Had this man not been a football player for all to appreciate, I would really like to have seen what would have happened had he had the desire and educational background to actively pursue public office. He's exceptionally bright and well-spoken. He would have made a great civil servant at the higher levels.
Yes he was. I seen Jim again at his daughter home going service. Jim daughter ask personal for us to sing at her service when that time were to go. We talk a while and also Jim receive a copy of our songs. His memory will continue to live on. There is a young one coming up that will run in his name. Human spirit. JIM BROWN. GREATEST.
"I paid my dam taxes and I wanted my dam rights" ... i like it...simple and to the point. This dude is old school and is all about class, respect, education.... rock on, JB....ROCK ON!
Having benefited from his AmerICan basketball program, I have nothing but rave reviews of this man. He is honest, cared about each of us individually and gave us solutions to problems rather than judgement. It's refreshing to see genuinely good people still walk this earth.
MISTER Brown, Thank you for the American attitude. Thank you for the example. Mr. Bensinger, Simply un-believable how you elicited this portrait of The Brown. Thanks to you both, you're quite a team. :^)
So impressive! This guy was an awesome football palyer, I saw him every Sunday in the sixties and NO ONE comes close. I saw him standing in the lobby of the Hyatt in Chicago, a really BIG man. I wished I had gone up to him and asked for his autograph.
bensinger seems like a relaly cool guy to sit down with, i've seen him do interviews with boxers too and he seemed like he really cared about learning from them.
Beautiful. I have met Jim Brown several times, and he always treated me with kindness, humility, and a big heart. Thank you, sir. GOD BLESS YOU, BROTHER.
I was reading the book Jim Brown and this guy ask who is he? I said Who is he?? Who are you??!! this man is the greatest back in the history of the back. No one else have show how to be a real man than Jim. I wonder why most young people don't know him....
I first knew him as a movie star, that was when I was young in Africa, after I moved to United States I discovered he actually made his name in football, he was also equally good in basketball, Lacrosse, and track (Wikipedia), I love this guy, he is multi talented, yet he never forgets where he started from, he is always willing to help people who are struggling, trying to bring down violence in black community, he is 75 yrs old and a role model to all of us.
funkmaster, if you have heard other interviews he has done he doesnt just speak on african american slavery, he talks about the LONG history of slavery. from the irish to the african americans. hes just tryin to show the young people the contrast between then and now. LONG LIVE THE GREATEST!!!!
Dude is a legend. He is just old school and naturally still believes he is in his time. Look at how people used to see football when it began to become popular; they thought it was savagery.
Jim Bown is a person I have always looked up to. He was the best of the best when football was still a real sport. If he was a youngster in this age he would still be the best of the best. Jim Brown then got into acting and again he mastered whatever he did. In the movie "The Dirty Dozen," stood out like a veteran actor. Mr. Brown spoke out often concerning race relations and didn't shy away from controversial subject. In sports, I was a running back and the only number I wanted was 32. Now I am 61, and I still look up the Mr. Brown. At times I don't agree with him but I know this much he is given every subject a fair shake. Jim Brown Played for Syracuse university. Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little all wore the number 44 (as well as other decent running backs.). This number was retired in November of 2005. If you look at the Syracuse Jerseys From 2005 and beyond all the football jerseys pay tribute to this number. The jersey numbers have angled lines with in the number itself. The lines run parallel with each other and the angle of these paralleled numbers are at a perfect 44 degree angle. Mr. Brown deserves all the accolades he gets. He is a person of virtue, decency and character. I love Jim Brown and pray that more people follow his example of how to live and not what's coming out of professional ball now. I'm not saying this man is perfect but he is a man that exemplifies the qualities and character of what I think is important for men to follow. Thank you Jim Brown.
jim brown, john wayne, muhammed ali, clint eastwood, george formen and ppl like these might not have been angels but they sure as hell were real men, back in the days wen america was known for haveing men
We are just having a discussion, its cool. I really wasn't trying to attack Jim Brown, the adversity he has overcome in his lifetime is inspirational to a person of any race. It just struck a nerve when slavery gets brought into a conversation about NFL players who make millions of dollars and live these ridicious lifestyles. I wasn't trying to put words in his mouth, but I guess I should have listened to more of the interview before posting a comment. Jim Brown is the man, Go Browns!
Jim Brown was even better at lacrosse than football - lacrosse being his favorite sport, by far. There is a 'Jim Brown Rule' in lacrosse b/c of his dominance. He said if he had a week of sports he'd spend 6 days playing lacrosse, and play football on Sunday.
Very true anyone has the right to feel however they wish but not all white people had relatives that owned slaves and every human being wants to be judged individually and not as a race or based on their ancestors actions. 120 years is a very short amount of time historically and I think we've made a great deal of progress since the days of slavery. Obama being elected as president when most registered voters are white is a pretty big sign of improvement and hopefully things continue improving.
@Footsniffer51 I am white and respect all black people and people of all other races, don't think that all of us think this way. Some of my best firends are black.
Jim brown....Ernie Davis....Floyd Little....Simply the best running backs ever to live.....if all of them were to take a picture togerther... i would hang it up in my room and never take it down....lol i just finished watching the express
she actually fell and he wasnt charged and the other incident was a aurgument with his present wife which happen to anybody. come up with something better than that why dont you buy his dvd then you will know the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@CobainLennon8094 thanks Cobain, I will checkout this video, I have also read his autobiography, "out of bounds", also written by him, the most interesting autobiography I have ever read, there was never a dull moment on each page, he was ruthlessly honest about his life, and I know this video will be good also because there is never a dull moment in the life of Jim Brown.
Brown is telling the truth, cause many athletes today are like that, but everyone isnt.I mean if i was to run a touchdown and did a little dance lol,i would be doin it cause im happy, not b/c im arrogant or trying to act a fool
dont get me wrong, I admire this man for his amazing play on the field (the best RB i've ever seen footage of), and for the things he's says on here...but I wonder if this is he way of thinking...humble, humility, being a good role model, why did he pose for Playgirl? just wondering what made him want to do that.
so much of history is about what white people did and had to say about black people and now that this black man wants to comment about his own people you are offended...give me a break. If a white man said what Jim Brown has said I as a black man would have the utmost respect for his perspective on history.
@viokand The greatest Lacrosse player that ever lived! He was one special human. You should check out the movie "Jim Brown All American" It's a documentary by Spike Lee. The only SL movie I like. It's really well made his HS coach and teamates talk. If you're interested in Jim it's a must watch. I netflixed it and watched it 6 times.
Jim Brown was one of the greatest football players ever & a very intelligent, thoughtful man. But I refuse to see a guy with a long history of beating women as a moral authority.
@brian poole doesn't know enough for his opinion to have any merit, also the march of history has passed him by,sorry. For anyone who does not understand where Jim Brown is coming from, do us all a favor and learn about what his history is. It is a real Historic tale of America. Jim Brown was a great n.f.l. player, maybe the best, but he is so much more.
Jim Brown hits the nail on the head. Today's NFL is a JOKE!..It's boring and stale. During the 70's,80's & 90's, I used to wait in anticipation and excitement waiting for the NFL to kickoff, now I could care less because everything about the teams, rules, uniforms, stadiums suck! Today most teams sport tacky black cleats with black tape and black socks WHAT?..Gosh they look like shit. And some uniforms look awful YUCK! Even the NFL logo or symbol looks like a seseme street design.
see people like you should not be commenting on things of which u know nothing about it was not a hotel room it was his home(apt) at the time he did not throw her off she jump off he never attack his wife he bust the windows in his car she got scared and call the police. know the facts before you judge.
Jim Brown has some great points about show boating and potential reinforcement of stereotypes with black atheletes. However I think he is completely off by compare playing in the NFL to being a slave. Its an honor to be a player in the NFL and only the most elite of atheletes can reach that point. The difference is majority of the spectators would like to be on that field too and see these guys as almost godlike. The degrading entertainment hes ref'erring to sounds more like "Bum Fights".
If more people thought this way, society would be a hell of a lot better place. Jim Brown is strength and integrity at its absolute finest.
Had this man not been a football player for all to appreciate, I would really like to have seen what would have happened had he had the desire and educational background to actively pursue public office. He's exceptionally bright and well-spoken. He would have made a great civil servant at the higher levels.
Jim Brown, the best running back in NFL history! Nuff said.
Yes he was. I seen Jim again at his daughter home going service. Jim daughter ask personal for us to sing at her service when that time were to go. We talk a while and also Jim receive a copy of our songs. His memory will continue to live on. There is a young one coming up that will run in his name. Human spirit. JIM BROWN. GREATEST.
love live this man! what a power house, on the field and in an interview!
guy was the best football player of all time. the biggest, strongest, and fastest player on the field in his day. no one dominated like this guy
WAS HE THAT GOOD BECAUSE OF HIS SKIN COLOR.......OR IS A BLACK A CROOK BECAUSE OF HIS SKIN COLOR?
"I paid my dam taxes and I wanted my dam rights" ... i like it...simple and to the point. This dude is old school and is all about class, respect, education.... rock on, JB....ROCK ON!
JIM BROWN IS A REAL BLACK MAN!!! Plus he is NOT wearing an earring in his ear!!! WE LOVE U JIM BROWN!!!
Great interview with a truly great person and the best running back ever.
Having benefited from his AmerICan basketball program, I have nothing but rave reviews of this man. He is honest, cared about each of us individually and gave us solutions to problems rather than judgement. It's refreshing to see genuinely good people still walk this earth.
MISTER Brown,
Thank you for the American attitude.
Thank you for the example.
Mr. Bensinger,
Simply un-believable how you elicited this portrait of The Brown.
Thanks to you both, you're quite a team. :^)

You either like Jim or dont, I think he's great says it like it is.
+Ling Earth lol at your dumbass
bensinger seems like a relaly cool guy to sit down with, i've seen him do interviews with boxers too and he seemed like he really cared about learning from them.

A REAL MAN,,,,,,I love this brother,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ONELOVE.
nothing but respect for him. always love what he stood for off of the field than what he did on it.
This is dignity personified in a man!
Dude is a legend. He is just old school and naturally still believes he is in his time. Look at how people used to see football when it began to become popular; they thought it was savagery.

bigsleep32 are you speaking from experience or observation?
Despite my other comment, I would like to say overall he does have some good points in this interview.
@Footsniffer51
I am white and respect all black people and people of all other races, don't think that all of us think this way. Some of my best firends are black.
Well said Jim, I could agree more if I said it myself.

What happened to GB’s hair?

Like I said...."I dont expect U to understand that".
Its probably why Barry Sanders never made any circuses when he scored TDs.
@viokand The greatest Lacrosse player that ever lived! He was one special human. You should check out the movie "Jim Brown All American" It's a documentary by Spike Lee. The only SL movie I like. Killzone2...would not know greatness if it was sitting on his face.
