  • We finish enclosing our Quonset Hut Workshop with help from the Genie boom lift. The framing, sheathing and house wrap were a breeze but the overhead shop door install posed a few challenges to say the least. We celebrate with sourdough pizza now that this part of the build is behind us!
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

You two remind me of me and my husband years ago. We built 2 houses together and remodeled the 3rd and hopefully the last one. We are both in our 60s now and my husband hasn't slowed down one bit. I am so over it and if I never pick up a piece of plywood again it will be wonderful. Y'all be careful and enjoy these times. The saying is if your marriage can make it through a building project and still be strong then you are good for life. Me and my husband are still very very good and I am thankful for him everyday. Eric don't forget to tell Arielle how amazing she is every day. There are not many women like her anymore. God Bless you Both. Debbie from NC.

I agree!! Arielle is truly a GIFTED woman…strong, very smart, can work as hard as Eric, can bake, do any chore, loves plants and animals, is maternal and loving, but I am very sure can outwork and outsmart 95%of any men there in Alaska, all while remaining beautiful and feminine. She is just amazing. 🌷🌷🌷

I worked for Overhead Door Co for about 10 years installing those exact doors and I have to say, you guys did a great job installing that. Installing garage doors isn't an easy job and really just anyone shouldn't be doing it. It can be really dangerous. Each of those springs should have 12.5 turns. There is a line painted on the spring that you can count so you don't have to count every quarter turn. The correct way to check if tension is correct is put the door half way up. It should not raise and definitely should not fall. Withe the door all the way up each spring should have .5 turn on them.

I've said it before, but the two of you are an amazing team. It's remarkable how you're not intimidated to jump into a massive job that you're not previously experienced with. But jump you do and even though there might be a misstep her or there (which you always share with us!) the job always gets done and the results speak for themselves. I'm in awe!
I'm not a terribly spiritual person, but I marvel at whatever natural forces conspired to bring two such people together...people who share the same interests and mindset required to embark on such a special lifestyle. Thanks for sharing your journey with the public!

My goodness, it looks HUGE inside as soon as the one end was closed in! What an incredible undertaking and achievement for only two of you. You are amazing, the imagination, mathematics, physical effort all combined to build this from scratch.

So impressive. You're not living so simple as your title of your channel says. You are constantly working with something that needs to be done. Amazing! Keep on going! You both are too cool!

In my younger days, I did the one hand maul work over the head! When you feel that shoulder get sore, fold the pillow 3 times and sleep on the floor, and it will take a day or two. Thank you for your kindness, T

You two should do seminars on how to become more self sufficient. I think you’d make a lot of money just by sharing the knowledge you have with others.
