black could be future goku from Trunks's timeline who got resurrected like this to destroy the world he once protected. Imagine how impactful it would be when future goku's death from the heart virus not only caused a chain reaction of catastrophes but also it allowed his soul to be corrupted when he got purified in the afterlife without his body. Some entity or other world shenanigans caused goku to return but this time with a corrupted soul & mind.
Can we all agree that super saiyan Rose is also such a terrible transformation? It comes out of nowhere, and is far more powerful than everything BOTH goku and vegeta worked their entire lives for! Like seriously, Vegeta had a fantastic point in that fight. Zamasu may have Goku's power, but he doesn't truely grasp it, he didn't earn nor even make any of that. He just took it. And yet it just decimates everyone's hard work. Also it's for some reason exclusive to him. He should've just stayed at super-sayian. And he should've also wished for immortality. Have this evil Goku go and kill the other gods because he feels like he deserves to be the one god of the multiverse. Power-hungry beyond even Frieza, a great contrast to the Goku that we all know. Literally just remove Zamasu out of the picture, but keep his plans and actions, and we would have a much better arc.
Wasted opportunity, I think what you described with Trunks seeing Evil Goku and waking up to seeing our Goku is awesome but I just don’t think Evil Goku makes sense in the future timeline. In the future, Goku died as a hero, so bringing him back as a villain there breaks my suspension of disbelief twice over.
I want to see an Evil Goku, but like this it’s just stupid.

@@GreatExpectations787let me explain zamasu's ideology, he used to be a kaio from universe 10, observing the stars and planets but many of them were destroyed in an endless cycle of wars caused by intelligent living things called human, this situation was horrifying for zamasu for hundreds of years (he is more than 700 years old), until one day that he was selected by Gowasu to become the new supreme Kai thanks to being a prodigy in fighting and pure hearted however he had many doubts toward the mortals, so Gowasu tried to guide him however after an horrible guidance by Gowasu trying to convince zamasu about balance between good and evil, zamasu came to a new believe we're mortals were evil and he had to destroy mortals. One day after Goku challenged him and humiliated him he decided to start his zero mortals plan obtaining Goku's body because his own body was limited exploiting Goku's potential with his intelligence and experience in battle traveling to another timeline to make real his plans with no obstacles.
This is his ideology/backstory. One thing I want to say is that I like Goku black a lot more than Turles, because he is so different to a saiyan he is not savage he is elegant as zamasu but now with that body enjoys obtaining power as Goku and Vegeta without forgetting his goals. I also like that his not pure evil, he has emotions we can see zamasu happy, angry, crying...
