This was written by the late singer Lonnie Donnigan, who gave it to Tom to sing as he said he would do a better job than himself. In 2019, Lonnie's son, Peter appeared on UK TV series 'The Voice' where Sir Tom Jones was a judge and the now 79 year old sang this as a song duetting with Peter and a version of that is on RUclips. He sang it brilliantly and has lost nothing from his voice with old age.
Yes, there is a distinction and I liaised with Peter, who seems a lovely Guy, on RUclips because some, incorrectly, think that this was written for Sir Tom but he was an unknown called Tom Woodward in the Welsh "Tommy Scott Orchestra" when this was released.:)

Tom was born in the same town as my Dad, Pontypridd in Wales. My grandmother used to tell us of how Tom used to get kicked out of the Working Man's club for singing all the time and how the whole town used to laugh at Tom walking around in leather trousers

Tom Jones used to sing with our John Farnham for fun. Then I was watching John sing at a concert and a big screen behinds John started. It was Tom singing Happy Birthday to John. I love them singing My Yiddish Mama on Hey Het it’s Saturday. Tom and John didn’t know they would be singing that night but they did it. It was beautiful and funny. I love Tom and I have since I was a child. Thank you.
