Yay I made it to 56:00 so I'm a real nerd too! Super cool rig, I just built something similar using the OBNE Signal Blender to create my 3 signal paths after the gain stages. One path goes to the LVX for all kinds of delay sounds, one path goes to the EHX HOG2 for all kinds of pitch shifting/synth/freeze pad weirdness, and one path goes to the Mood MKII + Generation Loss. Wish I had gotten hip to the multiple signal paths sooner.
I simultaneously marvel and scoff. Can one feel envy and pity at the same time? One of your superpowers is most assuredly tone manipulation. Congrats on the dope board!
Very cool board Rhett !! Funny about ambient music, it can get quite addictive. I'm glad to see you are using Chase Bliss pedals. Those guys are next level not only in their designs but also in their customer service. Cheers and enjoy.
Very cool. I wouldn't even know what to do with half of it. The sounds you come up with remind me of so many great records, Where I'm at in my guitar journey is still deciding on one type of effect, pedals in a row, turn some knobs. Just standard stuff, your board looks like something I'd see on that pedals show! Would love to see you on that pedal show if the schedules coss paths in the future.
I need to see the inside of XTS’s interface because that’s actually some amazing tech I’ve never seen before. I’d love to build one myself depending on how simple it is.
my chroma is in the mail and ive never been more excited for a pedal. even more, ive never found a pedal- its ethos and philosophy and approach- would ever strike me as so inherently interesting. i could write an essay on it and i havent played it yet. im wondering how youve felt the live/live jamming and midi implementation has been going for you. in other words, the functional usability and interaction with the rest of the board. i did watch this whole video and my setup is a bit like yours. i imagine that ill use it independently a lot of the time and i'll always have a reverb behind it to catch everything if i need. anyway im just hoping that midi recall has been smooth! happy new year to you, rhett! appreciate you as a creator, an artist, and a human person. - a pal youve never met.
Amazing board @RhettShull, both videos were a true pleasure to watch, thank you. This deep dive really shows how powerful a board like this can be, and I don't think we can nerd too much about it. Next step is to get you and the guys from @xacttone on the Chairmen of the Board's podcast and go all out with Mason, Brian and Grant. We definitely need a full signal flow diagram of some sort. I don't know the RJM very well, but it looks like it has 6 loops + one insert that you can use as a regular loop, right? But you mentioned in the video that the zio boost is also in a loop...So fuzz, argo, MkII, rat, beam, chroma, boost = 7. Where is the additional 8th loop for the effect loop/extra pedal/amp in a box? Also who's last in the chain? The boss re-202? (so your delay after reverb). After the switcher : Duophony (with synesthesia/dark world) > hx one > RE-202 > mood? Sorry I can't stop nerding out, I'm deep into a build and I'm obsessing over signal flow! Thanks again Rhett, great content !
That’s an amazing board, can do it all and very much in the ambient headspace. Can’t wait for my Chase Bliss Mystery Box to arrive for some CB goodness. 😂
I like the EP! It is quite rewarding programming sounds for your original music. I run a simpler setup with a morningstar midi switscher and a boss GT-1000 core plus an expression pedal with some analog pedals added. Still, the MIDI ability really frees you up to actually perform rather than tap dancing :)
I can't even imagine the time it took to MIDI map everything here (I'm fairly new to the MIDI thing, and it's absolutely mind melting stuff when you get into it--and I only have three pedals that I'm currently using MIDI with).
Damn, that was intense! Reached the end. This has been highlighted in the Line6 MIDI mad Scientist club. The old blood noise pedal used a triple tracking device answers one of my main questions, it’d be nice if you cover this in more detail in a later video. The other thing I note is that you demo this up on a table with access to those pedals under the riser. In studio I could see doing that all the time, I’d want those pedals at hands reach to mess with stuff and do programming, what about a wireless satellite board with midi controller or on board flic2 buttons to drive the RJM remotely? Free you of being stuck by the board. This bending to the floor to fudge with the MOOD seems incredibly impractical and it looks like you’d be using that very frequently?
You should get the VFE Klein Bottle V2 instead of the duopoly. All analog, three-channel mixer. You can apply low or high pass filters on each channel. You can feed any channel into the other two on a mix to get feedback or keep all channels separate. It’s an amazing pedal for this type of stuff you are doing.
Some of these sounds just reinforces why I love my Walrus R1 and their refract reverb alg. It's awesome. 44:10 is why I would love a Chroma Console though.
This was so fun, like a deep dive in your brain! ❤ Let me ask you this, as I also record a lot of different sounds with different amps and pedals on a loop switcher pedal board (though non-MIDI): How do you document the sounds and keep track of them so you know which songs utilize any specific sound? Cheers and Happy Holidays!
HOLY SHNIKEYS!!! That switcher is mechanically moving your sliders?¿?¿? GLORIOUS!¡!¡! So you can tweek a slider on the fly so much easier than tweeking a modeler on the fly!!!
Hello Rhett! Thank you for an amazing pedalboard walkthrough! One question though... where does your chroma console sit in the chain? i mean, i understand you have a switcher, and probably you put it in different place depending and what you wanna use. But where does is sit most of the time? I am kinda breaking my head here on where to put it, as it has so many "buckets" of effects. (they should have created an internal loop on it tbh hahaha)
I'm king of the nerds, watched it twice. Interesting choice with the Boss Space Echo. The usual suspects from UAFX and Keeley are not flexible enough for a switcher rig, and I'm not sure about Strymon personally (though they make great stuff). I'm more of a hard rock and metal player myself, but I really like the psychedelic sounds you're getting.
Great video! I’ve built a similar board with a handful of the same pedals. My only criticism is that a few times you mistakenly reference the GFI pedals as “the GFI” or swap the names (calling the Synesthesia the Duophony). Totally understandable for an off the cuff video though. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Rhett can I have that Two Rock head behind you for Christmas? 🎄 thanks! Haha cool video. I love these long form type rig walkthroughs. I make them myself just for fun and to look back in the future at where I was in the past!
Thank you! Very nice! I hope the board never fails you, that would be a nightmare. I was imagining that there are a lot of dynamics at play here with different sound layers, playing dynamics, different guitars and while gigging, different rooms. I can imagine that you would like to tweak the levels of the layers a bit depending on the room. Do you think the levels could be easier to control with a modeler? This is a lot of interconnected complexity you have here.
I am curious doesn’t the RJM Give you the option I pretty sure I have mine set up to do that depending on the page I know the pbc 10 does it but I am pretty sure the PBC6/x does it too
I am saving up for a multi modulation pedal that can also cover reverse delays granular verbs and other “wierd” effects, what would you recommend? I have thought about the Synethstesia and the Poly Beebo.
1 question - with midi - are u also able to control the knob settings of different pedals like we can do with helix snapshots ? or it just turns on and off certain pedals. all your pedals would have to support midi for that right ?
You can get stereo effects with stereo in stereo out on Mood 2.. except for the Delay mode..If you want Ping Pong stereo in Delay mode then you need Mono in/Stereo out...
Hello, yes, "real real nerd" here. Love the build! I have a question about your decision to go mono. Is that primarily for volume's sake or space as you travel gig to gig? Knowing that a big chunk of your board can function in stereo, just curious!
Hi! Great video! Thanks! I really enjoyed watching it and your videos inspire me all the time! I run a very similar board with the ehx super switcher but I run the chroma console, the microcosm and the mood in individual loops. If you’re not using them in loops, what is your signal chain after the mastermind? Do you daisychain the midi-pedals after the mastermind and toggle them via midi? Best from Germany!
Hey, which firmware version are you running on the HX One (shows up on start up)? It looks like you’re using the MIDI Thru on it, which doesn’t work on mine. Cheers
HOPE THIS HELPS the problem you are having with the duophony and the touch lights not working well i think is because you are trying to touch the light up part and adjust the setting that way. I believe you are supposed to be touching the grey section on the inner part of the circle and not the lights themselves. if that makes sense. see how the button in the middle that is touch and how its just a grey button. Try touching the grey bars on the inner section next to the light bar. I believe that will help. Watching this video most of the time its not working for you is when you are touching the light up bar and not the grey bar. HOPE THIS HELPS
this is the most complex board ive ever seen and his tone is equally complex to match. some absolutely bonkers noises coming out of that guitar. its like Prog Country
I am the aforementioned nerd
Me too haha
I love experimenting with sound myself. I kind of laugh though because the majority of the audience will hardly notice the subtleties.
Yep🙋🏻♂️
Nerd Nation 😂
Yup, another pedal nerd here too.

Real nerds unite!!! 🎉
Glad to see the Beam Splitter make the board. Such a fun pedal. OBNE rocks.
I just got one and am planning on using it with a 3x amp wet/dry/wet rig. I’m really excited to get it all wired up.
The way you are using the Mood is amazing and I love it way too much, thanks for going deep on the rig.
Love the MOOD!!! That Synthesia is amazing too . Your board gives me GAS!! Haha
shout out to Tilly for buying the 201 for you. I know youre already married but shes a keeper!
Man I love when you do the long form deep dive videos like this! Such a Joy to watch. Really enjoyed it. 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼
The duophony seems like a great option for bass. Blend in sounds but leave the low end intact.
Such a great video. Thanks for doing this, Rhett.
Thankfull that you made this additional video! i absolutely love this kind of content!!
Sick board. That duo thing I was very curious about. This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks bro.
Hello fellow nerds 🙂 Rhett, love this deep dive. More please.
Thanks for this video!! It is always nice to watch this nerdy stuff :P
Ah men of culture, we meet yet again
I simultaneously marvel and scoff. Can one feel envy and pity at the same time? One of your superpowers is most assuredly tone manipulation. Congrats on the dope board!
Yep. Congrats on being a human! Schizophonic!
"Super trick" is going into the rotation 😂 I love it!
As someone who would not put any of these pedals on my own board I can tell you this is a very cool board and useful
Happy for you that you can justify a whole board for your original material! That must feel like a cool level-up 🎉
“…for the nerds” I feel seen ❤ thank you Rhett!
That's so far thebest pedalboard I've ever seen 🤙🙂🫶🏽
Awesome board, can’t wait to hear what you’re gonna come up with next. Nerd confirmed.
Very cool board Rhett !! Funny about ambient music, it can get quite addictive. I'm glad to see you are using Chase Bliss pedals. Those guys are next level not only in their designs but also in their customer service. Cheers and enjoy.
Yes. Nerd here. Enjoying to the end. 😊 . Amazing ideas

Excellent board man.. Love the experimental type sounds you can get..
Great video, love the deep-dive. Would also love to see your workflow on creating and managing your presets for the pedals. Let's get even more nerdy.
I’m realizing the depth of my fan-boy-ing. I have a number of these pedals, all from previous Rhett vids
my chroma is in the mail and ive never been more excited for a pedal. even more, ive never found a pedal- its ethos and philosophy and approach- would ever strike me as so inherently interesting. i could write an essay on it and i havent played it yet. im wondering how youve felt the live/live jamming and midi implementation has been going for you. in other words, the functional usability and interaction with the rest of the board. i did watch this whole video and my setup is a bit like yours. i imagine that ill use it independently a lot of the time and i'll always have a reverb behind it to catch everything if i need. anyway im just hoping that midi recall has been smooth! happy new year to you, rhett! appreciate you as a creator, an artist, and a human person. - a pal youve never met.

Thinking I'm needing a mood now.
Great sounding pedal. Looper part is hard to tame. It has so many settings to discover.
I'm sticking with Microcosm but the form factor of Mood is attractive.
That’s an amazing board, can do it all and very much in the ambient headspace. Can’t wait for my Chase Bliss Mystery Box to arrive for some CB goodness. 😂
Thanks, fellow nerd
Why you have the J on the thumb nail
What is so amazing is how much our boards can cost.
I like the EP! It is quite rewarding programming sounds for your original music. I just bought the a Marsling Octafuzz because of Zach. And I am very happy about it.

Made it to the end, where do I get my nerd badge 😂 Mega board, happy voyage into the cosmos!
Dang it I’ve been ignoring pedals for a bit but a number of these look real fun.
Really hope you bring this on the road and press the ep on vinyl!
Some of these sounds just reinforces why I love my Walrus R1 and their refract reverb alg. It's awesome. 44:10 is why I would love a Chroma Console though.
This video is better than the other one 😂
I am nerd 🌹

Just came to this video after the main channel. Had to pop in for the nerd session lol
KILLER job designing this board. You and Xacttone did wonders here. Sounds great. Also, who are you calling a nerd, ya nerd?
Bless you, my son! 😇
HOLY SHNIKEYS!!! That switcher is mechanically moving your sliders?¿?¿? GLORIOUS!¡!¡! So you can tweek a slider on the fly so much easier than tweeking a modeler on the fly!!!
Okay, that sound just around the min 22 mark is AWESOME! The fact you "normally wouldn't go for it" really hurt, i have to tell you, haha!
˘J˘
real, REAL nerd here...checking in
Hello Rhett! Thank you for an amazing pedalboard walkthrough! One question though... where does your chroma console sit in the chain? i mean, i understand you have a switcher, and probably you put it in different place depending and what you wanna use. This nerd stuck around for the fuzz 🤘🏻
Interesting, the duophony is cool. I use my H90 for blending to different loops.
The midi controlled faders just make that pedalboard look like some kind of crazy Steampunk Doc Brown pedalboard..... and I'm here for it! ☮💙🎶
I'm king of the nerds, watched it twice. Interesting choice with the Boss Space Echo. if i could play with this board through a two rock into my headphones i swear to god i would never leave the house
I have so much GAS right now…. Damn you Rhett!! Great overview, thank you… I think 🤣
When he opened the board and revealed a whole other cupboard of pedals my mind went blank for a second.
13:47 you're supposed to use the grey colour half circle touch sensor. Not the actual light strip.
I am curious doesn’t the RJM Give you the option I pretty sure I have mine set up to do that depending on the page
I know the pbc 10 does it but I am pretty sure the PBC6/x does it too
good stuff!
Nerd here checkin in … and fully engaged
I am saving up for a multi modulation pedal that can also cover reverse delays granular verbs and other “wierd” effects, what would you recommend? I have thought about the Synethstesia and the Poly Beebo.
More nerdy stuff Please 🙏
Aurora Solo tone is flavorful!
Nerd Here
Glad to be here
Rhett, this has been awesome to watch. Thanks! Is that the vintnera JM? Have you done anything to it or are you happy with the stock config?
Since im on a budget, i do something similar with a Boss GX100, Empress Compressor mk2, and an Eventide H90.
1 question - with midi - are u also able to control the knob settings of different pedals like we can do with helix snapshots ?
or it just turns on and off certain pedals.
all your pedals would have to support midi for that right ?
Do mono-in-stereo-out on the MOOD and you’ll get the option for killer stereo when the *mood* strikes you.
Knowing that a big chunk of your board can function in stereo, just curious!
wow, the mood v2 sounds A LOT more useful than v1.
Any reason for the re-202 over the volante?
You’re correct, I am a real one
Ooo. Gunna grab some coffee
Excellent 💯🎉😎
_a little nerding never hurt nobody_
Rhett if you could only have one would you rather the Mood or the Dark World?
There is a lot of money in this board.😊 the looper switch costs already more than a modeler. But yeah I get it , it’s fun.
The Mood sounds like King Crimson in a box.
Where is the chroma console in the chain? Up front? First?
When he says "bespoke interface "what dos that mean? its custom to you? .
NEEEERRDDS ASSELMBLE!!!
Hey, which firmware version are you running on the HX One (shows up on start up)? It looks like you’re using the MIDI Thru on it, which doesn’t work on mine. Cheers
Does the Rat not remembering it's on/off state at power up drive you crazy yet?
So THAT'S what was in the Pulp Fiction briefcase
What pedalboard did you use!
Which Jazzmaster is that Rhett?
HOPE THIS HELPS the problem you are having with the duophony and the touch lights not working well i think is because you are trying to touch the light up part and adjust the setting that way. Real nerd here.
It’s me, I’m the nerd.
I love your board
It's so much cooler than just a regular pedal board
this is the most complex board ive ever seen and his tone is equally complex to match. some absolutely bonkers noises coming out of that guitar. its like Prog Country
Oh and have you messed with KMA Endgame yet?
