I visited Turkey first in 2010 for three months and then moved there Dec. 15, 2010 and stayed for 5 years. I moved in December because I was homeless in America, living out of my car. My Turkish friends gave me a place to stay and I easily found work, so I stayed. Fell in love with the culture, cuisine and language. The people were SO hospitable and I am from the American South! We are supposed to be the home of hospitality but NO!! Turkey has a beat by a mile! So generous, welcoming, encouraging. So I moved because I was literally out of viable living options BUT when it was time for me to move back to the US, I had a very similar experience. I needed to move home and I just knew it needed to happen. It was a very strong sense of urgency, growing stronger daily. I did first notice it one morning but it stayed with me and gradually became more prominent in my thoughts. I eventually married a Turkish man about 5 months after returning to the States. We live here now, but I hope to return to Turkey someday. Definitely for retirement but hopefully before. I miss it SO much!! Thanks for sharing!!

Yes if you are smart you make money here but loneliness and grayness( everywhere is same looking same type of buildings same style same roads etc is horrible here) friendships are mostly fake, selfishness is extreme, it is all about money here, neighbor relationships is mostly all about hey how ya doing, good etc fake small talks...no one knocks your door, hah. Once I met a Japanese girl in a movie making course I attended in Ankara. She said that whenever she sees the Turkish flag, she becomes misty-eyed. She explained it like that. "I moved to Turkey in order to study at the university --I don't remember what department it was. She stayed there for two years without visiting home. After two years, she went to Japan and visited her father. Her father shook her hand and said a cold 'Wellcome' just like a stranger. No hugging or a smile. This triggered something in her and she decided to stay in Turkey from then on. In fact, she decided to be a Turk.

Hey there. I am from India. Loved this honest reply session to the question. Well like you felt the connection and moved to Turkey, for some unknown reason, I also find Turkey fascinating. I really don't know why I find their culture, art, history architecture , language so FASCINATING. And I guess that's why out of the blue I started watching Turkish series and then one day I am like I really want to learn their language. I find it really beautiful. Hence, it's been a week or two, I have started learning Turkish.

Hello Chelsea. I enjoyed your video so much. My story is similar to yours. I also wanted to move to Turkey on what seemed like a whim. It was 2015 and my mom convinced me to watch a Turk soap opera (Binbir Gece) that was airing in my country (Panama). I finally watched it and for who knows what reason, I soon became obsessed with Turkey, its history, its culture, its language, its men, everything about Turkey fascinated me. My first impulse was not to move there but to learn the language. (I was afraid to do something I would deeply regret later.) Understanding the language would really make me feel closer to them. So in 2016 I took an online Turkish course. I did not have a job. I lived from doing occasional gigs as a translator and language interpreter. These gigs were too occasional for anybody to live off of, but I had organized myself with a minimalist lifestyle and have the super power of living with very little money.
Anyhow, I was so determined to learn Turkish that I devoted four hours a day to studying. It was insanely difficult but I was not going to let anything stop me. This is not normal in me. I'm lazy and when things get difficult I have no qualms about quitting. But not this time. When things got difficult I told myself "I'll be damned if I stop learning. I'm going to learn Turkish or I'm going to die trying." I also studied Turk history, watched Turk TV series, got Turk friends, etc. I felt that my fate was connected with Turkey.
Soon my biggest dream became visiting Turkey. In 2017 I decided to go spend a month there. I thought if I did so, the obsession would lessen, that I'd be satisfied with having seen it and I'd be happy. It didn't work out that way, though. It only made me want to go back more. Now I had something to miss. However, I didn't have the money to go back every year and see everything I want to see.
In 2019 my life underwent a drastic change. After ten years without work or money, I got a full-time job. I can now afford to travel twice a year. So I will go visit in September of this year.
You and I have so much in common. You seem to have my same personality. Do you know if you're an INFP?
Anyhow, I will watch your other videos. I wish I had found you years ago.

Hi Chelsea! Thank you for sharing this and many of your videos, I found myself laughing Sooo hard, you have given a great perspective into life / people in Turkey. (I’m a Turk living in the US the past 12 years) your Turkish is very good! Going back to the content of this video, it is not weird at all! You had been guided by your highest self to take on a mission! And it came in the form of strong messages as soon as you woke up. This is something to pay attention to as our missions is not that clear as we move through our physical existence. How brave and powerful you are to listen to your inner guidance and take action instead of ignoring it! The universe speaks to us in sometimes mysterious but sometimes in very powerful ways. It is up to us to receive the messages and move with our free will. You were being guided and your mind & heart aligned with your guidance and you made it a reality! I am sure as you moved through your journey in Turkey- and as I can tell from your videos- that you feel that is where you are supposed to be & that is what you are supposed to do. Keep listening to your inner & higher self as that will never let you down & guide you where you are meant to be 💐❤️
