You should have been paid for this, Earthquake should sponsor you. This was the best explanation video I could find on this pedal. I also got mine used for about $110 (US). And I agree, very versatile and worth the money. Thanks from over the pond!
@@calebriley7466That’s how I describe it! My friends and family (especially my dad) ask me why I’m building pedals all the time. It’s Lego for grownups, and you get a cool guitar effect at the end.
Good to see a palisades video in 2022. Mine hasn't left my board in quite sometime. As a tele player, I never cared for tube screamer pedals until I got my palisades!
A great sounding pedal. I’ve bought a number of pedals which Paul has demonstrated, and the all sound great. The CTC Motherload is still my favourite. It’s very versatile with useable settings in Rat mode from minimal to maximum gain.
This is one of the greatest overdrives I have. It’s the ts that Earthquaker said they’d never make and it’s a ts I didn’t think I needed. 401 options. I stick with the same sound though.
I’d love to see a casual video of you playing your Tele directly into the Daw and then see each component added to really see how your amazing tone builds up. With all of your incredible gear I’m curious where all of this tone really comes from. I suspect your guitars play a big part and your elegant finger picking but it sounds amazing😊
This is the best sounding demo for this pedal I have heard. Did you get decision fatigue trying to find your style of gain and find that one gain setting you would just go with and not turn the knobs to tune it…. Or…. Do you change setting based on guitars or pickup level of response? Seems like a lot of gain possibly but this is not a pedal you change on stage while playing live…. So you are pretty much setting your favorite gain/ lead sound and using boost to punch it through the mix. I guess this allows you to tune a great gain sound to your liking and go for it…. There are many usable sounds you have shown here… but you get stuck finding one sound and just playing.
This is the only channel I trust on Overdrives, most reviews sound fizzy and flat, from the Blues Driver to the SD1 to the Klon, but here you can actually hear subtleties
Hi Paul, I think you meant Schottky (pronounced shot-key) for voice 6, the Schottky barrier diode starts conducting at a significantly lower voltage level than either germanium or silicone diodes therefore producing a much harsher clipping.
Hey Paul, did you see that PRS is selling through Sweetwater PRS 58/15, 85/15, pickups sets for $500. Limited and will sell out soon. I bought a pair of both.
@@TheStudioRats The reason I sold mine was becuase I wasn't convinced it made anything sound better. My playing, my rig.... I just felt there was something about it that added noise as well as gain. I might be wrong, but I think its the Tube Screamer circuit. Sometimes, with some guitar/amp combos it just doesnt work. I regret selling the pedal beacuse guitars and amps change. Your tastes change. But good pedals can be hard to find, and hard to justify the price for. Keep the Palisades. It will suit an amp or guitar you have eventually. That's the real reason I regret selling it.
@@TheStudioRats I needed some cash for other gear, and one thing about this pedal, I probably would find one setting and stick to it. So I figured I didn't really need all the options. I already have a couple tubescreamer style pedals.
@@TheStudioRats They're definitely available used and you can get them for around $150-$175. Question: will this replace the plumes on your board? You said you were done!!!
This is a very cool pedal. I’m not sure that it’s better than the plumes, but it does something just a bit different and it’s got more versatility. Paul’s preferred setting of voice 3 and bandwidth 3 are probably the best all around, but I’m drawn to voice 1 for its openness. Anyway, I know people don’t care what I think, but I figured I’d give my two cents. I think this pedal wasn’t a big seller so it’s nice to see it get some love-even if it means I spend more $ on pedals. Haha!
Hi Paul what would be really helpful in assessing the pedal is to also play it through a fender style circuit with Jensen type speakers. Your video is very good but only gives a reference “ classic British “ as a starting tone. It’s impossible to make an assessment of how it sounds to a guitarist using an “ American classic voiced “ setup
Paul, I really admire you for the fantastic tone you get out of every piece of gear you use and most of all for your great playing. Awesome! I also like the Plumes. The Palisades sounds good, but all the knobs and switches would drive me crazy. I can't handle mor than three controls (and maybe one switch as with the Plumes) 🙂 Have you found a Guv'nor in the meantime?
I can't believe I passed over this pedal for so many years. my wife got me one for Christmas and it's gotta be the best overdrive I've ever had.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but guitar pedals are the grown-ups equivalent to those Hotwheels cars....
You’re not wrong
Or Lego’s!
Haha exactly ! And it's a good thing :p

Jesus man you make everything sound amazing. I'm not sure I need a new drive pedal but you're really selling this to me.
Cheers fella. They don’t make these anymore, you can pick them up for a good price on eBay etc
I love that the buffer is switchable and only on when the pedal is.
A great sounding pedal. I’ve bought a number of pedals which Paul has demonstrated, and the all sound great. The CTC Motherload is still my favourite. It’s very versatile with useable settings in Rat mode from minimal to maximum gain.
Great playing and sound. Congratulations on 50k subs. Cheers from Canada
Thanks Paul. I now know what to get for Xmas!

Good grief. I think this is the best sounding overdrive pedal I've ever heard.
Tube Screamers usually boost mid frequencies I don't like - but this pedal, with the control, still has a scooped sound.
Yeah it’s incredible
@@TheStudioRatscan it death metal tho?

@@sasmitha8446 Like this idea too!
Palisades is a great OD, but I liked the clean sound of your lovely Tele ! Cheers Paul
Just got it for $100. LOVE IT. So versatile.
Sounded great
Get back to your holiday!
Egnater Silversmith are great for the money and do a similar thing great review and playing
Great addition to the board!
Congrats on the subs as well guys - six figures next.
Ah, the magic of 33.

Paid $105 AUD for mine. Gold! Awesome demo mate, cheers! Please let me know what you think of the POD Go? Was aiming for that next...

New here 🖖🏻 mind me asking what your signal path is? Absolutely digging the tone here, my friend
Cheers Connor, I was going straight into an axe fx 3

Hi David, nice one. It would cost too much to ship and pay import taxes I’m afraid but thanks for the heads up.
What were you playing the pedal through?
Are gain A and B really different though..
They are different circuits. B has more gain.
What pickups are those on the guitar? They look like trons
what is the signal chain in this video? what amp?
Hard to evaluate without knowing what amp is it played through.
Cool Telecaster!!
You have to tell me about that guitar…what is that??? What pickups are those?
6 voices and 5 bandwidths means that these pedals go to 11
Sadly I sold this pedal, and have wanted it back ever since!
Yep, sold mine too. I'd probably buy another one though....
What was the reason you guys sold yours?

5 sounds like a DS1!
you sound exactly the same whatever od you are using.
Paul, you need to stop showing me these great drives. I need to stop buying drives!!! Ha!
Soz for that. Apparently these are now discontinued, I’ve no idea why but it might be worth grabbing a second hand bargain.

That’s the mahavishnu pedal 😮
Btw, they don’t make em anymore
That Tele....
Yup sounds like an overdrive pedal...😅
