  • Vessel takes us for a ride with one of the most heartbreaking performances of the album. A box of tissues isn't required for viewing, but is highly recommended.

    I LOVE your analysis!
As someone who watches reactions to see others telling *why* they like songs, I think most people watch reactions to find that they share their passions with others. Even if bigger reactors say they mostly want to show new music for people to discover, that only happens ever so often (from my experience).
So I knew the song already and it was super refreshing to see someone actually analyze why they like a song. And you seem super authentic and honest as well.
You got a new sub, obviously, so I hope you keep it up!
Oh and about the screaming: You probably also know of the common advice that fellow metalheads give to newbies: To look at it as another instrument. I can see that as well, but in this case, when a band like Sleep Token use it sparsely, I think it's better to look at it on the surface level: As a big vocal climax, and in the context of the song a cry of despair.

Thanks for the kind words! I decided to start the channel mostly because my friends were tired of me ranting about Sleep Token in our Discord server...
Lol but seriously, I'm glad that other people can connect to the band like I do! My philosophy is definitely to try to understand why the music is so compelling, whether that be the production, lyrics, performance, etc. I enjoy hearing other people gush over their favorite music, so I'm hoping I can provide a window for others to hear the music like I do!

the break down towards the end says more than all the lyrics in the song.

Thank you for this analysis! English isn't my first language and I suck at understanding metaphors in any of the languages I speak, so I couldn't really understand what the line "my hell is your high water" meant. I was mind blown when you explained it. High Water is already one of my favorite song of theirs, and I'm glad I can understand it better now

You just can't help but feel something when he yells "I can't hold myself together". Chills every time.

I feel like if this album were recorded during thr cassette era, High Water would have been the official last listed track, and you would have to fast forward through 20 mins of silence to "find" the secret track, Missing Limbs. Its a beautiful song, and im learning to play it now on guitar, but the end of High Water - as you eloquently said - is the true climax of the album. V's emotion, that crushing guitar riff and ii's extraordinary drumming cap off one of the most complete and eclectic albums of all time

It's just such a great catharsis to the slow build that has been drug out through the album!
Also, Missing Limbs is a fun one to play on guitar. I'm working on a cover that I might upload sometime soon.

@@BreakingBeard-yv2qt I'll look out for that. Acoustic or electric? That fourth chord shape where you need to choose between bridging the second fret with your index finger or stealing your middle finger to hit the note is soo hard to get clean for me on acoustic. May just be my guitar, but I've seen him play it live on electric (and he brings his middle finger over to make that chord fyi)

@@Kira-qc4qi I played it on acoustic. I'm not sure if I'm playing it the same way Vessel does, I just kind of did it by ear and finding a partial tab. It's the first thing I've seriously recorded, so it's more of an experiment than anything!
