The days of Amazon devices in my home are drawing to a close. No more will be purchased and once those that are still functioning, cease, I'll be ditching the lot and getting an Android box. Amazon are starting to get like Apple, where just because you paid good money for something it doesn't mean you can do what you want with it.
The Nvidia Shield, the ONN box, and the MiBox among others are all reputable Android devices and you won't have that problem with them. Of course I am not sure whether they are all available in the UK or not but they are available on my side of the pond.@trixiek942
@trixiek942 Yeah, I would definitely do that. I do watch a few "Android box" reviewers, but at the minute I'm leaning towards the Nvidia Shield, I just wish they'd release a new one as it's been a while.
I have an onn streaming box and I wish I had purchased it before I purchased a Firestick. I've had no issues with it compared to the Firestick where there is always some sort of problem.
@@JoshF151Tech Google Chromecast aren't that good compared to Firestick 4k. Nvidia are good, excellent even. 4k good to take away on trips. Google Chromecast I use as my research machine. Firestick are no good as media players since they won't address beyond the Fat limit thus stuck with UHD movies... too big. Chromecast dongle like the Nvidia you can extend the memory into SSD, adopted storage. Android TV is the nicest on a Nvidia. 64bit. The other two 32 bit.
Just be sure the device you buy supports Netflix and Amazon Widevine level 1 and is authorized by Netflix. Otherwise, you'll only get movies and TV shows in 480p (no 1080p or 4K).
With everything that has been going on with Amazon and Prime Video, I'm sure glad that I retired my Fire TV Stick 4K (first gen) and elected to get a soundbar with rear speakers instead of a pair of Studios as a home theatre pair for the Fire TV. I cancelled my Prime membership a couple of weeks ago. I have a pretty decent physical media collection and going forward will be limiting my streaming services in general. In the summer months I don't subscribe to anything at all.
Just buy a cheap Bluetooth mouse and connect it via "Bluetooth & other devices" in settings. Much more responsive and less clunky than the mouse toggle app.

I got a refund for TDUK Apps earlier today. Plus Amazon refunded my Fire Sticks I purchased. All you have to say is the recent update disabled the ADB Debugging which i used. Everyone should do a mass exodus on the amazon fire sticks and get refunds. The next thing coming is blocking side loading apps……
I had the firestick 4k… used it for several year. Recently bought a fire stick 4k max, much better , snappier, more storage. At the same time I bought the ONN 4k streamer… expanded the memory for a few bucks and played around with it. Returned the firestick 4k max and have been so happy playing with the ONN. For $20 bucks this thing is amazing. I bought a 2nd one for my living room and just got my cousin on one. I’ve become an ONN fanboy. 😂
Imagine if everybody bought a shield , you and many others would have nothing to talk about, because it just works and you can do what you like, change the launcher, without any tricks, like you actually own it and not renting it with whatever conditions Amazon want to introduce
But the nVidia Shield devices are still quite expensive for any decently equipped model. At that price, you might as well get an Apple TV 4K 128 GB for US$149.
Hi! Adam Mouse toggle stopped working on my fire cube 2nd generation on Sunday I could not work it out so spent ages uninstalling and reinstalling app with different versions I thought it might of been something to do with the latest amazon software update which I downloaded but my firesticks were working perfectly I updated them all at the same time it was not until Sunday nights video from the tec doctor that confirmed my suspicion that some devices were being blocked using ADB, I'm not going to download anymore amazon updates if that's possible?
I think that's why they are making an effort to lock them down. The whole 'lock down' thing and 'use our products or what we allow you to use' thing is why I have always refused to purchase or use anything from Apple. So if Amazon believes that is the business model they want to follow, then I am done with their hardware
@@Real_American_DAD Sure if there is an alternative at a similar price point with similar specs but the cost of fire tvs is subsidised by amazon My thought on the rooting efforts is that there is a reason that the PS4 & PS5 have been exploited and that the Xbox One and Series (still a stupid name) haven't is because Microsoft let you pay £20 to get Dev Mode on your account and that lets you run UWP applications, so the groups that would hack so they can run whatever they want have no motivation to do it on xbox because it's just £20 to unlock it but if M$ took that away these groups would start working to exploit it so they can run what they want on the hardware they bought, it's not about piracy for these types it's they just want to run what they want

I replaced my Fire TV Stick 4k Max with a Chromecast 4k back in November and I'm glad I did it! Fire TV will become more restrictive than even Roku at this pace.
I took an older laptop that had a broken screen on it; put bluestacks on it and I can run every app that I have on my firestick, just something to think about.

Both tech doctor apps shown on vid are working on my 4k firestick, (the new shape model), are the emotion launcher, Launcher manager, TD speed, tech do screen saver manager and Xplore. No issues yet have just tried using and fine.
The day after posting, adb was blocked overnight on my 4k latest model. Very annoyed as I paid for those 2 apps. Plus side my custom launcher won't un install so it's no amazon ads for me ha😊
I got a $20 Onn box from Walmart from a friend who went to America it makes the Fire stick look like garbage it surprised me you can do anything with it believe me for $20 its unbeatable and its running Android 12.😳👍

If you want access to older stuff I would suggest Film+. That is one thing I noticed about Cinema is their content is hit or miss on the older stuff. BeeTv is underrated as well IMO.

Im not suprised to be honest, the pure greed from amazon recently shows the way they will be going. Its not the end of the world, we used android boxes before the fire devices, we'll just end up using them again

It's Amazon mate. They have blocked all ADB connections which mouse toggle relies on. The only way around it is to buy a Bluetooth mouse and pair it with your firestick. That way there's nothing Amazon can do. I bought a HP one which doesn't require a USB dongle for £25 and it's brilliant. Hope that helps.

nothing but issues now with firesticks i think Amazon are doing all these updates and new OS to deliberately try to make it a lot harder for users to use 3rd party apps a horrible company, just to let you know i addressed some of the issues being encountered to there Amazon forum they havent even replied there not interested they know what firesticks are being used for and trying to stop it. Heres a little list of the 4k issues 1: Audio Delay 2: Volume up and down no longer work after updating 3: standy mode or power off no longer works after updating 4: ADB debugging mode removed 4K Max and Firestick lites dont seem to be affected only the bog standard 4k stick.
I never like Amazon’s restrictions on their devices… ie… I don't own them… lol 🤣 I'm sure there are new and updated boxes out there... Been using Nvidia Shield Pro for a few years with no problems... No Amazon restrictions….!

I paid for those 2 apps and can it use them now.The 2 apps still work on the Nvidia Shield.

I bought MY Firestick 4K Max, and Amazon has the balls to tell me what I can do with it. It's the last straw. They are not the only option.
