Hey bro, I have a 2023 Prius. I’ve been waiting for someone to post a vid like this. I love doing my own oil changes. Thanks for the upload man, god bless.
I just bought mine (regular, not prime) last month. Oil changes are covered for the first 2 years but planning to do the oil myself after that time is up.
Great video big thumbs up is the Prius hybrid same exact configuration as the prime as far as oil change goes capacities and such or can you tell me is it the exact same motor knowledge is king big big thumb up
@@samsacre hi, the engine in the regular Prius and Prius Prime is the same, but they take a slightly different amount of oil as discussed in the video. Probably due to a different oil pan design.

Hi Viktor. Thank you for sharing your experience ! May I ask you a few questions. Now I have 3300miles, mostly hv mode on freeways, is it not to late to do first oil change? And can I use Mobil 1 fully synthetic ilsac gf-6 5w30 instead of 0w16 in California?
@@Pravdazhe hi, the first oil change is due at 10K miles, so you definitely don’t need one yet (unless you want to do one early). You could probably use 5w30, but it will likely make the fuel economy slightly worse.
Great video ! I have a 2024 Prime and plan to do the first oil change at 5000 miles. I typically drive EV mode but select HV about once a week to get time on the engine. Where did you get the screw in funnel that fits the new Prius. I use that style funnel on my Ford, Mazda and past Subaru vehicles. I can’t find one on Amazon that states it fits the new Gen. 5 Prius. Cheers
Hi Roy, thank you for the positive feedback! The funnel and all the other items needed to do the oil change are linked in the video description below the video. The Amazon fitment guide may not include the Prius Prime in it as it is a newer vehicle, but it does fit. Cheers! amzn.to/3QbGQrG

Where did you get that funnel the one I have and used on my old Pruis won't screw on the new plastic valve cover ???????????????????????????????????
Links are in the description below the video.
Wild...replacing gasket on the plug. You do this every time?! I've never done it on any of my old cars. (I'm also not really a mechanic.)
Yes, the drain plug gasket is supposed to be replaced at every oil change.

I always do the first initial engine break in oil change at 1000 miles on all my new vehicles I have purchased.
Do u think fujumoto good to add? Or just leave stock
@@adrienchan2097 I don’t know what a fujumoto is.
I had the Fujumoto drain valve on my Tacoma truck. Made changing the oil very easy.
What if you use 0w20?
@@republicofvegans712 it will probably be ok, might affect the fuel economy a little bit
Very nice job. May I ask the milage of the car? Was it the break in oil change?
It has 1500 miles on it. I just did the oil change to make the video, it didn’t need it yet.
Do it at 1000 miles.
Toyota changed to cartridge oil filter on the 5th gen models. I hate the plastic oil filter housing on the previous gen models.
Yeah, lots of people prefer the spin-on type.
