Mate Fantastic. Love the old crossings in Newcastle. Clyde crossing shows the old Brambles Transport warehouse on one side and the old Gas Works offices on the other.
When I was in Australia in 2000, my aunt lived in Bowral and my cousins in Sydney, so I used the Campbeltown - Bowral train many times, so I crossed many times at the Douglas Park station junction. In 2015 I passed several through Corrimal when I was traveling to Wollongong 😃😃😃
Hi Phil, interesting video. I wasn't aware of these level crossings near Sydney. We have plenty of level crossings here in Melbourne, though they are now removing many of them bit by bit. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
I live just a block away from Hamilton station and it is a rare occurrence for a train other than that orange one to go through that crossing. Also, cargo trains will never cross there
If I can remember correctly, there is an unused gated level crossing signal sitting on the side of the train tracks somewhere near Petersham station in Sydney.
I'm curious, do the individual railways have their own standards on bell operation at gated crossings? Seems like a mix of some where all bells ring continuously through the train event. Some have one bell that operates through while the other shuts off at gate down. The most unique one to me was East Richmond though, where the bells rang while the stopped train was just adjcent to the crossing and then turned off (less the ped alarm) after the train fouled the roadway. Makes me wonder if it's railway practice, or up to each maintainer's preferences.
What crappy train horns you have in NSW. Phil you should come down to Melbourne & vlog some of our trains. Our train drivers are very horn happy in Victoria. Great video as always. 👍👍
So many level crossings, but where were the ones at Faulconbridge Station, Parramatta Road Granville, or even the Royal National Park tramway crossing at Loftus?
I’m pretty sure that the guy didn’t have enough time to film all of those, considering how far Loftus is from Sydney, Parramatta road, Granville no longer exists.
Mate, you did really well to not witness any misdemeanours. Maybe your presence with camera made drivers / pedestrians behave lawfully. Crossings at Bellambi and Corrimal are often in the news with near misses and unfortunately more serious events. One observation, drivers are good at giving a horn blast but perhaps they should be consistent with the duration.
What I have noticed is that most of the trains in this episode are virtually devoid of any passengers. Does anybody use the system at all. Seems crazy to run 8 car sets when the trains are empty.

The Richmond line is the biggest piece of shit ever constructed. Single track bullshit which chokes up the whole line when a train is late almost always getting into Riverstone from either direction.
