Jim Brown has been relevant for over 50 years because he speaks volumes of truth. A lot of athletes don't want to be activists because they're too worried about they're career and money!
I have been reading Jim's book; "Out of Bounds," which was published several years ago, but what he talks about in the book is still very relevant today in life and in football. I would urge any fan of Jim's to read it. He is a class act.
I thank God that I have had the chance to know and work with the legendary Jim Brown. It is shameful that many young Black Athletes of today have ignored his message, legacy and contribution. They are pre-occupied with $ and fame; History will ignore them for that..
What Mr. Brown said from 0:50 to 1:25 is so deep. This is a great man. Every Black rookie in the three major sports should have to watch these videos as part of their rookie orientation.
great man..im a white fella, who when i was a boy, watched the cleveland browns because of jim brown. He was such a tough man, never gave in ,never gave up and its apparent when you listen to this interview. Thanks Jim Brown for the memories and your wise words!
Was born in 58 so don't really remember him playing, but my earliest memories of the NFL people would talk about 3 players that was either just retired or was still playing, a little about Bart Starr, a little more about Johnny Unitas, but mostly the greatest Jim Brown ! They would always say he will be legendary one day !
Wow, that was powerful. Made my eyes a bit foggy at the end. If more of us thought this way, we would be much better off. Thanks for all you have done and do Mr. Brown (excuse me, I mean, 'JB')!
Mr.Brown is right.Any person, particularly black at that time who they feel was getting to popular, powerful, outspoken and had the power to gravitate people was deemed a threat to the government. Many times in the case of Martin Luther king Jr and Malcolm X they were killed. Jim Brown was one of a kind.
Wow, wow man! I will be 53 in a few months and I'm watching this interview and thinking. When I grow up I want to be just like Jim Brown. Wow! My wife isn't of African decent and she asked me why you don't see people like Mr Brown fighting against racism. All I could tell her is if you are seen as a threat to the establishment, in the old days they would kill you. Now they will discredit you in some way. Mr Brown has weathered the storm and is still standing. Wow dude! What a man. A true man.
Jim Brown is not a perfect human being (nor has he claimed to be), he may not even be a role model (nor has he claimed to be). But Jim Brown makes sense, Jim Brown has been CONTINUALLY proven right in his statements. And as a white male, that's why I respect Jim Brown...and agree with him.
This is a Great Man who speaks Great Things. Through Exposure, Experience, and Excellence came forth Sound Wisdom!! Jim Brown: "A Great Man;"...."A Great Human Being!!" Pledz Hardaway Jr.
Great point JB makes. Saddly, sports leagues want to only pay their respects to its starts after they die. The NFL should have retired his number years ago for the real community involvement JB does. I like the way he wants to go out...no "who can be seen in the front seats" or any of that fake stuff. JB should be honored now...not when he is gone. The great American of our times!
Jim Brown obviously spent his time at Syracuse doing more than playing football or LaCross at both of which he was an All American. Jim Brown was and remains a warrior. His using women as punching bags was an unfortunate side effect of his aggression, but his clear eyed refusal to sell out is as impressive as his football ability.
Jesse Owen said it best when talking about the U. S. vs Nazi Germany conflict following his Four Golds in the Berlin Olynpics - at least Hitler (as opposed to superlib FDR) would shake my hand.
And to think, George W. Bush was president. Mr. Jim Brown would run intellectual circles around former president George W. Bush. He'd run circles around him.
It's only common sense any black man can have it....only if they used it. That's what Jim Brown would like to see more black people having is common sense. Think on the same level that he thinks on. Your parents have to teach you that. Common Sense ain't common these days.
Hell yeah. Each one teach one. Black people are getting in trouble for the same old shit. You're supposed to learn from others if you see your family members fucking up like some of mine have you say.."Oh shit! I better not do that or I'm going to be locked up too!" Drug Dealing, crime, etc. The pattern has to be broken is what I'm saying. If you see someone fall in the hole, don't you fall in the hole too. That's common sense. Walk away from the hole. Learn from what you see.
He says culture what we all know what he really means is race.... because if your American you have no culture or that's what the American government makes by saying all races and religions are equal in the states ... I'm here because I was watching Richard Pryor do the Jim brown stand up part which is hilarious.. Pryor was also before his time in a country that especially then had clear segregation... trying to watch Hollywood lives about him brown there's part 1 and 3 but no part 2...maybe it's the bit about Richard Pryor (what ya gonna do)...
Jim, sorry but although you are making perfect sense, you are thinking by way of your I'd, to use a construct. What that leaves you with is an achievable end with a destructive result, which is the result anytime your premise is unfounded. So the black man ends up with the ability to perpetuate his race?? where does that fit in with the greater good?? I'm assuming that you are a believer in Muslim teachings to some degree, perhaps dedicated. Maybe you are not shooting high enough. if societal unity is by necessity eliminated in the equation. Anyway Jim, if you believe in the greatest good, which I believe you do, or you would never have visited Trump , we need your influence desperately RIGHT NOW if you can see it and avail yourself. These riots are conducted by young followers, for whom perpetuation will never happen, because they are so poorly educated. For all intensive purposes, they are like animals, relatively speaking. TRAITOROUS, MAXINE WATERS, BIGGEST HYPOCRITE IN CONGRESS, figure she'll provoke some hatred in the rioters, to scare the result she wants in two days. If you could try to turn down the temperature, your country will forever remember you as a true social warrior, not just an athlete. Long time admirer.

Really good book.
A Real MAN. A dying breed.
I thank God that I have had the chance to know and work with the legendary Jim Brown. It is shameful that many young Black Athletes of today have ignored his message, legacy and contribution. They are pre-occupied with $ and fame; History will ignore them for that..

Real talk....
WOW ! Now there a powerful blackman that black sports people should copy ! Well spoke Jim Brown !!!
Jim Brown has, it seems to me, always exemplified greatness!
I agree with you about death and funerals! Same for me, and I felt that way, since childhood. Your words will last forever!
My father and Uncle say you were the best Mr. Brown. Love the "act like you`ve been there before" td thing. You`re quite a guy. Doug O`Connor
Greatest athlete ever.... Bar None!
Todays athletes black or white need to take his words to heart.
This man is Phenomenal ! Much love to Mr. Brown
Now that is a man.
Mr.Brown is right.Any person, particularly black at that time who they feel was getting to popular, powerful, outspoken and had the power to gravitate people was deemed a threat to the government. this is the type of black man that you dont hear about.

This is a real human, REAL MAN, what happen to the so call men of today,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ONELOVE.
This man is deep on so many levels that the commissioner should make it mandatory for players to listen to what he has to say.
Happy
R.I.P.
Did Brown say when he dies he's "going to do a paper" ? That's interesting because I'm not sure what he meant by that ... Did I hear that wrong?
Jim talks the truth!
Jim Brown obviously spent his time at Syracuse doing more than playing football or LaCross at both of which he was an All American. Jim Brown was and remains a warrior. Was he ever convicted?
Very smart man

He'd run circles around him.
he just said he is relvant to the youth and enjoys speaking to them! are you deaf sir?
@RonyMexico true, it just takes time being hostile is not the answer to everything.
Every Rookie Period. Color doesn't matter.
I've long believed that Brown would've been a special politician, if he'd chosen to pursue that avenue and if he'd had the interest..
lol amen.
Judge Joe Brown and Jim Brown have same voice
everything true
WTF? only if they used it?
It's only common sense any black man can have it....only if they used it. That's what Jim Brown would like to see more black people having is common sense. Think on the same level that he thinks on. Your parents have to teach you that. Common Sense ain't common these days.
